Just then the Head Chamberlain approached in a hurry flapping his arms in a desperate attempt to get the Crown Prince's attention.
Daimon sighed. "I'm guessing dinner with my wife will have to wait."
The Head Chamberlain bowed to the Crown Prince and acknowledged General Zhan with a slight nod of his head.
"Your Highness." He said breathlessly. "A visitor has arrived all alone."
"And?" Daimon replied wondering why the Head Chamberlain seemed so disturbed that the visitor was unaccompanied.
"She claims she is the Lady Rowena's mother."
Both Daimon and Zhan were surprised. Nobles did not visit the Imperial Palace without an explicit invitation. And it was exceedingly rare for a queen to visit by herself and without pomp and circumstance.
"No retinue? No guards?"
"None, whatsoever" the Head Chamberlain acknowledged. He too thought this was exceedingly strange.
Perhaps Rowena inherited her independence and disdain for formality from her mother. Still, this was most disturbing.
