Daimon had finally found Rowena sleeping peacefully in his big desk chair in his study. He'd scolded her for leaving her rooms without her guards and without letting anyone know where she was going. He'd searched for hours until he went to his study to think. He'd never dreamed she'd be there.
Instead of taking his scolding like a misbehaving child, Rowena instead had turned on him and yelled at him for being inconsiderate and missing dinner with her.
He was stunned by this and even more so by his reaction to it.
In the midst of her rant against him, Rowena suddenly felt herself pulled off the chair and into Daimon's strong arms. She struggled at first, mainly due to shock and a deep hatred for lack of freedom.
He held her tightly against him and murmured into her ear "I was so worried something awful had happened to you! I don't want to lose you! I could never forgive myself if I couldn't protect you!"
