What is the reason for being born?
Whether you'd be a king who lived a glorious life or an orphan who starved to death in the slums, you are just one among many people that was born and lived. The world does not care for your success or your suffering. It will go on turning even without you.
Just like an insignificant stone among mountains.
---
A disheveled brown haired maid stared at her newborn child with her lifeless brown eyes. It was the reason for all the suffering she went through.
"It's a girl"
One of servants who helped her deliver the baby said in a cold manner. It had dirty blonde hair from the baron and it was crying very loudly.
They then placed the baby in a cradle that was not cleaned and left with the baby still crying. Her mother just laid there with her lifeless eyes.
---
In the beginning the maid believed that seducing baron Weiss and having his child would make her life comfortable. She was an orphan with no family so she had to make do after being taken in by the baron.
The baron was quite handsome for a backwater noble with dirty blonde hair and green eyes so she was quite satisfied with him. He already had a wife and a three-year old son as the heir but it did not matter to her.
When she revealed that she was pregnant, she threatened the baron to take responsibility. Ashamed, the baron gave her money as compensation and reluctantly allowed her to remain in his estate as a maid despite her wife's protests.
She lived comfortably for a while but it did not last long. Her belly began to get bigger and she couldn't wear fancy dresses anymore.
All her fellow maids began to torment her for being a whore. The baron stopped giving her money and completely ignored her after trying to soothe his angry wife.
She no longer had the guts to confront the baron and only waited for the child to be born, hoping for chance. But when the child was born, she felt nothing.
---
The baby was still crying when suddenly an earthquake struck, causing the whole estate to be in disarray. When a servant came to check on the maid and her newborn child, the maid was already dead.
The servant took the baby and reported to the baron. The baron who was currently busy due to the earthquake could not care less and ordered the servant to take care of it.
The baby had no name and the servant dared not name someone else's child. The baby had already stopped crying and slept in the servants arms.
From that day forward the a nameless child lived in this world.
---
"Hey you dirty thing! are you hungry?"
The maids snickered as they asked the nameless child, born out of a commoner maid and Baron Weiss. They waved a potato that was neither cleaned nor cooked.
"..."
The child nodded and reached out for the potato but before she could grab it, the maid dropped the potato on the floor. She immediately went to grab it on the floor and ate it vigorously.
"pfft... she's just like a dog!"
"..."
They were laughing among themselves while the child continued to eat. Not knowing she was being insulted she laughed along with them. She was only 4 years old and growing up, no one made an effort to teach her many words.
"oh you've finished it? now you have to show your thanks!"
"..."
The child only nodded as she did not know how to respond. When she want to express something, she either nods or shakes her head.
"Thanks..."
The child finally spoke although she looked like she was struggling to pronounce it.
"tsk.."
Unsatisfied, the maid stood up and walk towards the child. She looked down beneath her, grabbed her head and pushed it into the floor.
"You should kneel when you thank someone! you're lucky I even gave you food!"
"!.."
Confused, the child started to sob. She understood she did something wrong so she continued to kneel with her head down.
"hmp! that's more like it"
The maid grinned and looked down at the sobbing child. She continued in that position until all the maids left their quarters to do their work.
