When we got home, 'Inside the Fire' by Disturbed was playing, and as with every other song ever, we were singing it as we made our way up to our room.
"GIVE YOUR SOUL TO ME, FOR ETERNITY, RELEASE YOUR LIFE TO BEGIN ANOTHER TIME WITH-" we scream sang until Nicki yelled something "ALEX!"
"SHUT IT!!" I yelled back and pulled my hoodie up before opening my door and closing it behind Jack. He was laughing when I shoved him towards the bed and grabbed a couple of Xbox controllers, and my drink.
"That was funny, you have to admit that," He said, chuckling, as I flipped him and continued mumble singing the lyrics to the song.
"Give your soul to me, for eternity, release your life to begin another time with her! End your grief with me, there's another way, release your life and take your place inside the fire with her!" I sang as the song ended, with a slow sarcastic clap for Jack.
"Technically, wouldn't it be 'him' in your case since your Hell-spawn?"
"Yeah, I guess, but it's just a song. Fucking weeb," I said, turning on Mortal Kombat, which we played when either of us didn't feel like playing online games, Skyrim, or Fallout 4. I swapped the song playing to 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica before we started playing, this was a lazy day for us, and it was almost as fun as blowing up military bases and reminding cops who are really in charge. Two and a half hours later and we were still playing when Jade busted into our room with Alex just behind her.
"If we don't acknowledge them, they will leave, remember that," I mumbled as I finished off Jack, playing Johnny Cage, as his in-game daughter, Cassie Cage.
"Damn, Cassie's got some daddy issues," Jack said, getting my message and ignoring our two uninvited guests. I had already informed Jade that today was a lazy day for Jack and I, so I wasn't doing anything other than what I already was.
"Jacob, I know you can hear me, I'm leaving Alex in here. I'm going back to my room."
"Now, you play Johnny, I get Cassie," Jack said at the character select screen, so far we were ignoring pretty well. Alex took a seat next to Jack and snatched his controller, so I took my opportunity to make a joke.
"I'll play Sonya, you get Johnny, we can ignore marriage counseling and sort this out the old-fashioned way," I said, with a smirk trying to avoid laughing, because that's what Jack and Alex were doing.
"Winner gets free dinner from the loser."
"From Mamacitas'?"
"Deal!" Alex said as we both chose our character, 'So much for ignoring them' I thought, and Jack chuckled, meaning he did hear me internally. Four matches later, we were tied in a 2-2 and 1-1 in the current match.
"Imma be honest, I wasn't expecting you to be as good as you are," I said as the fight began with an enhanced move from me.
"Why? Think a hunter can't keep up?"
"What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted? Hmm?" I said as the "FINISH HIM" screen popped up, indicating I had won. One over gory kill later, and I had won myself a free dinner and bragging rights, within both my home and her pack.
"You will never be the hunter so long as I'm around, Jacob."
"Is that so?" I said with a smirk, knowing this would push her buttons. I had a habit, and talent, for getting on people's nerves, especially authority figures. 'Is this one of those moments you want to push someone's buttons? Or one where you want an authority figure to be aggressive?' Jack said within our link, to which I gave an honest reply, all-be-it humorous 'You know I love pushing people's buttons, Jack'.
"Yes, and you'd be good to keep that in mind, Little One," She said, and I turned to see her eyes were blood-red, indicating her wolf was in control now. 'This is gonna be great!' I thought as I got ready for probably an action movie-worthy chase.
"Oh really? Round two then?" I said as I opened the window behind me, not letting her out of my sight while doing so.
"Then, you were the hunter, now the tables will turn. Are you prepared?"
"If you catch me in an hour's time, I'll pay for my meal and you pay for yours."
"Alright then, but don't act like you didn't have this coming," She said as I held up five fingers. Four. Three. Two...
