Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

I pulled into the parking lot of the Dave and Buster's, smiling at the memories I once had with this place, I hadn't been in many years and that was when I was a teenager. I walked inside and nodded my head at the host of the restaurant section, and he walked me over to where I would be sitting for food and left to go get myself a diet cola. I sat down and stared out the window, remembering the last time I had been here, it was one hell of a night...

I walked inside with Nicki and my dad, we were celebrating Nicki's eighteenth birthday, and my dad had driven us. My dad gave me forty bucks and said he was going to spend the night at the bar, that didn't surprise me.

"Have a nice night, kids, I'll see you at home, Jake."

"See ya dad, let's grab some grub, Nicki," I said and we walked over to the restaurant section, we sat and I ordered a burger, she ordered a steak and potatoes. We talked about school, her search for her mate, and my personal life, we had always talked about our personal lives but she was curious about my mental and emotional health. I had already endured things that would make grown men cry, and I had never shed a tear, making her worried that there was something wrong with me, oh how right she was. When our food arrived we started eating and I changed subjects to her mate hunt, and how she said that she thinks that she might've found her. After a bit, we walked over to the game area and we bought two hundred bucks worth of credits and split it among two cards, we spent the entire night playing foosball, skeeball, pool, we were playing with all kinds of balls. After a bit, we walked over to the store and exchanged credits for prizes, I got the equivalent of 200 ounces of Diet Coke, in cans, and she bought a stuffed wolf and some chocolate. We left the place and I called a cab to drive us to her place, the last thing I needed was to be at my dad's place, even if only for one night, so when we got to her place I laid down on her couch. I must've forgotten that I wasn't at my own home, so when I took off my hoodie, Nicki looked at me like I was shifted, in pure horror, and a little bit of concern. I quickly realized what she was staring at, the scars on my arms making it look like a barcode, they were faded because I hadn't cut in a while, but they were still there, and realizing that she had seen them fucked me up.

"I'm guessing, you have questions about these?"

"Yeah...why?"

"I honestly can say that I can't pinpoint an exact reason, and sometimes I don't even know why I do it."

"Does it have anything to do with being an omega? An omega archdemon at that," She asked, and I sighed, giving her the answer she was looking for. Demons are the strongest of any supernatural creature out there, archdemons are stronger than standard demons, and omegas are the strongest of the bunch, so why would I be ashamed? It's because omegas only reach their peak strength when they find their mate, so sometimes the parents of omegas, or even just siblings, hit and beat them up to try and stunt their growth and strength. It sucks, especially having a dad that would do it, but after Nicki helped me, my dad figured out what he had done and started working on righting his wrongs. That didn't change how I saw myself, because being abused isn't just physical damage, it's mental too, and that's why I hurt myself.

"Yeah...I know he's working on fixing himself, but it's still hard to see myself as anything else after Shane got thrown in prison and dad... I only ever saw myself as weak, unlovable, and too much of a pussy to be cared for," I said, trying not to let my voice crack or break while talking, I hated that the most because it gave me more proof that I was weak, and that was the last thing I needed.

"I get it, Jake, you don't need to keep going."

"T-thank you, Nicki."

That was the last time I went to this place because I never saw my dad again after that, he had been kidnapped and tortured, and by the time I could find him it was too late, he didn't recognize me and was too scared to try and remember. The people that did it were the leaders of a rival gang, and let's just say that gang's house wasn't always red, and leave it at that. I was shaken out of my thoughts by someone touching my shoulder, it was my waiter and he had just set my drink down and asked me what I wanted to eat.

"I'll have a steak and mashed potatoes."

"And I'll have a cheeseburger and fries," another voice said, I looked around the waiter and was shocked to see Nicki walking over to my table, "and get me a rootbeer too."

"Alright, steak and potatoes, a cheeseburger, and a rootbeer?"

"Yep."

"Alright, I'll get that right out for you," he said and left towards the kitchen, I turned my head and looked at Nicki, smiling and realizing just how much of a good friend I had.

"It's been a while since we've been here, eh?" She said, making us both laugh at her cringy small talk.

"Yeah, it's uh... it's been a while...thanks for coming out here, even if I didn't ask you to."

"Jack told me where you were going, so I followed you, I know that what happened back then hurt, but you've made it this far. You're strong enough to keep going, and when I'm not there to say it, Jack is, and when Alex finally confesses, she'll be there too, even if she wants to dick you down," She said, making me blush and pull my hood up, it's what I did whenever I started blushing in public.

"Shut up."

"What?? You and I both know that one: You'll love it and two: it's gonna happen."

"Unless you want me to steal your phone and text, Jade, an inappropriate message, I'd stop talking," I said and looked at her in a face that said 'Fucking try me', she didn't buy it, but I didn't care.

"Do it then," She said, so I snapped my fingers and her phone landed in my hands, after a minute I had the perfect text to send to Jade that would make Nicki blush. I turned the screen and showed her the text, it read 'Mommy, I've been a really bad girl, I was touching myself earlier today to the thought of you eating me out, and now I can't get you out of my head' with a couple of emojis, and a bit more detail. Nicki gasped and started blushing immediately, trying to grab her phone back "Fine! Fine! I'll shut up, I swear!" Smirking victoriously, I gave her the phone as the waiter walked over to our table and dropped our food off, it looked amazing, but we both knew who wanted what, so we switched beef options, me giving her my steak and her giving me her burger.

"You know I'd never send a text like that unless I wanted you to get laid, right?" I said, making her blush, and I was very tempted to keep going, but I wasn't going to be that mean to her. We finished eating our food and decided to play some games, more foosball, skeeball, and pool, and when we got done we walked to the prize area. I bought some Diet Coke, and she got some chocolate, making us laugh that even after several years we still only got one thing from Dave and Buster's prize shop. We left the place and walked towards my truck, talking about how she was tempted to retype, and send, the text that I had written earlier that night. We laughed through it all and got in my truck, and took off for home, laughing and listening to music the entire time. Nicki put a Green Day CD I had into the CD player in my truck and we started headbanging like a couple of idiots, by the end of the song that she put on we were pulling back into San Antonio, laughing in utter hysteria. We pulled into the garage, and saw that Miguel and Ashley were making out in the back of the truck Miguel was building up, so I gave Nicki the three-second heads up. 3...2...1...

"GET A ROOM!!" We yelled next to their ears, scaring the shit out of both of them, and giving us a good laugh.

"Fuck off, Jake, Nicki don't you have someone else to go make blush?"

"Shut up," Nicki said as we walked inside, Jade laughing and Jack smirking at the blushing lovebirds following us.

"Had fun in their Miguel?!" Jack said, trying to contain his laughter in any way possible. Miguel ignored him and led Ash towards their room, and with a couple more remarks, I took their lead and walked up to my own, it wasn't long until this heist went down, and I couldn't take a risk of being tired.
