"I tell you, and we're going to have to deal with her on full energy during the entire summer." said Dom as he chuckled, it wasn't a bad thing that their daughter was energetic and happy, the only problem was he had no idea what they were going to do to keep her entertained the entire summer.
"Well true, I'm sure we'll get through it." replied Natasha as she warmed the leftovers in the microwave.
"After all, our parents managed to survive the summer with us all." she added.
"True, but I remember how we used to go to grandfather's summer house every summer, we would stay up late, playing with the sprinklers, eating smores by the campfire." Dom said reminiscing of some good times.
"I remember all that... going fishing, accidentally capsizing the boat on the lake." she said as she laughed, she too had very fond memories of that summer house, she couldn't remember the last time that she had been there.
"Oh yes, I remember that... those times were the best. I can't remember the last time I've been back there, or any of us have for that matter." said Dom as he smiled.
"True." replied Natasha as she nodded.
"I was thinking, maybe we should make it a family trip and go over there sometime during the summer." said Dom as Natasha served the leftovers.
"I mean, we could go show Joy where we all had our fun summer memories, and we could make some more memories over there." he said.
"Oh, I really don't know about that... I had no plans to go anywhere this summer." replied Natasha, it was not like she was turning his ideas down, but she truly didn't have any plans to go anywhere right now.
It was honestly just bad timing, after all the store just opened and it was still in the early stages, and Chloe would be going on vacation with her family for the summer. The both of them couldn't just leave their business unsupervised closely by either one of them.
"The store just opened, Chloe will definitely be going on vacation, I can't leave too, even if it's just for a day." said Natasha.
"I see, I understand, but it would be a quick trip." said Dom as Natasha scoffed.
"Oh please, we both know it won't be a quick trip because if the others know that we're going there, they will definitely tag along and once we get there it's like we won't want to leave anymore, trust me, I am sure of that." she said as Dom laughed.
"You're right about that, alright, so maybe we can go some other time." he said.
"Sure." she replied.
"Oh, before I forget, where's Nine? I thought he would pick Joy from school." said Natasha.
"He was going to, but I figured since I was already on my way home early I would just pick her up instead." he replied.
"Oh, alright." she replied expecting him to leave but he was still standing there.
"Aren't you going back to work?" she asked.
"No, I'm staying home for the rest of the day. Let me go change." he replied leaving the kitchen as Joy walked in giggling.
"Are you ready to eat lunch now my darling?" smiled Natasha as Joy giggled and nodded.
...
Natasha yawned, she was exhausted, she could not remember Joy having so much energy, she literally jumped up and down the entire afternoon and Natasha was starting to worry if everyday Joy would be in such high levels of energy.
Natasha got herself a bowl of ice cream, grabbed her laptop walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa.
There was nothing more relaxing than some peace and quiet accompanied by wonderful ice cream as she checked the store's first day report on sales.
Natasha opened her laptop and tasted her ice cream. It was as good as she remembered.
"Joy is finally asleep." said Dom as he chuckled and walked into the living room.
"Mhmmm, that girl really does have too much energy." she replied quickly, hoping that he would take the hint that she wanted to be alone and leave, but unfortunately he continued standing there.
"What?" she asked.
"Nothing, I just wanted to ask how the store's launch went? I left before anything really happened." he said.
"Well things went on fine, perfectly fine." she replied vaguely.
"I really meant it when I said that I am proud of everything you have accomplished. I am really impressed." he said.
"Do you want me to say thank you to that or what?" she asked.
"You are free to say whatever you want to say." he replied.
"I'm just surprised that grandfather hasn't called me yet." she said.
"Oh he has, he called me to ask of you because he didn't want to disturb you." said Dom.
"That's sweet of him... I was wondering why he was so quiet." laughed Natasha.
"If you're really missing hearing his voice then you should call him yourself." laughed Dom.
"No way, not right now, I don't have the patience to talk to him right now." she laughed.
"You're telling me, I had to make up some excuse to get him off the phone." laughed Dom.
"We can't blame him, he's old, talking to their grandchildren and great grandchildren is really most of what they have to look forward to." said Natasha.
"Speaking of great grandchildren, Grandfather's asking when we're going to repay him for allowing up leave the party early tomorrow." said Dom.
"We can discuss that later, I'm tired and right now all I want to do is read this report I just received." said Natasha.
"And also eat ice cream." he added.
"And also eat ice cream." she nodded.
"So if you wouldn't mind can you leave me in peace?" she asked.
"You don't have to tell me twice." he replied.
"Goodnight." he said as he smiled.
"Goodnight." she replied as he left and she sighed in relief, finally some peace and quiet.
...
Natasha yawned as she got out of bed. She felt terrible, her period this month was really more intense than the last. Maybe it was due to stress or some other issues but she definitely felt really worn out.
She brushed her teeth and headed downstairs to prepare herself a cup of tea only that she was surprised to see Dom there already.
"Good morning." he said to her with a smile.
"Good morning." she replied narrowing her eyes at him when she noticed he was drinking tea.
"It's not yours, I bought mine remember?" he asked knowing fully well what she was thinking about.
"It better be." she replied making her cup of tea and walking to the living room.
She sat on the couch and picked up her laptop from the coffee table, she had left it there the night before.
She opened her laptop and checked through her emails when she saw Dom pass by the living room door and a few minutes later came back downstairs and flashed by once again.
He surprisingly walked into the living room with his laptop in hand as he sat in the armchair on the right.
Natasha narrowed her eyes at him, plain t-shirt, jeans and messy hair, it looked like he wasn't going anywhere today which was odd considering it was a Tuesday and not a Saturday and even on Saturdays he worked.
Dom could feel Natasha staring at him hotly, but he just ignored it, hopefully she would go back to working. This was his house too, and he wanted to sit in the living room for a change while he worked as well.
He saw no reason why they could not both share the same space for once.
"What are you doing here?" she asked him as he looked at her feigning ignorance.
"What do you mean?" he asked innocently, almost making Natasha scoff.
"Aren't you going to work today?" she asked as he sipped his tea.
"Nope, I am taking an off day, I was so exhausted yesterday." he replied. "Me not going to the office for one day won't put the company in shambles." he added.
"How nice." she scoffed, why was it the one day she decided to stay home and rest was the same day he decided to do the same.
She didn't know why but she didn't trust him one bit, not at all. She felt like he was doing this on purpose. Somehow he knew that she would be home today.
Dom decided to ignore her intense stare. She couldn't accuse him of anything, how was he to know that she would be staying home today as well? It was just a coincidence, a very unfortunate one.
Natasha decided to ignore him. She wouldn't let him distract her, she was sure that was his mission to annoy her and distract her today, but it wouldn't happen.
She continued looking through her emails and sipping her tea. The two of them stayed in silence as they individually worked on their computers.
"Madam, young master, breakfast is ready." said Alfred while smiling as he walked into the living room, he could not lie, his eyes almost fell out when he saw the two of them in the same room in peaceful silence.
