Chapter 573 - Off day

Alfred almost felt like jumping for joy, but he didn't. He was full of happiness right now, when last did he remember seeing both Dom and Natasha together in one room, silent not from anger or resentment but a common understanding.

"Alright Alfred, we'll be right there thank you." replied Natasha as she smiled and he nodded before leaving the room.

As soon as he was sure he was out of earshot he brought out his phone. He felt like this was just too much of good news for him to keep to himself, he had to tell Ernest.

As he was about to dial Ernest's number, he paused. He realized that this was their private matter, if they were on good terms, he did not want to be the one to ruin it by telling their personal matters to people outside the home, even if it was his boss Ernest.

Alfred decided to control himself and let the young couple work through their problems alone as they were entitled to. After all, he had a feeling that if there had been no external interference in their relationship in the past, they would still be happy together.

"Joy is not awake yet." said Dom as he had a feeling Alfred felt way too joyous about seeing them together in the same room.

"I don't blame her, she was way too energetic yesterday, besides, it's summer we should let her sleep for as long as she wants to." Natasha replied putting her laptop on the coffee table.

She was starving and breakfast was already sounding too appetizing.

"So we should eat breakfast without her?" asked Dom.

"Firstly, there's no we, and secondly, I'll just ask Alfred to make her some pancakes later." Natasha replied as she left the living room.

Dom just shrugged not minding how rudely she answered him, he was just asking a simple question, he did not mean it the way she thought he did.

He put his laptop down on the chair and walked to the kitchen to get breakfast. He too was starving and he could not lie he was enjoying the peace and quiet without Joy jumping around so early in the morning.

He loved his princess yes, but at his age, things were starting to slow down more for him and he was starting to almost get dizzy when he watched Joy jump up and down.

Natasha walked into the living room, she decided to have breakfast here while she continued working. She sat down and took a bite of her eggs when Dom walked in with his breakfast in hand.

At that point they both narrowed their eyes at each other. It seemed that they both had the same idea to eat breakfast here.

"Oh come on, what are you doing here?" Natasha asked clearly annoyed.

"Clearly I'm eating breakfast just as you are." Dom replied as he sat down.

"No, you knew I was coming here so you followed me." she accused.

"Gosh Natasha, relax, I just decided to have breakfast here so I can continue working." he replied.

"Why are you even here today of all days that I decide to stay home?!" she seethed. It was like she was unable to avoid him, get rid of him, even for just a day, he was always present and it irked her so much.

"I don't know, I also don't know why you decide to stay home on my off day." he replied.

"It was my off day first!" she responded.

"What does that even mean? There's no such thing." he replied.

"I woke up first, I came here first, which means I was first to have the idea to make today my off day!" she exclaimed.

"Well who's to say that I didn't think of having an off day last night?" he replied as she scoffed.

"You're just so very annoying." she muttered.

"What are we doing Natasha? Arguing like children." said Dom as he calmed down realizing that this was a truly stupid argument. It was just a very unfortunate coincidence that they had both targeted today as an off day.

"If you want me to leave I'll leave so you can enjoy your off day as you wish to." he said as he sighed.

"Stop acting so selfless, I know you, and you probably just want me to feel guilty, well I'm not going to feel guilty so leave." said Natasha as Dom sighed and was about to do just that when the pitter patter of tiny barefoot feet of a still sleepy five year old walked into the living room.

"Mommy, daddy, are you arguing?" asked Joy as she yawned and rubbed her eyes.

"Darling, you are finally awake." said Natasha as Joy walked to hug her.

"Mhmm, and I heard you and daddy arguing." she said as Natasha shot Dom a dirty glare as he was offended, what did he do this time? She couldn't blame him for their arguing, it took two people to argue.

"No princess, we weren't arguing, it was just a silly misunderstanding, good morning my princess." said Dom as he gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"Okay, good morning daddy, good morning mommy." said Joy as she giggled.

"Good morning my sweet darling, how was your first day sleeping in?" asked Natasha as she caressed Joy's hair.

"It was fine, but I'm still tired." said Joy as she yawned.

"I'm hungry." she said as both Natasha and Dom laughed.

"Of course you are, I think we should stop feeding you so much, maybe that way you'll have less energy." said Dom as he tickled her tummy and she giggled.

"No, no I am hungry!" replied Joy as she giggled.

"She's a growing child, of course she needs as much food as she needs so she can grow up healthy and strong." said Natasha.

"So what do you want your breakfast darling?" asked Natasha as she smiled.

"Pancakes!" exclaimed Joy.

"I thought as much. Alfred is going to make you some pancakes right now." she replied.

"Have you brushed your teeth?" asked Dom as Joy shook her head and laughed sheepishly.

"Come on princess, let's go brush your teeth." he said as he carried her and she squealed in delight.

Natasha smiled as she saw them leave as they laughed. Dom was many unpleasant things, but she could not lie that above all he was a good father.

"You know princess, one day, I'm not going to be able to carry you like this, so easily." Dom said as they walked up the stairs.

He just realized right there and then that as Joy would get older, so would he, and time was moving very quickly. He just wanted to cherish every moment he had with her.

"I can't wait to get older daddy." she replied as he walked into her room.

"Why?" Dom asked surprised.

"So I can drive a car." she replied seriously.

"A car?" Dom asked as he put her down and she nodded.

"You want to be grown up so you can drive a car." he laughed as she nodded.

"Mhmmm." she replied as he laughed and put toothpaste on her toothbrush.

"Well you'll have enough time to drive a car when you're older, but for now, don't grow up too fast my princess." he laughed.

"Don't worry daddy I won't." she replied as she smiled and he helped her brush her teeth.

"Daddy, who taught you how to drive?" asked Joy as she finished brushing her teeth.

"Well it was your grandfather, and boy was he tough when he taught me how to." laughed Dom remembering some very harsh memories.

"But why?" asked Joy.

"Well because he taught me how to drive using his prized BMW, he was very particular when I was behind the wheel, nitpicking on every single thing. Every Sunday evening I just hoped that the time would pass by quickly." said Dom, he could see how worried Joy looked.

"But you don't have to worry about that driving lesson experience because I'm going to teach you how to drive and I won't yell or be unfair like my father way." he laughed.

"Okay." she said smiling.

"Daddy, aren't you going to work today?" she asked realizing that it was late in the morning and he was still here.

"No princess, I am not going to work today. I am going to stay home to rest and spend some time with you." he said as he smiled.

"Okay, yayyyyyy." said Joy laughing as her tummy rumbled and she giggled rushing off.

"Pancakes!!" Joy shouted as she rushed into the kitchen as Alfred smiled at her.

"Good morning Joy." said Alfred as he smiled.

"Good morning Alfred." she said as she gave him a hug.

"Here are your pancakes." he said smiling as he handed her a plate full of pancakes.

"Thank you Alfred." she replied cheerfully leaving to the dining room with her lovely plate of pancakes in hand.
