After settling her few clothes, Demetra headed to the academy.
This time she was the first to arrive as she saw Archer waiting alone in front of the doorway.
"We will leave as soon as the other three arrive"
Even though Demetra did not ask he informed respectfully.
Demetra nodded back and waited till Ava, Rubin and the orange knight arrived.
The orange knight was a sweet little girl with ginger hair and green eyes. She seemed quite shy and greeted the four with a shy 'hello'. Her name was Hazel Rivers and Demetra thought it suited her well.
The four of them were led inside the building and Archer took them to a huge room that resembled a banquet hall.
On the way, Rubin kept trying to talk to Demetra but was only responded with curt one-word answers.
When they arrived in the hall, Demetra noticed that there were almost all the knights gathered in the hall, with only the white knight and brown knight missing.
In the middle of the hall was a structure consisting of a wide bowl placed on a short pillar. It was entirely made of white marble and the water in the bowl was slightly glowing.
Archer brought the four of them to the bowl.
"This Maelicht will test the intensity of your powers. You just have to inject your magic into the water."
Although the three coloured knights know of it, Demetra would still find it new. So Archer explained how to use it.
Ava went first and dipped her fingers in the water. Soon the luminescent glow of the water turned light pink and it kept increasing in intensity until it reached the shade of salmon pink.
She withdrew her fingers in a victorious smile. The colour was darker than in her last reincarnation.
She gave Rubin a mocking look when he stepped in after her. Rubin scoffed at her and dipped his fingers in the water. He then injected his powers into the water.
The luminescent glow which had returned to normal after Ava withdrew her fingers now started to get dyed in a shade of red.
The colour was lighter at the start but it slowly increased in intensity until it reached the shade of blood.
The colour was obviously darker when compared to Ava. Rubin returned Ava's mocking look to her as he stepped back.
Ava huffed and turned away.
Hazel took her turn next and her colour was slightly darker than Ava's.
At last Demetra's turn arrived.
She stepped forward and dipped her fingers in the water. She was surprised as the water felt warm rather than cold.
Demetra slowly released her magic from her fingertips. The other knights started murmuring among themselves when they saw the black swirl around Demetra's fingers turned the water deep black as soon as it spread.
Demetra retracted her fingers and the black water, which seemed to absorb all the light around it disappeared slowly returning the water of the Maelicht to its original luminescent nature.
Before Demetra stepped back the pillar holding the water bowl flashed and began glowing.
The light changed from the top to the bottom the top being black followed by white and then the colours Red, Brown, Blue, Silver, Grey, Yellow, Gold, Green, Orange and finally pink.
"Seems like the rank remains unchanged this time as well."
A light blonde-haired young lady with slight Asian features laughed as she clapped and stepped forward from the crowd.
"It's nothing surprising"
An ashen grey-haired young man responded as he stepped forward next to the lady. They both seemed to be similar in age to Demetra's brother, the brown knight.
The blonde lady chuckled and stepped toward Demetra.
"Hello Demetra, I'm Stella Chong and this guy here is Ezra Mendez" She pointed towards the young man next to her. "Both me, Ezra along with your brother are professors in the academy."
"We will teach you the basics, how to control your power and assess all other knights until you are ready." Stella smiled.
Demetra nodded at her and shook Stella's hand when she extended a handshake.
"These are your seniors" Stella pointed to the other four knights behind her.
"You must have met Logan and Archer. This is Lindo and Aurora." Stella pointed towards the Green knight and Gold knight.
"Hello, Demetra! Welcome to the academy!" Aurora hooked her hand around Demetra's cheerfully.
"Let us show you around the campus after class. Alright?" Lindo grinned.
Demetra nodded at them.
"My! you are a quiet one aren't you?" Aurora remarked with her eyebrows raised. "Let's head to the classroom, shall we? It's Stella's introductory class and we are free today after it ends."
As soon as Demetra nodded she was dragged away towards the classroom by Aurora.
The atmosphere in the hall quietened immediately after the two left.
"Looks like we are lucky this time," Lindo smiled wryly.
"Well, Archer's got nothing to worry about since Aurora is his mate." Stella smiled.
"So do I, Brown and Young master Grimoire," Rubin uttered calmly with his hands behind his head.
Everyone quietened down at that and the atmosphere turned gloomy.
"Since none of us happened to be her mate let's just forget about the matter now, shall we?" Logan smiled breaking the silence.
Ezra sighed. "Let's do that"
With that everyone dispersed to do their work.
Stella took the first years to the classroom and found Aurora and Demetra seated next to each other and chatting livelily. It was more like Aurora doing the talking one-sidedly while Demetra simply nodded or shook her head from time to time.
Although Aurora does not need to attend the introductory class Stella just let her be since the class is mainly for Demetra.
Rubin sat behind Demetra while Ava sat farthest on the other side away from Rubin.
Hazel just chose a random seat and sat down.
Stella clapped her hands. "Alright, now that everyone's seated let's begin, shall we?"
"I will now begin with basic history.
As you know our academy is built to train the order of Spectral knights. We all know that there are twelve spectral knights.
When humans were first born, malice was also born along with them as it stems from the negative thoughts of the human mind. When malice accumulates beyond limits, it gives birth to a demon which can corrupt the human mind and destroy humanity.
God created the Spectral order to eliminate the malice before it gives birth to a demon. The first Spectral order included only two knights, the black knight and the white knight.
The two were also soulmates and together they destroyed the demon but lost many human comrades and the white knight almost perished.
The black knight used her powers of revival and brought everyone dear to her back to life. But there was one great repercussion when every generation of black knights used revival.
Their soul is forever bound to the underworld under the mercy of the God of death. And they can never reincarnate."
