4 - Grant's Mate
Arabell touched her sore neck, though it was no longer dripping blood. The girl had cleaned herself using the water in the bucket provided by the inn and put her clothes back on. She was now sitting on the edge of the bed nervously.
"Does it still hurt?" asked Grant, who was lying on his side by Arabell's side. He had no intention of harming his Luna, but it was the only way to mark her.
Arabell shook her head and looked down. She didn't dare to look at Grant's face. What they did made the girl want to sink into the well in shame.
Grant smiled a little. The man now easily knows his Luna's feelings. To tag the girl means to connect their hearts and minds.
He pulled the girl's arm closer. "You have to get used to being close to your mate."
The scent of lilac wafted gently from Arabell's body and made him passionate again. Grant brought their faces closer and kissed his lover's tiny lips.
Grant's fingers slowly traced Arabell's curves. However, the man suddenly let go of the hug. He immediately grabbed his kilt, which was lying next to them, and put it on in a hurry.
"Grant, what's wrong?" asked Arabell, confused. The girl looked around, but she didn't find anything out of the ordinary. The sky outside the window was still the same black and the only sound that could be heard was the singing of the nocturnal animals.
However, it is different with Grant. The man's face was tense. He lifted his head as if trying to sniff the scent from outside the bedroom door before rushing to the window and opening it.
"Get out! Now!" said Grant. He grabbed Arabell's arm then pushed her back through the window.
Arabell didn't argue. The girl followed orders.
A pair of bare feet suddenly stepped on the grass that covered the ground. However, not for long. Seconds later, Grant had caught up with the girl's shoes. "Quickly put it on."
However, just as Arabell had managed to put her shoes on, there was a knock on the door of the room where they were staying. The girl spontaneously turned towards the wide-open window. There were two men with skin as pale as corpses and eyes as red as blood, who were looking around while wielding a sword with the symbol of a demon's head.
Arabell's heart was beating fast. The girl's legs were shaking violently. Now, it was time for her to betray the man who was by her side.
"Don't be afraid, I'll take care of you," said Grant. He was misinterpreting his Luna's feelings. "Come on!"
Grant's fingers grabbed Arabell's before they ran. The galloping of the horse's hooves that was initially audible became clearer every second. It didn't take long for them to be surrounded.
Ten horses and their riders had surrounded the two. Grant immediately pushed Arabell's body behind his back. He got into a stance as the five vampires got off the saddle.
Viscount Oswald, who had put his feet on the ground first, helped his lover off the horse. He kissed the back of her hand before giving a compliment. "Brilliant."
Damn leech!
Grant gave a low growl. He puffed out his chest and bared his fangs to frighten his enemies.
However, that action only made the vampires chuckle in amusement. Emerald's red eyes stared at Arabell and she smiled sweetly. "Good job, Arabell."
As if receiving orders, Arabell came out of Grant's shadow. The girl ran towards Emerald who was grinning triumphantly.
"Arabella, what do you mean?" Grant's face was flabbergasted, shocked in disbelief.
However, no answer was obtained. Arabell stood back to back not willing to look at all.
"How could that be?" whispered Grant cluelessly. "You are my destined mate! How could you betray me?!"
Arabell covered her ears tightly with both palms. However, she still could feel the man's anger and disappointment.
Emerald, who had been watching them for a while, burst out laughing. "The best way to catch a male dog is to bait it with a female."
Grant roared. The man's body transformed into a giant wolf. Silvery white hairs cover the skin, while the face is shrunk to form a snout and fangs. All four of its paws clawed out, ready to lunge.
The five vampires surrounding the werewolf immediately drew their swords. However, in contrast to Emerald, she rushed to cover behind Arabell's body and strangled her neck.
Arabell's mouth reflexively opened wide. The girl struggled to try to take oxygen from the air.
"Relax, Sweetie. We don't want to break your neck, do we?"
Arabell….
Grant's four legs suddenly stopped running. The creature moved restlessly and unconsciously let out a yelp.
"My Lord, look, that dog can't fight back," said Emerald. He turned to Oswald and smiled sweetly.
"Too bad I couldn't kill him, a werewolf rug would be a lovely decoration." Viscount Oswald smirked.
They had a discussion, killing an Alpha would only spawn a new Alpha. However, if they confine the creature, then the pack will not be able to do anything.
Grant growled without being able to put up a fight. The creature's pair of eyes focused on Emerald's nails scraping his Luna's neck.
"Bring him!" Viscount Oswald's orders. He mounted his horse and led his troops back to his castle.
