Grant stretched his tired body muscles after a one-on-three battle with his pack. Just, as usual, the man was able to easily defeat his match.
He stepped forward, headed for the protective wall exit, and shouted at Blair. "I'm going swimming in the lake! Guard this place until the evening!"
Blair laughed and waved at his Laird. The four of them knew that Grant's real reason is to run away from the women who keep trying their luck that they are the man's mate.
The sky was clear. Grant took a stroll through the tree trunks and breathed in the morning air. The scent of wood and grass, wet with dew, was a pleasant fragrance to his smell.
Continuing to walk, the man finally arrived at a wide expanse of grass with a lake with clear water in the middle of the field. It must be very comfortable to swim there.
Grant intended to undress. However, the man's eyes widened in surprise when he saw a strange figure kneeling washing her hands.
A maiden?
The girl has an oval face shape. Her skin was as clean as ivory white, contrasting the black color of her hair. From the kind of simple dress she was wearing, it seemed that she was from the lower-middle-class population.
Grant immediately hid behind one of the tree trunks. He observed the strange behavior of the girl who repeatedly looked around with her pair of black eyes.
However, not long after, the girl suddenly stood up. She then took off her clothes before stepping into the lake.
Grant's heart was beating fast. The body displayed by the foreign woman was very beautiful. The cold water washed away the dust and sweat that had previously stained the girl's hair and skin. A sigh of relief could be heard from her tiny lips.
A breeze blew toward Grant, carrying the scent of the human girl's body. A scent that reminded him of a lilac flower, a tiny purple flower that smelled sweet and soft.
Grant gulped. The man's heartbeat didn't slow down either. The girl, not realizing that she was being watched, finished her bath, coming out of the lake. She dried herself with a small cloth from her dress pocket before getting back into her clothes.
Drops of water dripped down from her long hair. The girl sat on the grass. With her fingers, she loosened the sticky water.
Grant counted silently until he reached twenty. The man then came out of hiding, as if he had just arrived.
The girl's head suddenly turned to Grant. The eyes, which were covered with thick eyelashes, widened in surprise when she observed the appearance of a man who had just come out of the forest.
Grant's massive figure who only used a kilt and cloth to cover the body scared the girl. She rose to her feet and backed away slowly with trembling legs.
Grant stopped walking. He didn't want to scare her anymore. Grant's eyes scanned the dark blue dress that covered the woman before him. He felt a bit of disappointment. The cute girl who was looking at him was much prettier without wearing a single thread.
"W-who are you?" The girl's eyes stared fearfully at the man much bigger than her.
Their heights differed quite a bit. The top of the woman's head only reached Grant's lips.
The intoxicating scent of Lilac made Grant's head cloudy. The man's clear mind was not functioning properly. He watched the tiny lips part slightly as if inviting to be tasted.
The girl breathed faster. Between fear and nervousness, she looked around, looking for a way to escape.
Grant held his breath. He had found his Luna. A tiny human girl who currently looks like a trapped mouse.
"What's your name?" asked Grant hoarsely. Just a few steps wide, he was able to grab the girl in his arms.
The girl looked up. She gulped and clenched her fists before stammering. "I-I'm the one who asked first, wh-who are you?"
Grant suddenly smirked. He liked his Luna. "You're scared, but dare to argue with me?"
The girl who seemed to be only sixteen years old stepped back again. She met Grant's gaze and gave him a stuttering rebuke. "Th-it's rude to scare a girl."
A burst of laughter escaped Grant's mouth until his body shook violently. He likes his Luna.
A blush appeared on the girl's cheeks. She didn't like being thought of as a joke by a barbarian man who didn't know how to dress. She looked back, trying to escape.
"Do not even try." Grant's words stopped the girl's movements. "I would have easily caught you, whereas I had no intention of scaring you."
The girl's heart was beating fast. She was alone, and the man in front of him looked scary. "W-what do you want?"
Grant folded his arms and tilted his head to look at the girl's face. They will have handsome and beautiful children.
"Your name."
"W-why do you want to know my name?" asked the girl to buy time, while a pair of feet stepped back again.
Grant smiled at his Luna's attempt to escape from him. "Because I'll call you Luna if you keep not answering my questions."
The girl's eyes suddenly widened. She had found the man she had to look for.
"Arabella..."
Grant's gaze softened. "Arabell…. I like that name."
Arabell studied the man. The gentleness of the tone of voice she heard eased her fear.
"Wh-what's your name?"
"I am Grant, Laird of the Faol clan."
"Werewolf clan …." The girl whispered with trembling lips.
Grant looked at Arabell curiously. "How do you know? From the way you dress you must be British."
Realizing the mistake she had made, Arabell licked her dry lips and lied. "I-I found out from my Uncle. H-he's a member of the MacGregor clan."
Unfortunately, Grant's attention was focused on the girl's lips. The man didn't even care about the answer he heard.
Arabell tried to overcome her fear. She had the task of bringing the big man in front of her into British territory, where Viscount Oswald's men were waiting to capture the man.
Grant looked around. They were lonely. The lake where he swims is indeed in a remote location. Confusion made the man's brow furrow. "How did you get here?"
"I-I fought with my aunt, then decided to go back to England myself, but the horse I was riding ran away." Arabell's words are not entirely a lie. The beast she was using had indeed run away, leaving the girl as she rested her feet on the grass.
Grant watched Arabell closely. He wanted to mark his Luna immediately. However, the girl would fight back.
"What's your next plan?" asked Grant curiously. Maybe he could lure Arabell into the castle and then seduce her until she agreed to be marked by him.
Arabell gulped. It turned out that it was not so difficult to carry out the task she carried out. "C-could you take me back to England? I-I'm scared and d-don't know what to do."
Again, she wasn't completely lying. If Grant didn't find her, she didn't know what to do. All her necessities were gone with the runaway horse and her only option was to walk back to England and receive the viscount's punishment.
Grant turned toward the forest where his castle was. He then looked back at the girl.
His pack was able to guard the castle as long as he drove Arabell to England. He needed that to win the girl's sympathy.
"All right," Grant replied with a big smile. Of course, it won't be difficult to get Luna's heart. Don't the girls in the Faol clan adore him? Two or three days later, he would have been able to possess the girl and bring her back to the castle to be introduced to his clan.
The girl's eyes sparkled with joy. Arabell breathed a sigh of relief. He sighed softly, almost crying. "Thank You."
Grant smirked. He didn't know that the girl was not only grateful for being sent home but because the man's words had just saved the life of her three-year-old little brother.
