Richard Pickford stood in his kitchen watching from the window as the police took his statement and walked out of the house. The young girl was seated at the back of the police car, cuffed, her eyes glued to the window as she stared at him back. She was only sixteen. Erica Harrison was her name.
He could tell from her long ginger hair and green eyes which sister she was talking about. If she was as naive and stupid as her sister, she would have made a nice collection for his one million dollar prize.
But he knew better, making the wrong choice of merchandise resulted in catastrophic consequences.
The policeman got into his car and drove off with the girl. He turned and gritted his teeth, hoping never to see her again.
