Chapter 12
"I am by the Redbury Mall, please send me the google location of your place" read the message from Delia.
The gala was now in full swing with the clubhouse filled to the brim. All the invited guests were being treated to some scintillating music by one of Redbury"s Jazz outfits. The night had lived to its billing thus far. The popping up of Jilian's message was not only a shocker but a rude awakening call for Jason that he had matrimonial cats in the closet to behave as though he was single and independent.
"Can you excuse me; I need to get home now I got an emergency darling" he requested in sheer panic.
"Is everything okay Jason?" curiously asked Jilian upon realizing that Jason had broken into an unusual mood all of a sudden.
"Delia is here, I gotta ensure sanity" he murmured to her concernedly as he stood up to vacate.
Jilian could not hide her disappointment as Jason's phone started ringing thereby necessitating a fast walk out on her. All he could do under the tense circumstances is hurriedly wave as he walked out. She had understood the compelling factors surrounding his unceremonious departure.
"Hello" he answered the intrusive phone call.
"I said I am by the Redbury Mall, where are you at darling?" she replied calmly.
"I am on my way, just wait I'll be there shortly darling" he responded as he looked for his bakkie only to realise that he had come in her BMW and had no car keys with him either.
There was no way he was going to use Jilian's car given the tense atmosphere.
He quickly found himself a taxi as he attempted to get to the mall which was a mere kilometre away. Whilst on his way, he discovered that he had no ring on his finger which worsened his discomfiture given that he had a beer stench to explain. Delia had seen him drinking wines before, but it was purely occasional and in very paltry doses. He had taken 3 cans of Heineken which had fast become his refreshing friend. Delia's sudden unannounced arrival compelled him to abandon the other 3 which were unopened on the table. Not that he had taken Jilian, whom he left in utter amazement at the gala, for granted, but had absolutely no choice other than do as such. He had to act responsibly not only as an obliged husband but also as a human person whose identity and value are derived from observing virtues. She also understood how fragile the situation had turned out to be so she decided to just knock it off as she continued enjoying the festivities.
"So, he thinks that I will settle for less, never" she uttered to herself in soliloquy whilst driving off viciously from the pavilion section after the event.
She blew her worn relentlessly to other motorists who seemed to be dilly-dallying as she tried to negotiate herself out. The BMW screamed off as if it was herding for a destination that was hundreds of miles away when in actual fact it was just making for a neighbourhood location a mere kilometre and half off. She had been frustrated by his departure. She could not expose it whilst still in the clubhouse owing to the taking of one too many drinks, but as they say what one says when he/she is drunk has always been at the back of their head. It was on her mental wall that she would never play second fiddle to any woman, not only in terms of male attention but also in terms of professional success.
She knew it very well that she was ravishingly hot to get any men she wanted without even trying, but it was her boisterous sex appeal that kept the best of them at bay. Her exceptional facial beauty, coupled with her figurative attractiveness made her a beautiful lady and half for men to casually approach her. That coupled with her financial masculinity made her more or less a non-starter for the faint-hearted. Jason had not only impressed her with regard to sexual pleasure, but also in terms of ego. He had proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he could be as good as they came, if not stand his head and shoulders above the rest, be it in professional or social circles. Such exhibit of confidence and top personality etiquette, made Jilian write it boldly in his mind that he was worth her shot. His impressive bedroom performance powered by the huge size of his manhood had ticked her intimate expectations at one go.
Whist in the clubhouse, a certain gentleman who introduced himself as Master had approached her thinking that she was an easy catch only to realise that the sexy business maestro was not in the mood to entertain his flirtations.
"Hi, you look so amazing, can I have your digits?" he had bumped in with a compliment and request.
"Thank you! My number is public, but make sure your subject is strictly business, otherwise, I will not entertain any hogwash" she had responded whilst softly dancing to some soul-soothing jazzy sounds that were being belted.
"I am affectionately known as Master, never mind about my official name. I am the new Superintendent at Redbury Police station" he had boastfully attempted to impose himself with an authoritative tone.
"I am Jilian or Jilly and the Managing Director of JCC. My company is the one handling the ongoing road project" she had responded egocentrically as she reached for her purse where she pulled out a business card that she handed over to him.
She had looked at him from top to bottom in a status-sizing manner. He had to depart with a sense of disappointment and rejection after being told that she was not ready to socialize with anyone, but just drink her castle lite beers and listen to some scintillating jazz music. She had envisaged drinking just 6 but ended up taking 3 more. She had given the 3 Heinekens that Jason left to someone who was drinking that brand on her way out. She was a strong and calculative woman when it came to drinking alcohol. She rarely went out for drinks during midweek, preferring to sip her wines at home, but she could drink like a fish if she is in the mood. What was resolute about her was that she never mixed business with pleasure, let alone had perfect timing for her wild liquor consumption which often came at weekends. Jason's provocative departure had pushed her to exceed the projected booze limit. It remained to be seen whether the unseen arrival of Delia had more of a romantic than probe bearing.
