Chapter 62 - Chapter 61: Short Day, Short Fuze

To no one's surprise, the school day ended shortly. With a lot of ambulances, and even more animal control personnel sweeping the building— grumbling about how much more they needed to be paid to pull a live Buck's antlers out of a door.

It was safe to say everyone in the school had at least low grade ptsd from the event. Marco prayed the twin Alphas had something far worse. An immortal fear that stayed— festered in their minds. It made them tell the truth. That fear. The fear Marco put in them— fear of being seen. Even an Alpha couldn't swallow a nuke.

But Marco would find a way if his Mother wasn't in that bank vault….

He headed home alone, and was once again found running through the forest. The drive with Derek was silent. He appreciated the silence, his skull felt like it was splintering into a brittle amalgamation of hairline fractures from hammer blows dealt on the inside.

The mid day sun didn't help a single thing. And he usually loved the sun. It was in his genes to do so.

But not today. Like most of the day thus far, it was against the norm. His norm.

Thankfully they didn't round out of the somber street lined by forest and fold deeper into Beacon Hills until they reached Scott's home. They stayed on the trail and headed straight for the edge of the city.

He'd never felt better when the metal industrial zone of the pack hideout welcomed him.

The silence. The gravel under the wheels. The lack of fuel emissions in the air and trash on the earth.

When the car came to a stop Derek didn't immediately hop out. Marco almost left him.

"If you want to sit tonight o—"

"Are you crazy?"

Derek clenched his jaw, "I didn't think so."

"Good."

They exited the sleek black Camaro and entered the old warehouse.

The pack filled the main floor, sitting on and standing around the pickup truck he once used to transport lifting equipment and weapons.

"The hell took you two so long?" Stiles asked as he stood up from his huddle with Erica and Isaac.

"I asked Derek to drive them around the school four times." Scott shook his phone as he stood beside Victoria.

"He didn't notice... or at least he didn't say anything." Derek said as he walked with Marco to the others.

Marco stopped prematurely and eyed them.

"Actually, I told Scott to ask Derek. Our whole family feud and all… I didn't think he'd listen to me so easily. Scott on the other hand." Victoria explained as she shrugged off her grey blazer and high heels, leaving only a black t-shirt and pants underneath.

"What angle are you all working?" Marco snarled.

"They think your losing it, whiskers." Erica chimed in.

"Isaac, pull up a chair. I don't have time for your teenage soap opera bullshit." Marco pushed past them and pointed at the floor where he wanted Isaac.

"W-what are we doing?" Isaac asked as he got up hesitantly.

"Did nobody tell him?" Marco looked at everyone in confusion.

"Marco…" Scott started.

His skull ached.

"Marco w—"

Marco pounced on Scott, stopping directly in front of him with a snarl. He reached over and grabbed the truckbed behind Scott, flipping it over to get everyone on their feet with a heavy metallic screech as the metal skidded across the stone floor.

"WHAT!? Yes— yea, I got it. I'm not happy. I'm not well. My mother is missing— BOYD is missing…. Deaton is not here. And a pack of Alphas is hunting you. What are you going to do? What are you all suggesting? Why are you getting in my way?"

"Marco…. You're blanking out. A lot. You spear chucked a living Deer into an Alpha WereWolf…. That's awesome but you also made a threat to said WereWolves that would've killed us all. Even yoursel—"

"I'm not going anywhere until I get my people." Marco interrupted Stiles, still holding Scott's gaze. His eyes got redder by the day.

"We think, you should take the day off. It's close to the Full Moon. If you do something rash now, during planning, it could affect everything." Scott pressed.

"What?! And you think you got this without me? You think your going to bring my mother to me!? While I sit back?"

"Isn't that what a Pack is for?"

"Not this time. Erica. Chair. Now."

Scott didn't look away. He got angry.

Erica jogged off to go get a chair.

"My lord there's enough testosterone in the air to suffocate. Go do some push ups or something. Teenagers." Victoria started.

"You stayed on my side Scott. Thank you. If you still want a fight, say the word….. move a single finger." Marco couldn't hear from the pound of his heartbeat.

"Unlike you, I'm in control. I'm here Marco. I'm going to get our pack. And help you find your mom." Scott shot back. "Do you not feel that?"

Marco followed Scott's eyes to his shoulder and found Erica tapping him.

"We're ready."

Scott and the others went over to Isaac. He could smell the WereWolfs fear. Or could he?

He shook off the useless thoughts and approached Isaac.

"Why do I have to sit to get questioned?" Isaac started.

Marco looked at Derek. Derek looked at Scott.

"What? Why would his mind be any calmer if I told him one of you is jamming your claws into the back of his neck?"

"One of you is what?" Isaac questioned.

"Shifters can share memories through our claws breaking the skin near the spine. I assume the connection to the brain makes it a critical area of affect. An alpha spark can make the memory sharing more vivid." Marco explained.

"It can also override the mind and damage the beta." Derek explained.

"Which is why we need a more delicate, less Synthesized Alpha. Our least Synthesized Alpha."

Everyone looked at Scott.

"You're going in."
