Chapter 17 - I'm not selling my baby

Sienna was dreaming. She had to be. Otherwise, why was Damon Wright standing in her office?

He put a cup of coffee down on her office table and sat down calmly. Sienna rubbed her eyes, and sat up properly.

Sunlight was streaming into her office and she stared down at the papers she had been looking at the night before.

She looked from the papers to Damon and back again. It was real, she could smell the coffee and his cologne.

"You didn't come home last night," Damon stated. She couldn't tell if he was angry. Did he believe the cheating rumours and come to see if she had stayed the night with Jun?

"I'm sorry," She whispered, "I didn't mean to implicate the Wright family."

Damon studied her. She had clearly slept in her office. The clothes she had left the house in were rumpled and she had a line on her face from sleeping on a sheet of paper.

He held back a smile, it was cute. She looked very small and like a kitten that had just woken up.

But he saw the dark circles under her eyes, her chapped lips and troubled expression, and he frowned slightly.

When the news broke, he had called up his people and demanded to know the source. His face had darkened tremendously when he discovered who had provided the news.

"Your stocks are falling," He told Sienna. She nodded glumly before her sharp green eyes flashed and she sat up straight.

With steel in her voice, she looked him dead in the eye and declared, "I'm not selling my baby."

Damon wanted to laugh. Even when times were tough, she still had such a strong will and dedication to her company!

"I don't want to buy your company," He told her calmly.

"I don't care how much you offer, Alison and I worked hard to build this company, I won't- Wait, what?" His words finally registered for Sienna and she stopped herself mid-sentence.

She eyed him suspiciously, "You don't want to buy our company?"

Damon shook his head, taking a leisurely sip from his own cup of coffee. He gestured towards the cup he bought for her.

After taking a long sip from her coffee, Serena interlaced her fingers and tilted her head.

"What do you want, then?"

"To be an investor," Damon replied. When Sienna's eyebrows furrowed and she opened her mouth, he held up a hand and continued, "Not as Wright Enterprises. As myself."

Sienna narrowed her eyes, "Why?"

"Because you don't want to sell your baby," Damon replied easily.

Sienna schooled her expression into something more neutral as she considered her options. She didn't have many options at this point if she wanted to keep running her company.

She didn't know what Damon's motives were but for now, she had no choice but to trust him.

"Thank you for your interest, Mr Wright," She segued smoothly into a professional tone, "Let me run you through the company's practices and a look at the upcoming campaigns before you commit."

Damon's lips twitched, she was so cute when she became all serious and business-like. He had missed seeing her like this since their college days.

"No need," He told her.

"What do you mean?" Sienna's hand hovered over the tablet she was about to pick up.

"I understand how your business works and I have utmost faith in it," Damon leaned back and met her gaze, "We can proceed to invest immediately."

Sienna numbly called her secretary and asked for the investment documents to be prepared.

Damon stood and Sienna walked him to the door, but to her surprise, he grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him.

"Wait, wha-" She struggled a little, embarrassed by the entire office, including Alison who had returned with coffee, staring at them.

"Come home and rest first," Damon commanded, "You are no longer in crisis, you can come back later."

Alison's eyes had widened and Sienna tugged Damon along with her to whisper the update in Alison's ear. Alison's eyes grew even bigger if that was possible and she put the coffee down to fling her arms around Sienna.

When she pulled away, both women were smiling.

"Go home and change, at least," Alison shooed her away, "We can work the details out in the afternoon."

By the time they reached the car, Damon still had not let go of her hand.

Part of Sienna relished the sensation of his warm hand firmly grasping hers, it was something she had always longed for, but never gotten.

Now, she had it literally in the palm of her hand and it was all she could do not to close her fingers over his and cling on tight.

Damon let go of her so that they both could get in the car, but just when she was about to doze off, Damon raised the partition between them and the driver.

Sienna was now extremely alert, her nerves were sparking all over the place and she watched as he leaned closer to her, his lips nearly brushing hers as he spoke.

"One more thing," His voice was low and quiet, "Jun, you and I will have dinner tonight."

Sienna stared at him in shock. Maybe the scandalous news had made him want to do something reckless like throwing water in Jun's face or denouncing both of them as an adulterous couple and throwing divorce papers in their faces.

Her stomach clenched as she thought about Damon divorcing her.

Even though she had sworn not to love him this time round, it was hard to shake off feelings that she had spent years nurturing.

"What? Why?" She was proud that her voice didn't shake at all.

Damon smirked, "Why else? To put on a good show."

Sienna understood almost immediately. No sane woman would eat dinner with her husband and her lover. And no sane man would eat dinner with his wife and her lover.

If the three of them managed to look as if they were all well acquainted and on good terms, they could pass as friends or business acquaintances!

She pulled out her phone to call Jun and he agreed after some thought.

"He's in!" She hung up and turned to Damon, fire in her green eyes, "What's the plan?"

He leaned over to her and brushed a wisp of hair behind her ear.

"The plan," His fingers lingered on the shell of her ear, "Is to show the world that you're my woman."
