Everyone in the restaurant was looking at them.
Why wouldn't they? The powerful Damon Wright and the popular Jun Slater were at the same table!
And between them, the woman who had been rumoured to be two timing them, Sienna Astor.
With bated breath, the entire restaurant kept the table in sight and their ears strained for some indication that a confrontation between the husband and the lover was taking place.
Would there be shouting and throwing of divorce papers? Maybe someone would toss a glass of water in the other's face!
Most importantly, would Sienna make her choice clear?
While the rest of the world was making up their own imaginary scenarios, the table in questions was a bit awkwardly quiet.
"Thank you for agreeing to have dinner with us," Sienna told Jun, hoping to break the ice a little.
Jun inclined his head, "I appreciate the chance to clear the rumours, my publicist is hoping it will help to improve public opinion after the scandal."
Damon cleared his throat, "In the future, it would be safer to keep your business meetings to the day time and in office buildings."
Sienna looked at him in surprise. Perhaps she was imagining things, but she thought that Damon sounded a little bit… Jealous.
She huffed a small laugh, that was impossible. Damon didn't even love her, as long as she wasn't ruining his reputation, he didn't care what she did or who she saw.
Jun stared at Damon for a long while and Damon returned the gaze without flinching.
Sienna began to panic, this would give people the wrong idea! They were meant to act like friends not hostile like this!
"Um, well we will try to schedule our meetings better, but we didn't really plan our first couple of meetings," Sienna said weakly, hoping to ease the tension.
Both of the men seemed to be having a silent conversation.
Jun was sizing Damon up, wondering if this powerful tycoon was worthy of someone with a strong character like Sienna while Damon was wondering if Jun was attracted to Sienna and if Sienna was interested in men like him.
The waiter who was pouring their wine feigned disinterest but his heart was also racing as he waited to see what would happen next.
Finally, both turned to look at Sienna who offered them an uncertain smile.
"You're lucky to have such a capable wife, Mr Wright," Jun smirked, "I'm pleased that she has offered me the chance to be the ambassador for her company."
"My wife deserves nothing but the best, I hope your collaboration comes to fruition," Damon raised his glass and Jun raised his in response.
Sienna sighed in relief, the waiter sighed, the entire restaurant sighed as the two men toasted to Sienna's business relationship with Jun.
So there was no juicy affair or throwing of accusations, after all.
Sienna ate quietly and confusedly as the two men got more excited as they went on after the toast.
"Sienna was so persistent that she agreed to talk business with me even though it was late at night," Jun declared.
"She's so devoted to her company that she works overtime many days and doesn't even go shopping," Damon told him, placing his arm over Sienna's shoulders.
"To show her sincerity, she personally came to discuss business matters with me although she could have sent someone on her behalf," Jun leaned forward.
"Our professor said she had the sharpest business acumen in our cohort," Damon boasted.
Sienna's eyes went back and forth between them as though she was watching a tennis match, so bewildered that she had stopped chewing.
Instead of showing off their own wealth and status, they were showing off… On her behalf?
She shook her head, men were so weird.
Throughout dinner, Damon initiated more contact with her than he did in her previous life.
Sienna felt tingles run down her spine as his thumb brushed her elbow while he spoke, she struggled to keep a straight face as he fed her his food and wiped her mouth for her.
Her stomach erupted into butterflies as he held her hand on the table and she held her breath as he held her waist when they were walking out.
The three of them stopped outside the restaurant and shook hands in as professional a manner as possible. Sienna swore she could hear the cameras clicking furiously as they did.
Once Jun had gotten into his car and driven off, Sienna turned to Damon with a small smile, "Mission accomplished!"
He grinned devilishly at her, making her traitorous heart skip a beat.
"What makes you think this night is over?" He asked in a low voice. Sienna swallowed nervously.
Damon had caught her off guard by offering to invest and then had tested her resolve to hate him throughout the evening and now he was saying he wasn't done!
"What else is there?" She asked warily.
"Just follow me," Damon held her hand and started walking confidently.
Within fifteen minutes, they were stepping off a private dock and onto Damon's yacht.
From her past life's experience, Sienna knew that this was the smallest in his fleet and he used it when he wanted to be alone.
But here she was, with him.
Damon clapped twice and Sienna gasped. Fairy lights strung up across the yacht lit up and gave the ship a romantic glow.
Within moments, they were gliding across the dark waters as they admired the night view of the city.
Despite coming from a rich family, Sienna had only been allowed on her family's yacht once or twice.
To be sailing along the city's famous river was something she didn't get to do in her adult life. The wind was cool and she shivered a little as the city lights twinkled in the distance.
All of a sudden, she felt a warm weight come over her and she was startled.
As she grasped the soft fabric, she realised it was Damon's coat that was now wrapped around her shoulders.
She looked at Damon, who was standing beside her with a fond expression.
"It's chilly," He remarked.
Despite her pride, it really was quite cold and Sienna huddled into the coat, relishing the warmth from Damon's body that lingered in the material.
If she closed her eyes, she could almost believe that he was hugging her.
When she opened her eyes, they were filled with sadness.
Even in this life, she couldn't stop her heart from falling for her husband.
But because she was staring directly out into the night scenery, she didn't see Damon, staring at her with almost equal sadness in his eyes.
