Next morning when Jeanohntae went home. she saw her father sitting at the table with the biggest smile on his face.
"Dad, are you okay!?? What happened!?? Why are you smiling!??" She asked with a curious expression on her face.
"We don't need to move out! We can stay!" Rudy sounded so excited.
"What do you mean!?? What's going on!??" She was confused
"Last night, when you left. The dinner was over and Christian wanted to make amends and apologize for what happened. He said he's going to pay for our rent every month! Isn't this amazing. It's like we have a guardian angel" Rudy said more excited that he has ever been in years.
Jeanohntae who didn't want to ruin his happiness. Just decided to smile and hug her dad.
"That's amazing dad! I'll be right back, I want to thank him in person." She said walking out the door.
Little did Rudy know, she was going over to yell at him.
'What is so hard to understand when I say leave us alone!??' She yelled in her head. While heading to C.M Holdings to confront Christian about his gesture.
30 MINUTES LATER at C.M Holding:
"Hello Ms. Jeanohntae, Mr. Maddox is expecting you." Ruth said.
Jeanohntae was stunned like Christian already knew she would be coming to see him. Jeanohntae hesitantly followed Ruth to his office. Opening the big doors to his office, Christian was sitting at the edge of his desk drinking a glass of Rosé.
"You may leave us now Ruth. Thank you." Christian gestured Ruth who bowed before leaving them alone.
"What is your problem!??" Jeanohntae was the first to break the silence.
"Sorry. I don't really know what you mean. I'm only doing a favor. Is something wrong with that!??" Christian said with a slight grin on his face.
"My family is my family. We don't need you or your money. Leave us alone! I won't ask again." With that, she left. She didn't want to spend another second with him.
As she was heading out, she was about to cry. "I'm sorry Christian, I don't want to do this to you, but I need the truth first.'
Christian was left speechless. He only thought of doing so to apologize. He did not expect Jeanohntae to hate him so much. "There must be something going on with her that she doesn't want e anymore." Christian said to himself. He was right.
Christian frowned, didn't know what else to do. He has already apologized for what he has done but it seemed like something else was eating away at Jeanohntae's heart.
'What could it be' Christian thought.
30 MINUTES LATER Jeanohntae's home.
Jeanohntae went upstairs and went through an old box in her closet. She pulled out a letter that was addressed to her father a year ago. In the letter it read:
"Dear Rudy,
I know you told me not to write to you about Maelene, but I just wanted to let you know that Jeanohntae is no longer in any danger. Maelene believes that Christian is her son and doesn't know that Jeanohntae exists. I don't know when you want to tell Jeanohntae about her mother, but I really hope it's sooner than later. Maelene has decided to go to the mental hospital in Z City which is miles away from where we're at now. We will be heading back to New York next year. I just wanted to let you know. See you both really soon. Give Jeanohntae a hug for me. Best wishes to you both!

After reading the letter, Jeanohntae broke into tears. She found the letter opened on the kitchen table when she came home and her father was out of the house. She kept it cause she couldn't believe that her own father would keep her from the truth about her mother. She wanted to run away and find Maelene, but she wanted to know the real truth from Rudy himself. That day however, will have to wait until the right time to confront her father.
LATER IN THE EVENING
Her father was out with Joseph catching up on everything they had missed in each other's lives. Christian however was still at the office thinking what could have happened over the years that made Jeanohntae like that.
Jeanohntae was home alone and found herself falling asleep. So she went to shower and got in her pajamas ready for bed.
She dozed off into a deep sleep until in the middle of the night, she woke up from a loud noise in the kitchen.
She went to investigate thinking it was her dad drunk and turned on the lights. She saw two people in masks rummaging through everything.
'Oh my god! We're being robbed!' She yelled in her head.
The two masked robbers saw her the minute she turned on the lights. She didn't have enough time to run. She turned around about to escaped. All of a sudden.
