Kara barely got 30 minutes sleep before Liv busted into her room.
"Oh my God Kara!!!" She squealed and bounced on the bed.
Kara groaned. Her head felt like it was about to split in two.
"Why are you always so cheerful in the morning? Geez I have an awful headache." She snapped at her friend.
Liv ignored what she said and grabbed her cheeks.
"Heard you made out with Adrian Frost this morning." She said.
"What!" Kara exclaimed and pushed her off. "I did no such thing, I barely know the guy."
She wobbled to the bathroom and came out some minutes later. Liv had set her cloths on the bed and stood with her hands on her hip.
"Well what did you do? Someone swears it was in the library and they found you both on the floor, another says you were coming out of Adrian's room... and so on. My guess is the library but wow, you work fast. Adrian rarely ever let's a girl touch him." Liv was saying.
Kara groaned as she sat to let Liv do her hair. Funny how she had always been so conscious of her hair and now, she didn't even know where her beanie was.
"I did not make out with Adrian. We were both at the library at the same time, coincidence." Part truth part lie.
It wasn't that she didn't trust Lily, she just needed all her information together before she let anyone out of the bag.
Someone knocked and opened the door.
"Ugh Klaus, don't tell me you also heard the stupid rumour?" She groaned and threw her pillow at him.
Klaus grinned. "That's what the guys are talking about. The new girl and killer frost. Apparently, you've melted the iceberg."
"Killer Frost?" Kara looked from Liv to her brother with her eyebrow raised.
"Well yeah. Adrian Frost isn't exactly the most accommodating. 2 years ago, he controlled a guy and made him burn himself."
"I'm sure he had a reason for it..."
"The guy called him Frosting."
Kara's mouth fell open. "What happened to the guy?"
Klaus shrugged. "He now has a burn tattoo on his arm that says 'asshole'. Adrian got suspended for a week."
Kara held back a laugh. She had no idea why she found it funny.
They walked to the cafeteria with her brother and her friend bickering. When they got there, the cafeteria became silent. Everyone was staring at them.
Someone whistled, making Kara's cheeks turn red in anger. Her vision fell on Adrian and she stormed to him.
"Why do people think there is something between us? I just met you!" She growled and sat facing him.
He smirked and leaned towards her, making her lean back. Wasn't he supposed to be a slightly quiet cold guy?
~How else are we going to explain why we are together in secret? Or do you want to tell them you are the famous wanted taboo child?~
"Hello wolf girl." He said out loud and placed his hand on her hair.
"I don't like it." She growled and narrowed her eyes at him. He was right though but she pushed his hand off.
~How about we let them believe I'm trying to seduce you but you keep resisting?~
Somebody giggled and said. "The way they stare at each other is so romantic."
There were murmurs of agreement from a nearby table.
Kara gritted her teeth and turned away. Klaus was laughing with Liv, making Kara blush all the more. This was all too high school cliche for her. 'New girl joins the IT boys', really?
"So you two are together for real?" Houston eyed them with a mischievous grin.
Adrian leaned closer again and stared at her with a smile. "She keeps resisting but she is obviously attracted to me."
"I am not attracted to you!" She snarled and slammed her fist on the table. The hall hushed as everyone turned in her direction.
Adrian laughed and patted her head. "See what I mean? Resisting."
Ash who was seated beside her whispered. "Just ignore them."
She turned to him and smiled. "Thanks... you are quiet, unlike your brother."
"He talks enough for the both of us." He smiled and changed the topic.
He told her about all the human movies he watched and they bonded till it was time for class. The classes went by in a blur as usual.
Sighing, she pushed the clinic door open and walked in. Dimitri looked up and smiled at her, shyly she smiled back.
"I was starting to think you weren't coming to visit." He teased and she rolled her eyes.
"Considering I almost killed you, although it was your fault, I didn't think I would be welcomed."
She sat by the chair and studied him. His hand and leg were in a cast and a bandage was wrapped around his chest and head.
"You look terrible. Shouldn't you be healing fast?" And she felt guilty about that.
Dimitri grinned. "Terrible yes, but proud. And yes, I'm healing fast. If you did this to any other person, they wouldn't look this healthy."
Her mind drifted to Adrian Frost and the fight they had in her mind. Maybe she could spar with him one of this days... an actual spar. Dimitri grabbed her hand with his other hand and squeezed it. He looked into her eyes, his were sad.
"I wish we could hide you away forever where no one could find you." He whispered and closed his eyes.
She opened her mouth to speak but he interrupted her.
"What is this I hear about you and Frost?"
Kara groaned. "Not you too. It's not.... he seems like a decent human being and he is not bad to look at, which makes him likeable." She almost choked with her quick cover up. She couldn't tell him, not yet.
Dimitri laughed. "So is Ash and Ezra."
"Ash maybe. Ezra, na I wouldn't say that about him."
"So you won't go for the quiet one and you won't go for the angry tease. But you'll pick the one that is a little bit of both?" He smirked.
Kara hit his chest, making him wince.
"I guess you aren't bruised enough." She sneered and turned to walk away. "I'll be back tomorrow, try not to die before then."
He chuckled which made her smile as she walked out. Curiosity had her turning towards the library. Would he be there? She wanted more information from him but he got on her nerves.
Maybe she should ask Liv for help with learning to block him out. Liv knew it was Adrian in her head but she didn't know the why. She probably suspected it was because he was trying to seduce Kara.
But then again, only Adrian, and probably Hartridge, knew how to stop the control of a strong mind weaver. He wasn't even controlling her yet.
Kara didn't realise how much she had begun to think like them. How much she had the instincts of a wolf and an Elemental working all the time.
