Chapter 57 - Crying again

Jefferson entered the elevator alone while the security officers remained outside the door. I looked at Jefferson who had not said anything to me since we met hours ago. "Did the king order you to arrest us?" I asked him.

"No, I was ordered to wait until you request my presence," he replied sincerely and I bit my lower lips before looking away.

"I wonder who requested your presence, then," I said looking at my cat who avoided my gaze guiltily.

I bit my lower lips and looked away. "I am sorry but you should understand that I am a cat and not a human who has control over my actions," she told me when she followed me into my room as I left unable to keep staring at them.

"I never knew when cats lost control of their actions," I told her with a trace of sarcasm in my voice despite how I tried to consciously tune it down.
