When the pair arrived at the docking site for the Awakened Academy, they were blown away by the sheer size of the island that housed the school. Called the Acropolis, the artificial island was built on was approximately eight kilometers wide at its widest point and was in the shape of a circle. At the very center a tall glass tower stood, surrounded by several other buildings on each side. The tower in the middle was known as "the tower of the awakened" and it was the headquarters for the Global Awakened Association where gatecrashers would go to get registered before going out to close dimensional doors. This was also where those who punished unlawful gatecrashers worked. The leader of the association, Joseph Marquette, was considered to be one of the strongest awakened in the world.
Surrounding that were buildings that you'd normally see in a city, shops, theaters, a hospital, apartments and other buildings where select people would be allowed to live. There were even parks scattered throughout, covered in lush greenery and beautiful gardens. To get permission to live on the Acropolis, you had to have a large circle of influence, only the elite of the elite called it home. Due to the cost of living, businessmen, famous weapon smiths, powerful awakened, celebrities, and their families were the only people able to afford the cost of living. The only exceptions to this were the students who came to the Acropolis for the Awakened Academy. Due to the credit system set up by the school, students were able to afford food and some luxuries that they normally wouldn't be able to afford while living on the Acropolis.
The Awakened Academy was situated to the eastern side of the Acropolis and was surrounded by a large wall to prevent any trespassers from getting in. The main area of the school was a large square surrounded by buildings on all sides. Two of the buildings were large living complexes meant to house all the students among the two different grades that studied at the academy. Another building was dedicated to normal classes, such as history, math and the sciences. The last building was dedicated to practical training of abilities and combat. Across the campus there was also a building for staff of the academy, and also an arena where competitions were commonly held for the students to show off their abilities to the scouts of large guilds and corporations. There were other small buildings, but they weren't as important and mainly housed smaller classrooms, labs, and storage areas.
When walking up to the main gates there were hundreds of students, and when activating his ability Milo could see hundreds of orange icons floating about. He smiled in anticipation of all the different abilities he would encounter and have a chance at plundering.
While lost in thought, Krista pulled Milo over to where they were meant to check in, once they were given their room numbers and student id they were to take all their stuff to their dorm and then report to the practical training hall to undergo their ability evaluation.
When reporting to the dorms, they walked past a ton of students all laughing and just being students. A few looked nervous to start at a new school with other awakened kids but overall the atmosphere was one that Milo was hoping would stick around as he didn't have the fondest memories of school due to the bullies of his past. While it was messed up, he was happy that they wouldn't be attending following their untimely demise in the rift where he awakened his new system.
Once they arrived at the dorm building they were surprised at how modern everything looked, the entry was high tech and there were elevators to go between the floors. The boys dorms were on the odd numbered floors and the girls even. Including the first floor where the lobby and a few other things were located, the first year dorm was 11 floors tall. Krista's room was on floor 4 and was in a double room, meaning she had one roommate. Meanwhile Milo was on the ninth floor in a triple. Once he got to the doorway he was nervous to go through and meet who his roommates would be. His hope was that they wouldn't be mean thugs like he encountered during his first two years of highschool. When walking up to the door leading into his room, there was a panel to the right of the door where one could use either their student id to open the door. Once their id was tied to their holo they could use that as well.
Milo scanned his id and the door slid open automatically opening up to the room where he'd live for the next year.
