"Someone left it for you, Agatha," Sam said, handing her a letter.
That letter arrived from the hospital where her mother is being treated; she opened it, and bad news was revealed to her. Her mother will take her out of the hospital if she does not pay all of their bills within one week.
Because of the unexpected bad news, she crumpled the paper and wanted to yell at them, having a merciless heart. Her mother is dying of cancer, and they're evicting her because she hasn't paid her rent.
Agatha felt her leg weaken, so she sat on the couch and drank the cosmo on the table; she wanted to get drunk, but she needed to pay for her mother's treatment.
"Are you all right? You didn't appear to be in good health, "Sam inquired.
"Yes, I'm fine," she exhales deeply.
"You are free to tell me what is bothering you."
"I'm fine, Sam, you don't have to worry," she tried to smile at her.
"If you say so."
Her coworker immediately left her alone; she was aware that Sam had begun to notice her odd behavior, but she had to conceal it because she didn't want anyone to pity her situation. She has a flashback to what the young man said to her earlier, and she is holding herself back from seeing him and accepting his offer.
"I need to think about something other than accepting his offer," she murmured.
But she looked down at the crumpled paper on the floor. Agatha knew it was a bad idea to accept someone's offer, especially since she didn't know who he was, but she had no choice but to save her mother.
She rose from her seat on the couch and exited the club quickly; if she truly wanted to save her mother, she needed to forget about herself. She got into the first taxi she saw and told the driver to take her to Smith Corporation; she obtained his address so her manager knew who he was.
There is no going back; there is no turning back. She must face the consequences of her decision so that she will not regret it later, or else the life she is attempting to save will be lost.
'I'm doing this for you, mother, please understand...' she thought.
*****************
The young man was standing in front of his company's massive window. He was looking out the window at the many lights on the street.
He's expecting someone to arrive because he knows Agatha can't stand the latest letter from the hospital. He had the hospital send her a note so she wouldn't turn down his offer, and he chose her for some reason.
He looks up at the sky, where the moon is shining; it's been decades, and the moon goddess has remained silent until now. He never found his mate, and he's not looking for one now because he's content with himself. Alone.
But then there was a knock on the door, and he waited for her to come in; he knew it was her, and he wasn't surprised.
"I didn't expect you to arrive this early, Agatha," he said, surprised to see her.
"I came here to listen your offer once more."
"Excellent," "I guess you've already made up your mind?" he said as he turned around to face her.
"Yes, but first, I'd like to know what I'll get if I accept your offer."
He smirked and said, "You're astute. That appeals to me."
He began to approach her and came to a halt inches away from Agatha. He knew she could be his fake wife so his pack wouldn't lose trust in him and think he was too weak to handle them.
"You can have the luxurious life you've always desired, filled with money, jewelry, and everything else. I can provide you with what you require."
"How about my mother's treatment?" she asked, swallowing.
"I can pay all of that, even your father's debt," he said, putting his hands in his pockets.
He can sense that she is still second-guessing herself, but he can also sense her desperation. In his thoughts, he smiles as he recalls catching gorgeous prey.
"What about all of the treatment, medicine, and anything else?" She said it again.
"Probably."
"I'm in," she says after taking a deep breath.
"So, do you mind signing those papers?" He motioned to his table, where the papers were.
Agatha nodded before approaching the papers and signing them without reading them; she knew it was only about being his fake wife and nothing else. She sincerely hopes so.
After signing those papers, he grabs them and carefully reads them before tossing them in the trash bin and burning them. Agatha was perplexed by what he had done.
"How come you—"
"It would be safe," he said as he approached his chair and sat. "So, here are my rules, Agatha."
"What rules? You didn't tell me about that," she queried, puzzled.
"Don't I?"
"You're a moron, you son of a b*tch!"
He flashes a grin "Take care with your words. You're in my territory, and the ground rules for this territory are on the house."
"I have a lot of rules, so keep your eyes and ears open," he says. "You are not permitted to meet me during the full moon, you are not permitted to give me orders, and you are permitted to use this credit card," he says as he leans back in his chair.
He placed the credit card on his table, and she accepted it right away.
"Ask Jacob if you run out of money."
"Whose Jacob?"
"You'll see him soon," he promised.
"How about I becoming your wife?"
"You must be one."
Agatha had no idea what he meant, but his green eyes made her feel even more uneasy. She averted her gaze and pretended to be normal.
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"What exactly does a wife do? Playing with her husband's fire?"
Her pupils dilated "No way! I'm not going to give you my body!"
"It's too late because you've already done it. Next time, before signing a contract, learn how to read it."
"You've duped me! You said I only needed to be your wife, and now you want me to have s*x with you!"
"I didn't ask you to have sex with me, and I didn't bring up the subject of sex."
She becomes deafeningly silent as a result of the embarrassment she has caused herself. She's been overreacting because her mother is about to be discharged from the hospital where she is being treated.
"I'd like you to keep in mind that my rules are at stake in my properties. No one dares to give me orders, and no one dares to disobey what I have asked them to do, so keep that in mind."
"Noted," she rolled her eyes.
Agatha examines the credit card, as if it were the answer to her prayers. She intends to pay her mother's bill as well as her father's debt. Her life will never be the same again after that.
She once sold her body and soul, and it won't be difficult for her to sell them again to this arrogant guy if she has to be a slut more than she does. Then she'll do it for the sake of her family.
"Our wedding is tomorrow. I want you to be fresh and ready, so please leave my office right away."
"Wait a minute, what?"
"No more questions, please leave."
"Wait, at the very least tell me who you are. I don't want to name you anything."
"I apologize for not introducing myself to you."
"So, what's your name?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"My name is Zeus Gabriel Smith, and I am the owner and CEO of Smith Corporation," he says confidently.
When she heard his name, Agatha's eyes almost popped out; she knew who he was. He is one of the city's multi-billionaires, and he is not the easiest man to deal with because everyone refers to him as the merciless angel.
He mercilessly fired his employees, and he didn't even have the heart to easily forgive people, but Agatha knew there was a story behind that news, and she didn't have any plans knowing that story.
"So you're the wrathful angel?"
Zeus chuckled sarcastically "Angel? Who are you calling?"
"You? Not me, but everyone else called you that."
"Are you finished with your inquiries? If that's the case, you should get out of my sight."
Agatha didn't ask any more questions and left his office right away. She does not want to be chastised by this wrathful angel.
Zeus returned his gaze to the sky, this time to the bright moon as Agatha left his office. He sighed because he knew his father would freak out if he found out he married a stripper, let alone a girl who wasn't meant for him.
When his phone rang, he looked at it; Jacob's name flashed on the screen, but he didn't answer and hung up. He found a wife today so his pack wouldn't abandon him and think he's weak.
"Everything is just getting started," he murmured.
"I will show them how deserving I am."
Because of the anguish he's feeling inside, his eyes turn red. The wolf inside his body is triggered because they both didn't want to lose their pack or he would perish.
