Yes, it was a misunderstanding. Alan didn't know why Rihanna was talking shit, although she shouldn't have, at least with someone like Alan. He wasn't the type to accept disrespect from anyone, he had changed a lot after he woke up from a coma especially.
Anna could have stepped in when Rihanna was blaming Alan when Aaron was the one who started all this, she could have stepped in and cut off Aarons' hand or leg if it was someone else.
But she held it in.
Things would have gone out of hand if she acted as Alan's maid rather than an assistant and a fellow lover.
And Alan wouldn't also like it if Anna stepped in, she can support him from the sidelines.
