"I am Eutiquio Piel, an ordinary student from 3rd year's science class."
His eyes twinkled with indifference. A hand was waiting for a shake in front of Cresencia. And his smile was timid.
Cresencia, with an excellent memory, recalled where she heard his name. It was one of the school's top ten best-performing students in its ranking system. She shook his hand lightly, without noticing the changes in his eyes.
But she was alerted by his odd introduction.
"I am Cresencia Qin--"
Hearing her name, Eutiquio felt his cheeks burn. He pulled his hand away and bowed.
"I'm sorry-- sorry for offending you. I did not see the height of Mount Tai. I was wrong--" he stuttered as he apologized, which raised more doubts in Cresencia's heart.
"Why are you apologizing?"
"I shouldn't-- shouldn't--"
"If it's about formalities or identities, I care less about it, be comfortable with me-- I'm not a monster, nor does my background matter," she whispered.
His body was slightly shaking, and she could see it. Sweat poured on his forehead, and he stayed in a bowing position.
It's as if he's terrified of her background.
"Sit well, and stop making it a big deal-- tell me more about the secrets of the school."
"Oh, okay, would you like to learn more about the system's secrets or the secrets of the people who work there?"
"Both-- we have lots of time to spend. I believe we don't have classes in the afternoon unless you're busy today."
"I'm not busy-- in fact, our school scheduled a holiday, which lasts for three days in a row."
"Starting when?"
"Tomorrow, actually"
"Oh, good to hear. Can we exchange numbers?" Cresencia was not malicious, but Eutiquio minded it, and he was shy.
They talked more about the welfare of people connected to the school and separated ways when it was almost evening. Eutiquio said the school has a strict policy toward going in late and missing dinner. He was ashamed of having supper with her again for free, so he hurried home.
Cresencia sat on the rattan chair, inhaling the sweetness of the osmanthus tea. Miku was resting beside her. And the stars moved from their previous posts, which reminded her of how the world turns.
"Master, can you tell me about the book?"
"The book says they do exist here, supernatural entities who lost their ways to the old planet where everyone came from"
"Is that boy, Eutiquio, a supernatural being?"
"We'll find out soon, but he doesn't bother me that much. What I want to solve is the mysterious death within the campus."
"Master, please don't put yourself in danger, the father will be worried, and he might send another guardian here."
"Don't worry. I'm not too stupid to dig a grave for myself."
"Master, I've read a book from the library. It says women should be protected and cared for, and you shouldn't be too rough."
"Every woman you'll meet is bound to be unique, and I am different. The book cannot describe each personality without flaws, and no one can dictate how a person should live their life. Miku, worry not. As long as I have my memories, nothing will happen to us."
"I'm just scared about you-- facing the unknown powers of this world master-- because you're no longer an immortal cultivator."
"Fret not, I might have the body of a mortal being, but I haven't lost some of my abilities. Having a space and seeing the auras were enough to keep us alive."
"Master--" Miku hopped on her lap and rubbed his head against her hand
"Don't worry. No matter what happens, I will never leave you."
"Thank you, master."
Cresencia was thinking about digging clues within the library, but Miku's ability was not yet enough to see through walls.
"If I can grow stronger, we will be invisible," she whispered and placed the sleeping bunny on her bed.
Scattered notes were lying on her desk, and she finally had the motivation to touch them and review them. Elite 1 is not only the dream class of many. It is also the most challenging class. With how normal they can be as they interact, one must have significant capital to stay unmoved.
"Cie?" Someone kept knocking on her door
She got up and opened the door.
"Brother? Come in--"
"Hmm, I'm here to deliver a file to you. Since you've been a part of the military base, I am confident that you can already keep things simple. The details in this drive are crucial, so don't lose it. I aim to help you take caution against people who belong to the higher grounds."
"Thank you, brother."
"Your second brother will come in a while to deliver some snacks, the twins won't be home until next week, and our parents are out for a business trip. You should feel more at ease and tell us if anything is missing-- don't forget to sleep early today."
"Thank you, big brother, don't worry about me, I am doing well lately, and we don't have classes tomorrow."
"Hmm, I'll go ahead, okay."
Cresencia nodded as he left. The drive was on her hands now, just what she needed to start the mission.
She sat back and inserted the drive into her computer. There's no way she knew something about handling computers or programming, but Miku could learn it for her.
Miku is like a sponge who craves knowledge. To keep him alive, he must read endlessly. And to increase his powers, he must apply everything that he has learned.
More names were engraved in her mind when she saw the list, matching them with innocent and funny faces. These people have lengthy crimes and dangerous secrets behind their backs. As to why they're not in jail, she still doesn't know.
"Master, what's the problem?" Miku shifted beside her and stared at the screen. He awakened because of their special bond.
"Plans cannot go without money, and I'll be needing a large sum of it. What should we do?"
"Master-- should you start a company?"
"A company?"
"Yes, master, I've checked the stock market earlier, and we can join in to gather funds or sell medicinal herbs and gems from the space."
"But-- is that feasible? What will happen to the space if we take out materials? And since when did you have the ability to connect yourself with the internet?"
