Chapter 11 - Insanity II

While 'Insane' me was fighting Ivan, I sat on a couch while chatting with Oscar Two.

"So you're saying that our consciousness is both split and combined and we can use our mind as a form of communication similar to the S-Rank skill [Parallel Thinking]," I repeated what he said.

"Arent you the genius? You shouldn't be this dense. Anyway, yes but not exactly, it's different for us. While that skill is passive we on the other hand have to have our minds weakened or similar for us to be able to split. I don't really know myself, I will need more information and if it's successful it may result in us splitting our consciousness although it's still a small chance. Plus don't call me Oscar Two, I do have a name, you know?" I was quite happy knowing that there was a chance to split our consciousness, but I knew that if we did that I'd have a harder time.

"Okay, what's your name?" I asked my thoughts out loud, knowing that I wouldn't have any privacy with him around.

"I... Can't remember, but no worries let's just call me Blaze." He said with a calm face, accepting the fact that he had forgotten his own name, although I did agree that I should call him something different.

"Okay, 'Blaze, ' what's the plan now? I mean, for the future." I ask, accepting that he's the guy who knows the most about these things.

"One of two things may happen here, either nothing much and we win the tournament or something bad happens and we get our 'goal,' anyway let's hope that everything goes normal."

'But, wait, what did he mean by 'goal,' isn't my goal to get stronger to protect and survive?' As I ask myself that, I hear him sighing but not commenting.

"If either happens plans don't change and we do nothing. By nothing I mean we don't train. We need to be balanced, at least for now..." I was confused, but he told me that I'd understand soon enough, so I trusted him, as always.

Looking that there was nothing to chat about, I began wandering about, but soon after, I got bored.

"So? What do we do here?" As I asked that, he laughed at me.

"Did you forget? This is our mind, we can do anything. Plus we can still access the system and even look out and see what 'Mr. Insanity' is doing." I start thinking about what to do, but before I conclude, he tells me, "My god, just open the skill [Internet Backup] and play games. How dumb can you be you literally have the whole internet." I wanted to retort, but he already had a book in his hands, and it felt that if I disturbed him, I'd get beaten. I also learned that he probably doesn't read my thoughts willingly and my thoughts are annoying him.

I start playing something called flash games and enjoy them, but after what seems 2 Hours, I check the time and notice only 10 minutes have passed, but before I can ask, Blaze had already started explaining.

"I have a couple of theories about that. One is that this is caused by our stats, or it's the corruption but it's also unlikely. Its a good thing actually, instead of gaming or reading we should start training." I was confused. Didn't he say that we shouldn't train? So why was he saying we should train now?

"I know what I said, but it should be fine here, we arent physically training we are just getting combat experience." I still didn't understand why he changed his mind, but it seemed that he had an idea.

He closed his eyes, and things started to appear in the distance. It was a simple shooting range and arena. He grabbed my shoulder as he opened his eyes, and we teleported there. I got pretty dizzy from teleporting, but he didn't care as he threw a gun straight at my face. 'I'll one day have my revenge'

"Okay listen up, you're going to shoot at me and I'm going to be dodging the bullets. The thing you should learn from this experience is to predict where i am going then shoot." He said, smiling, and that smile looked perfectly innocent, or so it seemed.

As the training started, I tried to predict his steps, but I soon noticed that he was moving unpredictably and that I couldn't hit him properly. Finally, after missing all my shots and fumbling with my ammo trying to reload, I got punched in the face. At that moment, i realized that that smile wasn't innocent but was one of a devil.

"AGAIN!" He shouted, which made me realize that my torture had just begun. Even though this was my mind space and I couldn't feel pain, every time he punched me I got a massive headache.

After an hour of repeatedly getting punched, I finally managed to shoot him once and started celebrating.

"Just because you hit me once doesn't mean that training is over." As he finished that, he started coming at me faster and more unpredictably, but i just focused and tried to hit him. Finally, after another what felt forever, I started to be able to hit him consistently.

"Damn, I thought it would take longer. You truly are a genius." As he praised me, I felt proud of myself. 'Hehehe... a genius... hehehe.' and i got lost in thought about me being a genius.

"It's good that you're happy now for the second part of training." as he said that I felt my color drain from my face and I began screaming and begging him to stop this madness, but he didn't listen. He just summoned a sword and threw it at me, I didn't even have time to react but somehow the sword didn't hit me and instead just floated in front of my face.

"The second part of training is quite simple you will try to kill 5 wolfs and I know that fighting against each other would be simpler but this is better for you who already knows how to fight one against one. What I'm saying is that you should learn how to fight multiple opponents. Anyway, good luck because it will hurt" I got out my sword and gun and got mentally prepared and for the next unknown time I fought wolves, every time I defeated the wave the number increased until I couldn't handle it anymore.

Laying down on the ground Blaze came to me and gave me a break.

"Okay, wanna know why we trained? Or would you rather guess?" I decided to guess as to why, which surprised Blaze.

"I presume to teach me how to combat certain situations. Am i right?" I guessed, which only made him slightly smile at me.

"You're only half correct. While yes it was to teach you how to fight it was also to train you to be calm and collected when fighting, you also need to know the basics before you can do more advanced things. Because I checked and the reason why the combat skill didn't increase much, it was because you added things that you don't understand and added a lot of advanced things while yes, you did learn a couple of advanced things, you didn't learn most of them and wasted the skill" The things he said made sense somewhat, I actually assumed that some of the things he said were lies, and he just wanted to torture me.

"Did i hear that right? You want more training?" He said that seemingly more evil than the devil

"There's more?!?!" I both shouted and asked, not knowing if he was serious or not.

"Thankfully for you, no. But we do have a problem 'Mr. Insanity' has possibly offended a big shot. We should try to get out as soon as possible, but for that to happen we need to make sure that we are knocked out." As soon as he said something terrible had happened, I checked and realizing the situation, I got worried.

"You don't have to worry although he's insane, he's not dumb. (Unlike you) As you see here he's leaving the arena stealthily." Although he was leaving, it seemed that he didn't care about the fight between the referee and the middle-aged man. Suprise, Suprise. He just went back to the waiting room, where all the participants looked at him with awe.

"Interesting," Blaze mumbled next to me.
