Huh? Well, that's odd. That has never happened before, has it? Eh, it probably is a language that has not been used for years, thus not having enough written text for it to be of use. Anyways, that is not important. Tying the bag of coins up with a thin string of Alter Spores, I slung it over my blood-soaked back.
With this, I should be able to convince the guards, who, by the account of what I think they would act like, would most likely be dicks and not let me in even if I was near death.
However, never underestimate human greed. Of course, it is not like I do not have a backup plan, which is simply to kill them and blame it on a monster, which would be confirmed by my appearance. A more violent tactic, and one I do not want to use, but is an option.
Greg also had tons of food, knives, and other paraphernalia. None of it was any use to me, though. Trudging out of his tent and heading the biggest, and simplest tent, which belonged to Beth. Bending down and taking a look around, it appeared that she was a neat freak. Nothing was out of place, and every piece of clothing was folded neatly.
Ah, there is some more money to use. Guess I could just hide it in my body. Tossing the small bag of coins into my sternum, I turned tail and left the tent as well. Looking directly to where I was fighting Beth, I thought of how disappointing it was. However, when I looked down, I found something that had originally interested me. Beth's sword!
Strolling over to the dirt-covered sword, I saw that it had lost its red luster, looking like any normal broadsword. So, it seems that the mysterious stone only made a temporary coating on Mana, or whatever she coated it with. Eh, I could still use this design, as I have not seen something of this size, or dechorionated, in all the time I have been here.
The blade itself was about four feet long, and one foot wide. Whoever Beth was, she must have been extremely strong, at least for a human. Bending down and picking it up with ease, I did a few practice swings, testing its balance. Surprisingly, it was the most balanced sword I have ever felt, which was odd for its size.
Dissolving my hand and covering every inch of this masterpiece of weaponry, it took even less time to do so before I evolved. It seems that even though I decided on a certain type of evolution that did not specifically help the speed, I still get sort of a buff because I chose the Excel Spore as my first evolution.
Retracting my spores, I layered one of my hands with tons and tons of Draconic Spores, wrapped it around the blade of the sword, and shattered it. Although I did not have to do such a thing, I just felt that it would add to the cool factor, and also get me new strength, which I immediately felt after I woke up.
Shaking my hand a bit, dislodging the shards of the sword, I looked around for Beth's body, which was around a couple of meters away. Jogging over to her, I picked her up and jumped onto one of the many trees that surrounded the camp. Using one hand to launch myself to the tippy top of the tree, I jumped off the highest branch, managing not to break it.
As I reached the peak of potential energy, I turned towards the sharp top of the tree and threw Beth like a baseball, hearing a sickening splat as her abdomen was completely ripped open, wood and guts spraying everywhere. When the destruction ended, all I could see was the body of Beth and a massive spike of wood emerging from her stomach.
"Well, that is one way to hide the body, heh," I said to myself, finding it funny how easy it was to hide her body. With this info, I did the same for the others. For Greg, I put him right on top of Beth, as they seemed romantically inclined. As for Foster, I just went to some random tree and squashed him into a high branch, like putting chicken on a skewer. Speaking of blood, I think it is now time to test out my plan.
"Well, I have gleaned everything I could from this encounter, so now it is time to conjure up a story. First, I should find the entrance to the kingdom before I hurt myself more." I said, looking over my minor wounds, which the blood flow seemed to have slowed down. Hopping onto a tree, I continued this type of travel until I could see some far-away objects that penetrated the green foliage.
Getting a closer look, I could see that it, indeed large, black spires, which were encircled by a giant ball of beige bricks. Compared to the village of Beastkin, it was like comparing a mansion to a dollhouse. Well, that is to be expected of a whole ass kingdom, especially with humans, who were one of the most advanced species, at least, from what I have seen.
Doing one last kick with my legs, I launched myself off the tree and fell straight to the ground, like an anchor from a boat. Another good ability I learned from evolution, was that I was able to manipulate my weight. Anyways, sinking to my shins in the ground from the impact, I happened to land right next to the wall, which was about ten times the size of me, which I was, now that I was in a human guise, about five foot eleven.
"Well, shit. Couldn't I just have been closer to the entrance, please? Now I have to walk around this. Just perfect." I mumbled to myself, not knowing why I am talking to myself. Maybe I was just so used to being by myself, and then meeting other creatures to talk to, that I still crave a semblance of social interaction. Eh, that is just speculation.
