Chapter 27 - Chapter XXVI

"Residents of Vinlox, the year anniversary of the Posterity Unnerve event has gone live!" an announcer shouts on the radio. "Bring your friends, family, and extended relatives; our saviors will come back today to celebrate this event with us!"

Nikuyoku senses a buzz from her phone, noticing that Arino and the others have to return to Vinlox for this event. She peeps into everyone's rooms to check if they are awake and sees all of them sleeping. As she goes into Arino's room, he flings the door open. He rubs his eyes, ignoring the shock of Nikuyoku and goes outside. Arino goes to his early morning workout, ignoring everyone's gazes. Yuri and Tara wake up soon after, confused hearing the huffs and grunts of Arino working out.

Nikuyoku walks slowly towards Arino, not trying to stop him during his workout. Arino turns around and sees her, deciding to take a break from his workout. They both sit down on the bench as Arino chugs on a 2 liter canister of water.

Arino: "So, what's up?"

Nikuyoku: "Vinlox is having an event which you and your friends should show up for. They said that you guys are the saviors of Vinlox y'know."

Arino: "Aye, I don't mind going. Hopefully the rest of them don't mind going either."

Nikuyoku: "This is your time to relax, no one is coming to come capture you or something."

Arino: "I know a lot of people are after me, after all I'm technically not supposed to be in the realm of Earth."

Nikuyoku sighs, cursing how blind he is to his own blessings. A flesh consumed by guilt and consequences will always have trouble finding their own blessings even if it's in plain sight. When one spends too much time helping everyone else, they often forget that within they need the most help. As she gazes at Arino, she sees just that. A flesh tortured by the calamities of his own experiences. As she gets up, she wonders who could've made this kind soul spite himself so much. Before she can even leave, she looks back to see an unknown figure making Arino look like Childs play.

Figure: "You haven't gotten much stronger y'know?"

Arino: "Can you not try and kill me any chance you get?"

Figure: "No, I find this fun. Making you suffer is my favorite pass times."

Arino: "Leave me alone, You already threw me off a bridge back in Purgatory. Isn't that enough?"

Figure: "You must break, shatter like the fragile packaged soul you are."

Arino: "Break? You did that shit a long time ago. Can't you already see?"

Nikuyoku runs to the scene in a hurry. The figure's face installs a rage in her, knowing that the face that made her son feel the way he does now. Her eyes glow a wrathful amethyst as essence manifests in her hands.

Nikuyoku: "So Arino, why must you torture your past self?"

Future Arino: "This is the fate he has, get tortured until he has to torture others. This is the fate of the demon race, Reina."

Nikuyoku: "My father has other plans for him. He won't stand for this fate any longer."

The Most High: "Couldn't have said it better myself."

Future Arino looks in shock as I appear in front of him. I may leave these humans alone, but this is too much even for my standards.

Future Arino: "So, are you going to send me back to my timeline? Back to that shithole, huh? David Debrazzo?"

David: "Listen listen, just because my other arm can't handle himself doesn't mean I can't."

Future Arino: "So why are you here? Why show yourself now?"

David: "My fate for Arino is different from what that freak had for you. I should've just killed him a long time ago. I guess I can't kill off feelings of full evil after all."

Future Arino: "You want to protect the weak? What kind of soft ass hierarchy is this?"

David: "Aye, seems like you prefer the hierarchy of the future timeline don't you?"

Future Arino grits his teeth. Hitting shit where it hurts is one of my infinite skills y'know. The shithead hates that timeline and is envious that this Arino got another chance. Did I ever close Twilight though? I need to re seal it so no one else can invade this timeline like he has. I don't think even that will keep him away in his own timeline.

David: "Listen, you might have been able to manifest into his head, but there's no one scarier than someone who'll hate themselves so much to the point of spiting themselves."

Future Arino: "Bullshit, you can't just spew nonsense like that. It's laughable."

David: "You'll see soon enough, you haven't seen what humans will do just to spite one another."

Future Arino: "Spite? I couldn't do that even with spite. What is he going to do, huh? He is a weak little shit who falls to my torment so easily."

David: "Alright, let me show you a glimpse of how spiteful a mere human can be."

A little finger is all I need. This single fingerful f essence holds the spite of 100 humans. Their inner critic tormenting them, reinforcing that torment in their minds, and also training to shut it up. Let's see how he reacts to the essence of the spiteful timeline. As I place my finger over his head, the agony I instantly felt was great. Hey, maybe I do like to see people suffer.

Future Arino screams; hearing the constant torment of others all at once may have been a bit much for him to control. He then wakes up in a hellish realm, his own consciousness. He looks around and finds himself in the middle of a void, surrounded by echoes of his past wrongs and misdeeds. As he looks to the nearby throne, he sees the present Arino awaiting his arrival. It is here, in the depths of his mind, where he must confront his own internal struggles and make the right choices. Instead of confront him with peace, he turns to anger. Spouting nonsense about how he ruined his life. If it wasn't for him, he could've had a better life and all that other nonsense.

Present Arino: "I ruined your life? Look at yourself and say that entire monologue again."

Future Arino couldn't say a word as his decapitated head falls to the floor.
