Chapter 4 - Marriage?

"I've selected a bride for you," his mother apprised and he let out a scoff.

Marriage?

No way was he going to marry. He has seen many girls in his life, even his mother introduced some to him, some tall, some short, some average and even some the prettiest but his heart didn't stuck at any. His heart was already captured, only she had the ability to pull it strings. Not even once, he felt his heart beating wild whenever he met any of those girls but when he met her, for the first time, it felt like his chest would explode with that foreign feeling.

She was she. And he knew though she can't be his wife but he wanted someone like her. And fate hasn't yet shown someone like her in his life. But still he would wait for a girl like her. Though her place would be secured in his heart for ever.

"Why Moosa? Why you don't want to marry?" his mother asked, worriedly. "I've shown you millions of girls but still you can't find your match?"

"I don't want to talk about it. I'll marry when I want. End of conversation." he told his motherk new the conversation is over but still she tried.

"Son," she called out again.

"Mother stop," he said, his eyes a glare and she didn't insist much. She knew how her son was.

"Bhai you know Irtaza bhai's wedding is coming!" Alizeh excalimed with joy.

"How do you know?"

"Dua told me. Aren't we going?"

"Yeah we are,"

"She invited me to come a week prior to the wedding. She says, she needs help,"

"Fine. You and mother go before a week to wedding. I think its two weeks away,,"

"Yes and I'm excited already! Yay!" she sqeauled with joy that made him chuckle.

"Ah my innocent Alizeh," he muttered.

"My daughter is so innocent," her mother said after seeing Alizeh's reaction and she smiled back at her.

"And brother you look handsome today," she told.

"Hmn. I see. What do you want?" he asked quirking his brows up and she laughed.

"How do you know it brother?!"

"You don't know, its my job to read people. Now tell me what do you want?"

Her smile slightly fall down and she nervously looked up at him.

"Permission," she uttered.

"For?"

"I need to go out today with my... friends,"

"Okay but get back before 11,"

"Brother, make it till 1 please."

"What?" he frowned.

"We all friends have planned it. I'll be late, there's a party at my friend's. Please brother. Allow me till 1," She explained.

"No," he just said.

"Moosa, she'll be back before 1. I vouch that. Its not like that my daughter is involved in boys and she is asking permission fo a date. Its just a get together." his mother interferred.

"She better be that way. And come back before 12. Not a minute up. Your guards will be with you," he told and got up to leave the room.

"Please no guards," Alizeh requested and he looked down at the floor and then turned, looking up at her, his lashes narrowed and she gulped.

"Guards would do," she mumbled, seeing the deadly look in his eyes.

"And remember no boys,"

"You don't need to tell this to my daughter," his mother told him and he just gave a nod.

They both knew, he hasn't allowed Alizeh to have any boyfriend. His warning was just so plain and straight, 'if you don't want me to be a killer of an innocent soul you better don't keep a boyfriend,'

"I know my daughter is best. Not like other girls. She knows how to keep up the dignity of family. My daughter is unique," his mother said proudly to Alizeh who just gave a sheepish smile to her.

Upon reaching his room, he took a shower and then went to built in office. He had a library there as he selected one of the philosophy books which he was reading the other day and continued.

It was odd because people around him say its weird a mafia don, reading philosophy, history and poetry books. He just scoffed at those thoughts and continued reading, according to him books make one wiser.

Life is both sad and solemn. We are led into a wonderful world, we meet one another here, greet each other - and wander together for a brief moment. Then we lose each other and disappear as suddenly and unreasonably as we arrived.

As soon as he went through those lines, he felt it, deep within his beating organ. These lines just defined his life. That sudden lost was not letting him live this sad and solemn life.

She took a part of his soul with her.

As the events of days were making him reminisice her more and more, he closed the book and stood up walking to the safe enclosed in a small cabin which needed a key to be accessed. He opened the lock, coming across the safe and entered the code.

1508

It was the last day when he met her. The day he lost her. Suddenly. Unreasonably.

His eyes settled on the lily shaped clip upon opening the safe. He would fetch it whenever her thoughts would succumb his mind.

It was adorning her hair that day. He had saved it, taking it off her golden brown hair while she laid dead in his arms and then he closed his eyes too, laying his head on her chest. It was all blank after that.

"Nur. Nur-e-man" he whispered to himself before kissing the clip and placing it back in the safe.

(Nur. My light)

Then his eyes fell on the papers. He took them out and gave a read. These were the names of members of his cabinet and their details.

Total of 20 members were included in his cabinet.

The mafia worked in a very systematic way. And these 20 members were assigned on different designation within the mafia. Just like a governor, chief minister, secretary to prime minister etc etc.

They have their own law and order and infrastruture of the government. And interesting fact was that, these 20 members were unknown. To some people they were just like a myth and people considered them an non existent and imaginary. Because no one knew who the were, where they are, what's their job. Like one of the members would be sitting beside someone and he would never know. Even the members themeselves didn't know that who else's a part of cabinet. If two members would be sitting beside each other, then they would never know that they both are part of the same cabinet.

That's how it worked. It was just the boss who knew. No one else.

These 20 members were like the pillars who stood his empire. They were like most loyal dogs to him who would sacrifice their everything for him as they were working under a blood oath. And they all knew, their boss don't take betrayal well. And one reason for they were kept unknown even to each other was that if any one of these would rebel, he'd never be able to reach out to others to stregnthen the commotion against the boss. That was why he was considered as the mafia boss.

He placed the papers back in the safe and locked it. Then went to his room to sleep, tomorrow was a big day, he wanted to clear the coast for a mission.

He closed his amber eyes when once again in a blurred fashion, her innocent brown eyes would stare into his. And then he was drifted into a deep slumber.

Unaware what fate would be holding for him.
