As Ether and Duke Clarence strolled along the walkway, she kept her arms neatly folded in front of her chest and cast a subtle smirk in his direction. The Duke had expressed an interest in learning more about her late parents, the Viscount and Viscountess, and she was more than delighted to comply with his request.
She started by saying, "My father, the Viscount, was a good and smart man." "He had a way of making everyone, regardless of who they were or where they stood in life, feel like they were heard and cherished. He led his people in a way that was just and fair, and as a result, they respected and loved him."
The image of Ether's father flashed before the Duke's eyes, and he was able to decipher the genuine admiration and affection that was contained within her look.
