Chereads / Martyr The Devourer Of Wands / Chapter 45 - Guzzler

Chapter 45 - Guzzler

Unlike Nolamine, Son-join had met Ara at the bus stop to say his goodbyes. She had gone there even though they were leaving early that morning. Seeing his mother there made her not express herself as much as she wanted to.

"Can you do something for me?"

She asked Son-join as they were about to leave.

"Yeah, anything."

"Can you give Nolamine a super clap for me?"

She said with a determined face.

Son-join remembered the first time he had clapped his friend and the revenge that followed. He gulped a big lump of saliva after his thought, but looking at Ara's face, who was determined to get revenge for her friend on a boy who just left her without saying anything to her after getting her hopes up, he folded.

"The moment I see him, the hand of Buddha shall accidentally fall upon his cheeks."

He said, making Ara laughed, he smiled. They said their goodbyes and she watched as the bus pulled away not knowing when she was going to see him again.

'How foolish young love is.'

Mi-sun thought as she did not want to think about all the homes that she had racked.

They said their goodbyes to his mother as they went into different planes. Again, Mi-sun was amazed at how his mother was handling the situation.

They got to the village after culture shock almost fried Son-join's brain. Unlike when Nolamine came to the village, he was greeted by just a handful of people, but all the disciples were present.

He slapped himself so hard that his cheeks went red.

'Ara, I have been bewitched!!!!'

He screamed in his head after seeing Nala and Analka.

'Be gone, angels of temptation, for I am already taken. Ara!!, I shall win this battle!!"

He thought as he saw his new master. He could not figure out how Nolamine could leave such a sandpit of goddesses.

As Son-join was fighting his teenage hormones, his best friend and who he conceded his brother was still around. Days had passed when he was pulled into the dark pool of cursed waters and he only got to the bottom after a week had passed.

Time was different in that place as he only felt like he had been in there for several hours.

This time, the two eyes that were a distance apart from each other were already looking at him as he reached the bottom. The small tree of light and its fruit were still there and providing what light it could.

"The Moon Tear. The third to ever wield it and the first to have the keys to open the gates of hell. You are already following in the footsteps of the one who defeated me."

Aapep said.

Nolamine smiled but still did not know how to feel about receiving such a gift.

"I see you think that you do not deserve it."

Aapep said.

"I just can't understand why they would gift me such a powerful thing."

"Mmm, I see that you still fail to understand something."

Aapep said as his voice grew irritated.

"You are a Guzzler. Your bloodline is responsible for putting me here. This land belongs to them but I have given them the means to survive and rule over this land for centuries. Through all those years, no one has challenged them for this land."

Nolamine did not know where he was going with his talk.

"They have never been able to thank those who put me here and protected them. That, as powerful as it is, is still a small part of their thanks. I am sure that if you wanted to, you could take anyone you wanted there as your wife."

Nolamine almost choked from the cursed water after hearing such words. Aapep laughed a little and for the first time, Nolamine could see his teeth through the darkness.

His laughter turned to fear as he saw teeth as big and tall as himself for just a few seconds. It was enough to make his mind spin as he thought about how large Aapep was and who could beat such a creature.

"Now, on to more important matters."

Aapep said as Nolamine's mind stopped racing.

"The only reason you are still alive is because of your mother's sacrifice."

He said and brought Nolamine's train of thought back.

"Her eyes hold back the eyes you were born with and thus their power and side effects."

"Side effects?"

Nolamine asked.

"I am sure that there are times that you feel so hungry that all you want to do is eat. That is one of the side effects. I am sure that in your case it happens after a fight when the hold of your mother's eyes over your own weakens because of the emotions you go through as you fight."

Nolamine could recall all of what he was saying as it happened many times during and after his fights.

"The other side effect is uncontrolled rage. Some say it is a side effect and some say it is a blessing. It is up to you to think of it as you like, as many Guzzlers used this ability to its full advantage. The Berserker form, they called it. You get more powerful the more you fight and as your emotions flare. But, you eat through your energy reserves faster."

Nolamine loved that. He played games and would always choose those who had such an ability for some reason.

"So, If your mother did not sacrifice herself, you would have died because of these two side effects."

Nolamine understood and held his mother's dagger as he thought about her.

"Guzzler, you guzzle everything until there is none. The surname derived from the word 'Devourer'."

"Wow!"

He had nothing else to say. He was just amazed at how cool his surname was.

"There is a tree named after your bloodline. The Guzzler Tree. It bears a fruit every 18 years. Anyone's stomach who eats it will turn into deep hunger and will eat anything they come across, eventually being killed by those around them as they would possess a bottomless stomach as they eat everything in sight."

Aapep said.

"Why would such a tree be named after us?"

Nolamine asked.

"It is the only fruit that is natural and known to help with your eye's side effects without needing drastic measures. This was what they could not get for you as your parents were on the ran."

Something brown floated from Aapep to Nolamine. It was made of beast's hide and was soft to the touch.

"That is a map of where you will find such a tree, as I am sure the one that was grown at your estate had died due to old age. With how hidden this one is, I am sure that it bears many fruits as they do not spoil until they are picked from the tree and eaten by beasts or humans, only spoiling once picked."

Nolamine looked at the map but could not make sense of it.

"This must be the first thing you do when you get there. Unlike your past relatives in which it would help with their eye's side effects when you eat it, it will help you attune with your two powers."

Nolamine was confused.

"With your mother's eyes not needing to keep your natural eyes at bay anymore, you will be able to use them to their fullest and with you in control of your own eyes, you will be able to use those to the fullest, then you can start cultivating for both eyes."

It was just too good to be true. Aapep could feel the joy in his mind.

"Yes, you shall be the first one who could potentially master the powers of two Nobles."

Aapep said, and made Nolamine smile.

"Now, it is time for you to become the second to ever wield the wand that we are about to make. Nolamine, It is time, it is time to make..... The Devourer Of Wands."
