“I don’t understand. Aren’t you mad at me?” Sybil was brave enough to ask only because she was so confused and wanted answers herself.
“Actually, I am mad,” Andrius said with a short laugh. “I’m mad that you didn’t trust me enough to tell me.” Then, his voice became more calculated when he spoke, “Do you honestly think that I would send you away or punish you after you saved my life? And twice, at that? Do you think so lowly of me?”
A shocked sound came from Sybil’s throat and she felt fresh tears prick at her eyes. Her face reddened and she looked down in shame.
Deep down, Sybil knew Andrius would have never done those things to her. She thought the world of him, and knew he felt the same about her. She knew that he was a good person who wouldn’t abandon her as she feared.
“I’m sorry,” Sybil whispered. She didn’t know what else to say.
