Sybil was too taken aback to even attempt to hide the shock from her face. She opened her mouth to respond, but even words were failing her.
“I— I’m sorry?” Sybil finally choked out.
None of the women answered. Instead, most of them laughed while some simply shook their heads and rolled their eyes. Sybil’s cheeks flushed and she became immediately flustered.
At first, she was worried that she might have offended them in some way by not properly greeting them or waiting for Andrius to join her before she went over, but it didn’t take her long to realize that the women were being mean on purpose.
“You heard me. Don’t worry, I’m sure he will become bored with you soon enough. After all, look at you! You clearly don’t belong here. Not even an expensive dress and shoes could hide the simple girl beneath it,” the same woman shamelessly said.
