Those words echoed in everyone's ears. Even Valerie was surprised to hear that from Kai. Her gaze fell on Irene's, who was now staring at her with a furrowed brow. She frowned upon hearing Kai's announcement.
Mate?
Valerie did not seem to know what it meant, but it could somehow relate her with Kai being her husband? She vaguely recalled a particular conversation they had when they first met, and her hand found the wrist that bore the mark, rubbing it mindlessly.
Meanwhile, the crowd was in disbelief. They looked at each other and murmured, "What is going on?" asked one of the male beastman present in the crowd. "Kai is willing to have a human as his mate?"
