Chereads / Running From The Wind / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The closing bell sang freedom for Pandora as her buttocks which were almost numb from being glued to her seat desperately needed some sort of blood supply. A curvy smile curved on her lips when the image of Braxton's face in the morning flashed on her random thoughts. She was a bit disappointed she couldn't keep up her act because of Braxton's pitiful expression. He never failed to prove his love for her so much that in the non-existence of their being betrothed, she would still fall for him.

So she packed her bag and also his and waited till he was back from his visit to the principal's office. She had taken her seat at the last step of the nearest staircase still waiting for his return which was taking too long.

" Sorry for keeping you waiting. He asked me to run a few errands before I left," he explained, pouting his lips.

" For that, you owe me some ice cream. Come on let's go," she replied bluntly, pulling him to the ice cream kiosk.

" Ma'am, one chocolate and one strawberry for the lady," he ordered confidently, placing a dollar note on the counter while adjusting his bag strap.

They were the last pair of students remaining. Pandora's ride was parked in the driveway but she insisted on prolonging her stay till Braxton's driver arrived. They sat on the playground swing and licked on the snack while she couldn't stop teasing him.

The site for the playground looked to be expertly chosen due to how the sunset and rise could be viewed from there. As the sun was starting to part ways with the earth's sky with only a crimson shadow lingering, they laughed and fooled around with the swing and the other fun equipment.

" You should've seen your face. A bug almost flew in your mouth," she mocked, starting another fit of laughter.

Braxton just sat there defenseless and all he could say was, " You're lucky I love you, if not you would have seen the back of my palm," he hissed and then faced the direction of the gate awaiting his driver.

" Look at this dumbhead, you're lucky I love you too or you would have seen my darkest side," she teased, poking his ribs.

That phrase alone was enough to have Braxton blushing wildly. They had on several occasions exchanged the word, no doubt, but to him, it sounded more refurbished and rekindled whenever they came from her lips.

He spun to face her with his eyes glinting with desire, his lips thirsty for love and his hands slid up smoothly to cup her face. Truth be told throughout their transition from being friends to betrothed lovers, they had never for once shared a real kiss. She had given him a few pecks, but he wasn't ready to rush her till they were mature enough. However, the longer his palm caressed her soft cheeks coupled with the manner in which his whole body was running riot at that time, he was too weak to fight his emotions, talk less of thinking.

Since he was deliberating too long, Pandora made her move and plunged her lips into his without warning. As she childishly pecked his lower lip, that chocolate taste made her disengage and let out a sly chuckle.

" What's wrong? Did I do it wrongly?" He looked into her eyes searching to find any hint of disappointment. Just when he felt their first kiss was going smoothly, here she was grinning.

" Why did I have to fall in love with a crazy girl?" He muttered under his breath.

" I heard your murmuring dumbass! Your lips taste like chocolate," she said, still chuckling.

" And yours tastes like wine made out of the finest vine and a bit of strawberry ice cream..." he trailed off, joining in Pandora's laughter.

Just as another tense sensual air was about to brew between them, a car honked reminding them of the main reason for their little picnic. They hugged each other goodbyes and zoomed off in their different cars.
