The audience cheered and jubilated with clapping as the principal took to the stage. The school auditorium was flooded to the brim by screaming students, wealthy parents, who just leaned back in their seats, and school staff attending to special guests whose rumors held were the talent hunters and chief sponsor. Everyone was involved in the frenzy even reporters could be seen looking for perfect angles to capture the creme de la creme.
As the principal stood up, he adjusted his suit and made his way to the podium clutching onto a piece of paper and a portable microphone attached to his ear. He slightly cleared his throat and began, " Welcome Parents and students of Campden Elementary School. It's an honor to have you'll here, albeit with your busy schedules. The show is about to kick start, just relax and let these beautiful kids entertain you."
The crowd cheered vigorously as he stepped down leaving the stage for Miss Jane who cat-walked majestically waving at the crowd. Her smile was at its fullest, her chin curved into an enticing dimple. The way she handled herself with confidence oozing out of her every step was worth the thunderous applause.
"
" These kids here tonight have quite a performance lined up for you to admire. Dear judges, you may see them as just kids, but I can assure you, every child that comes on this stage possesses an exquisite and exclusive talent so try as much as possible to appreciate their effort at keeping you entertained," she introduced with courtesy and went backstage.
Waiting to be called upon were the contestants whose nerves were are twitching at the mere thought of having to plow through the fishing eyes of modeling agents who wanted nothing less than to be impressed.
The first walked out high and mighty swaying her legs as far as her stiletto heels could carry. Her walk to the crowd was tact but by the time she journeyed back, she had lost that composure. She hurriedly scuttled down the stage.
The second, third, fourth, and fifth girls came wildly prepared and ready to deliver. They slew through the stage fiercely and with such youthful vigor and retained that same energy on the way back. The judges could be seen conversing in hush tones and taking down a few notes meaning the stakes had just been raised and anyone coming out from behind that red curtain had to put up her A-Game if the judges were to reconsider the stakes.
The sixth girl decided to switch up her act a bit by adding dancing to her performance. As soon as she stepped out she started dancing, hitting dance moves like the popular pop legend–Micheal Jackson, and that had the audience thrilled. Her performance spilled contagious humor among the crowd as she got their eyes glued to the stage till she moonwalked out of their sight. This cracked up the audience because even though it didn't apply to the context, they were entertained alright.
Meanwhile, Pandora and Coraline sat and watched in a fret. Coraline was scared and frighteningly nervous as this was her first time participating in this kind of show and it even grew worse as they were the last two scheduled to showcase before the results were announced. Abel was trying fruitlessly to calm Coraline down while Pandora was inwardly wishing it was Braxton she was leaning on instead of Ethan as the latter laid her head on his shoulder. She however dismissed the thought immediately and came up with a plan while the seventh person took the stage.
" Since the sixth person's person's performance wasn't nullified by the judges, I might as well do this our way," she suddenly spoke as her eyes lit up like a deer in headlights.
" How do you suppose we do that?" Abel questioned.
" Well, since Coraline is feeling down, we might as well walk the road together," she ranted without pausing for air.
"There is some sense in that if you ask me. I mean you two are going to win, I believe in you," Ethan concurred, causing Pandora to face him sharply.
" Did I hear you say some? There is more sense in that than you can imagine," she said rolling her eyes.
" Enough bickering! Let's go already," Coraline stood up adjusting her dress and adding finishing touches to her already decorated face.
Pandora gave Ethan the " Just watch" look and after adjusting herself with the help of an attendant, joined hands with Coraline and stepped out.
