Chapter 1
The Beginning of the End
Time: ERROR/%
"So, this is the end." I reached up to the rope, looking upon the sea of people. "I never knew I would be killed publicly, but I guess this is what I get." I let the tear fall from my eyes down to my chin, as I smiled upon the crowd. "Just let her know I still love her. Please." I put my head on the rope. My smile wavered, and everything went black.
"Wake up."
I opened my eyes to see a white wolf. Her paws were fading into the black abyss around me, so was her tail. I looked at myself. I'm also a wolf. My fur is colored bright red, and my paws and tail are also fading into the black. The only light came from two seemingly glowing orbs in the big empty space, where I can see a room. The room is big and white, there are curtains to the left and a door to the right. There's also a guitar in the corner and a mirror near the door, with a closet ahead of us.
Time: Morning, Monday
"Where am I?" I asked the mysterious white wolf.
"You're in the mind of the human you've been assigned. The name of this human is Olivia Smith," remarked the mysterious white wolf.
"Why?" I wondered cautiously, "Why am I here, what's going on?" She looked me in the eyes with her beautiful sky blue eyes.
"I know, this is a lot to take in. but, when you died. you were transferred to a human's brain. That means there isn't enough room in the afterlife for you to stay." she advised. I looked over to the eyes, my human seems to have gotten out of bed and is changing.
"There isn't a window, is there?" I worried. My eyes widened as I realized that everything I worry about is being said out loud. The human stopped what she was doing and looked around for a window. "Can she hear me?" I whispered, furrowing my non-existent brows.
"There aren't any windows open to the public, and yes. She can hear you." said the white wolf. We sat in silence for the rest of the time.
She walked over to the kitchen and grabbed some bread from the bread bag, then she grabbed the butter and a butter knife. I looked over to the bread bag, "So, what am I supposed to do?" I asked the white wolf. She was looking at the eyes as well, "You are supposed to keep our human safe from dangers. The things she can hear from you currently are panic, fear, anxiety, rage, and other negative thoughts." she explained. "She can only hear positive things from me, so she'll probably listen to me the most." She sat there looking at the eyes, the perfect posture. I quickly got self-conscious looking at her perfect posture, and fixed my own. It got quiet quickly.
I watched as my human walked out the door with her backpack and keys.
"So, why did I only come to her now? Shouldn't she have anxiety and stuff at birth?" I asked curiously to the white wolf. I also now noticed that she's slightly taller than me.
"She killed the other one." answered the white wolf bluntly. I looked at the white wolf, trying to read her expression. But the only thing I could see in the white wolf's face was a wall of blankness. The one thing I could read was her voice, which she seems to be able to adjust quickly.
"We have everything we need in our bag, right?" I asked the human. She quickly went through the bag, and I heard another voice. Seemingly the human speaking out loud.
"I have everything. Everything's fine." answered the human in a whisper.
The human kept walking to school, and I got a slight flashback to something I've seen before. I'm familiar with this place, but I don't know why.
"It's our first day here, so try not to make our human do anything embarrassing." warned the white wolf. The human seemed to not have heard her.
"Is this place in a good neighborhood?" I asked, "If so, then we don't have to worry about bullies." The human looked around and looked to see where everyone was going into the building. The school is big with white walls and white pillars on the supports. On some of the windows there are letters, and on some there are pictures of butterflies, math symbols, etc.
"Yes, this neighborhood is quite safe." said the white wolf, "But that doesn't mean that this neighborhood doesn't have bullies, whether they bully on purpose or not."
The human was following the crowd, she scanned her ID on a scanner and followed the crowd into a cafeteria. "This part is important. Who we sit with will determine who we'll be friends with for the rest of the year." reprehended the white wolf. I looked at the eyes as the human scanned the room. There was a group of people reading and going on their phones. There was another group of people talking very loudly, they were laughing and chatting. There was a group of boys, one of them was on a Nintendo, and the others were watching. The last group of people were talking less loudly, and were on their phones, chatting about something.
"Let's go over to the group of girls on their phones" I suggest, "Some are reading books, and they probably won't care if we sit there." The white wolf shakes her head, "We should be with the popular people. If we are with the popular people, we have less of a chance to be bullied again." declares the white wolf. Surprised, I looked over to the white wolf.
"Again?" I asked, confused. She looked me in the eyes for a split second, then looked back at the eyes,
"The last Anxiety didn't do too well for our popularity, and we ended up having to leave." She explained vaguely. I then looked back up to the eyes, and realized that the human had just sat down at the table with the girls who were chatting with their phones up.
There were 3 girls, not counting ourselves. The one sitting next to us had a green hair tie. Her hair was black and curly, put up into a short ponytail. She wore a black long-sleeved shirt with a green, crop-topped hoodie on top. She was looking at her phone, which is a darker green than her hoodie. The other 2 both have chocolate brown hair, lighter than the green girl. But that was about it when it came to similarities. The first one had a grey hoodie and dark jeans. She was wearing a pin that said 'Yes, a woman can'. The last one was wearing a turtle-neck and plaid skirt. The girl sitting next to us looked up from her phone, and said, "Oh, hey, are you the new girl that everyone's been talking about?"
"Uh, yeah. Nice to meet you, my name is Olivia." The human replied. One of the twins looked up and tapped the other on the shoulder. I saw her whisper to the other, and the other looked up.
"Hey, I'm Isabella." explained Isabella.
"I'm Mia. I love your hoodie, where'd you get it?" chimed Mia enthusiastically.
"Sorry, Mia's been basically starved for new people since Jaydon got here. Also, I'm Jen." asked Jen. I could feel myself getting nervous.
"Do we know what brand this is???" I asked white wolf.
"I think we got it off of Amazon." stated the white wolf. I could feel both myself and the human silently exhale out of relief.
"It's from Amazon." responded Olivia, as she fiddled with the cuffs on her hoodie.
"Oh, huh." said Mia, and I could feel the human starting to get anxious as well. She sat down and took out her phone, and they continued their conversation. I only caught a few lines from their conversation, but it was enough for me to know what it was about.
"Hey, did you hear about that new diet going around on TikTok?"....
… "Klara told me it was healthy for most people"..... "That's bogus, it can't be that good."..... "Hey, Olivia"
Both me and Olivia's heads came up at the same time, when Isabella tapped us on the shoulder.
"Olivia! You alive? What do you think about the diet thing going around?" Demanded Isabella. I looked around for a moment, trying to figure out what the diet was.
"Red, what were they talking about? I wasn't listening." Asked the white wolf. My ears went down and back as I tried to concentrate.
"I think the diet is being speculated about right now, it's floating around TikTok." I replied. "I think we shou-"
"We should say it's a good thing, we shouldn't judge it negatively before we get a chance to study it." interrupted the White wolf. Before I had a chance to say anything, the human said:
"I think it's a good thing, I haven't tested it out yet though. We shouldn't judge it negatively before we get a chance to test it"
The girls in the group looked at each other and then back at us, seemingly surprised by the answer.
"So, do you test diets and stuff for fun? Like as a hobby?" asked Mia, she looked at us with a curious and impressed face. I started to get nervous, I knew that we should have thought this through together first, what'll they think if we say that we don't?? Do we? I have no idea. I just got here!
"We have to roll with that," I responded, shaking from head to tail.
"Uh, yeah" said the human.
"Test it for us, and tell us how it goes! I can give you a link to the diet. And if it ends well, we can all try it out too!" Exclaimed Jen. I felt a chill run down my spine, like this is the start of something really bad.
