Chapter 2 - The Lies We Must Keep

The human opened the computer and logged in. She then opened a tab, and clicked on the link Jen sent her. When the tab opened up, it sent us to a website called:

Layla's Diet

It was decorated with flowers and scrap-book backgrounds. Similar to what I expected. It seems to also have pictures of fit-looking people, some with bodies that look unrealistically thin. Most were women, as expected. This website looked really sketchy, and I could tell that this was a bad idea.

"We should turn back, this can't be a good idea." I ordered. The human hesitated, and I turned to the White wolf.

"Don't be so negative, we'll just try it out. If it starts to harm us, we can just stop." Contradicted the White Wolf. The human scrolled down to look at what the website had to say, and what we could eat.

Hello, and welcome to my website! I'm here to tell you all about this wonderful diet that changed my life. The diet is mainly on fats and not on carbs, making your body have to burn fat instead. Plus, no one likes pesky carbs anyways! It also has some exercise involved, but the type doesn't matter too much when it comes to this diet. The diet is very flexible for each person, so the list has some things you can replace and swap. Tell me how it goes, I love seeing your progression! :D

Breakfast (Whenever you wake up):

Eggs or Avocado toast

Lunch (4 hours after breakfast, work-out in between):

Salad with Grass-fed meat or Salad with no meat

Dinner (4 hours after lunch, work-out in between):

Grass-fed Meat and Vegetables

"There's no snacks on the list" I pointed out. The humans stomach grumbled and reached into the chip bag nearby. The humans hand stopped before it reached her mouth, and she put the chip back into the bag.

"Well, if we're going to be eating right, we should eat less. Isn't that what everyone says?" Said the white wolf, trying to be optimistic.

"I really don't think that's right, but we have no choice." I replied. "We'll start tomorrow, they'll expect us to anyway.". The human closed the computer and went to sleep.

Time: Middle of the night

I woke up first this time, and looked around the room and noticed something in the corner of the humans room. It was 2:24 A.M. I quickly shook the White Wolf awake.

"What? It's too early. Go back to sleep." Mumbled the White Wolf.

"There's something in the room! Help! What should I do?!" I Yapped. I could feel my body shaking with fear.

"No there isn't, go back to sleep." whispered the white wolf. I looked back over to the eyes, the human didn't move a muscle. Still staring at the thing in the corner. It looked to be a long, plump man. With a bald head and a top-hat. He sat there, looking around. I knew that if we moved, he'd see us. Our mind went into fight-or-flight mode. I looked around the room, trying to find some sort of weapon. Then the human quickly grabbed the hairbrush on the bedside table, and then went back to her original position. I nervously looked over to the man in the corner, and he was staring straight at us, not moving.

I immediately started to panic. The human was waiting for me to tell her what we should do, and I was frozen. We HAD to do something, or he'd get to us.

So I said, "Attack it", and the human fumbled towards the man. She ran at him with her hairbrush, and right at the point of no return, I realized that the 'man' was a guitar. And the 'top hat' was a shadow. The hairbrush hit the guitar right in the side with a loud CLUNK. The human silently went back to bed, and I prayed that no one heard that.

A few minutes later I heard the door open, and the human opened her eyes.

"Hey, are you ok? I heard a loud thunk in here." Asked Mom worriedly.

"Yeah, I'm ok. Don't worry." I responded. Shifting around in bed.

"Well, if you ever need help with something, remember that I'm here to help. Ok?" cautioned Mom. She closed the door silently, and I could hear the faint taps of her feet walking away. I then closed my eyes to go back to sleep.

Time: Tuesday, Morning

I woke up to the light hitting my eyes from my window. I then looked over to my clock on the wall to check the time. 7:00 a.m. I should get up. But, I was too comfy, and the blankets welcomed me to stay. Then I saw that white was above me, watching. And suddenly, I got very uncomfortable.

"It's time to wake up!" exclaimed White. I noticed that she was a lot more relaxed than she was when I first arrived. I stretched and tried to sit up straight, which was a bit difficult since I'm not. I looked over to see that White had seemingly teleported to her usual spot. Which would be impossible, since I'm pretty sure we can't teleport.

"Alright, so what are we eating for breakfast? Are we really going to start that diet?" I groaned. "You do know that it could hurt us, right? What if it's dangerous!" I looked over to White and she rolled her eyes at me.

"It won't be that bad, if it's dangerous we can always just stop." White shot back. "Anyways, the breakfast items are eggs or avocado toast. We should probably do avocado toast because just eggs won't fill us up."

The human got up and walked out to the living room. In the living room is Mom and Dad. Mom had her hair in a bun and was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. She was drinking some coffee from a mug the human got her for her birthday. Dad was eating oatmeal and had his messy, long, brown hair in a ponytail. He was reading a newspaper, and seemed occupied.

"Ah, you're awake! What would you like to eat?" Asked Mom politely.

"I'd like some Avocado toast, please." I responded, hesitantly

"Avocado toast...? Alright." Questioned Mom.

She put the bread in the toaster and went to the fridge to grab something.

"I feel like this is a bad idea." I worried, "We should do more research before we start this."

"We'll be fine, if something bad happens we can always just stop." Reassured the white wolf. Mom placed the avocado toast on the table and we stuffed it in our mouths quickly. We grabbed our backpack and ran out the door.
