'No,' I laughed, 'I'm not selling the baby. I just want to have a relationship with it. Let it know it's my child. I want to be close to him or her.'
'You only want me to raise the child for you?' She asked.
'Emily, I want you to be the child's family. I want it to know it has a home with you but I want to have a relationship with it too. I love it already.' I stood up.
I wanted to walk to her but what she pulled out of her dresser stopped me.
It was Lily's photo album. I had seen the book too many times to not recognize exactly what it was.
'Emily.' I said.
It had been over two years since Lily died. I expected her to move on but I could not understand how she felt. I had not lost a child, ever.
'Kassy, I still mull over Lily whenever I drive. I see her face everywhere. I've stopped going to the convenience store back home because the cashier looks just like her.'
