Matteo smiled weakly. His father, even in death, was still spoiling things for him. He smiled at the thought that the sins of the Father had finally been visited on the child, or maybe the children.
"How much did he promise to pay you?" He slowly asked, too hurt to spare her a glance.
"Five hundred thousand dollars." She replied, ashamed of herself.
Matteo forced a chuckle. He spat out the blood that had formed in his mouth.
"Was it really for revenge or the money, Sandra?" Matteo asked, "I have a right to know which of them would be the cause of my death, yeah?" He looked at her now, so much hurt in his eyes. His heart had broken into a zillion pieces at the realization that Jose and his team had not had to go through too much work to lay hands on him.
