Chapter 29 - 29 When you turn into a demonic trap, it’s time to switch games!

It wasn't like I missed before that I didn't choose a female character, but the male characteristics were a bit more prominent in this avatar. Like it was actually very distracting, because my beginner clothes seemed to barely fit the huge frame of the body I was now moving. Although not effortlessly, I slowly got the hang of balancing my huge weight and tail after a few minutes. My feet were larger again and my steps sounded a bit heavier than before. But all in all, my balance improved dramatically and my tail slowly balanced out my walking. Only gaining full control over my newly added body part above my butt seemed impossible. I started to get used to the feeling of having another limb but it didn't mean that I would actually use it unconsciously. I needed a lot of focus to even make it move like I wanted and even then, it wasn't guaranteed.

After over an hour I felt ready to leave the tavern and walk around the beginner's town. But I did not leave the safety of my room. I first need to find out anything I could get to know about the class and skill I acquired. Running around blindly while carrying a huge sum of money was always a bad idea. And since I was a reverse-trap now, I needed to act accordingly, so I could play without problems.

I opened my menu and looked at all the notifications I barely registered before. Especially the free attribute points, my new skill and the obligatory class quest were a huge source of curiosity. I never heard of the class [Lesser Trickster] nor the skill [Little trick]. Maybe it was because I don't pay enough attention towards the rare classes and skills which aren't useful for mages.

Since I wasn't even sure which kind of subclass mine belonged to, I read the description of the beginner's skill to gain clarity:

[Little trick lvl.1] (active)

Description: One of the first spells [???] can learn. Enables the user to create a slight change in the target's emotional range. Up to 5 targets are affected.

Damage: Can cause emotional distress, happyness or indifference.

Range: Can reach targets up to a distance of 2 m.

Effect: Based on your imagination the targets will feel an emotion due to a lesser hallucination which can be amplified twicefold. The target's relationship towards you can be changed based on that. The duration lasts two minutes. If the target is of a higher level than you, the duration decreases accordingly.

Cost: 20 mana/second

Cooldown: 10 minutes

Remarks: If you treasure the small things, even broken glass can shine brighter than diamonds.]

I never saw such an useless skill. How the heck could I use it for battle? Lessening the bloodlust aggressors felt for me? Whack them to death with the wooden staff I still held onto after my class change? And what means decreased accordingly? Would there be any effect left if they were like three levels higher than me?

But now I knew that the class I got was not only linked to the general magician classes but also would be very difficult to level up. I had no other skills and if I had no money, finding skillbooks or earning enough money to buy either skills or skillbooks would be very hard. The general class instructor might be able to imprint some skills onto me, but I would need to either do a chain mission to get a guaranteed skill or gambling on getting a skill due to a random chest.

And there was no certainty that they could be used for attacking. Some skills appeared to be there to troll others or the players themself. What the fuck did the devs smoke that there was a skill to pick one's nose or automated blood coughing?! Only fools or drama queens would enjoy this type of optical skills which offered no further utility but being fancy props.

The dilemma I faced now was to think how I should spend my money and time. I didn't want to remain here forever. And the general class instructor wasn't able to provide the [race change coupon] I needed for a class change.

What now? Doing quests where I needed to talk to the local NPCs with my new face I would be lucky if I only would be chased away and not burned alive at the stakes. So the remaining choices were to buy skills from the local market or the magic shops in Bronning.

It was far too small for even a little magic tower, thus there were only a few mages stationed here. Some of them sold the products of their research for rip off prices and mostly lesser quality than the products in the larger cities. But since traveling through the hunting grounds was very hard, their overpriced goods were brought by players without patience or talent. I belonged to the last category before, now to both. What a lucky...demon-lord-from-hell-faced player I was…

Brooding, I took out a black mantle with pretty white embroidery and stitches I still had on me. It was the only equipment I had which could cover my large frame to a certain extent. I always wanted to know how it felt to be large. But now I just wanted to be small again and dive in the masses of people.

Damned be the messages and their 'advice'. And I be damned that I couldn't rein in my curiosity! Now I had to face the consequences of my actions and they didn't please me at all.

Grumbling to myself, I stuffed the magical wand in my inventory and donned the robe. In the reflection in the mirror, it seemed a bit strange and the proportions of my figure seemed wrong because the second pair of arms made very suspicious looking bulges. At least the robe concealed the other bulge in my trousers. I would need to buy new clothes which would hide my new 'weapon'. I tried to wrap the tail around one of my arms and bound them together so that an unwanted movement wouldn't expose my demonic looking features.

Fully prepared, I stepped outside to be greeted by the rambling crowds and bustling streets of Bronning. Although not as big as Daystreak, Bronning had its own charme. Small cottages, multi-story taverns or charming shops were making the small town rather lively and both NPCs and players burned with passion and hope. Compared to the rugged and often disillusioned players in Daystreak which had their hopes shattered, here all would behave young, almost naive. If one started Falan, it was like a dream come true, endless possibilities opened right in front of oneself. But only if you were either talented or lucky, could you exceed in this world. And both of them weren't qualities I could boast with.

I walked to one of the shops I knew to be a bit more open in giving discounts if a player exceeded a fixed figure of money they were willing to spend. On the way, it occurred to me that I forgot to check my new status and even add the free attribute points as well as finding out the contents of the automatically accepted mission.

I entered the shop and pretended to look around while just finding a corner in which I could check my status and distribute the attribute points. After finding a spot, I opened my status and froze. Why were most of my class bonuses locked?!

I even got a hidden flaw and the class bonus was practically useless for me. Which mage would use four wands if they could only cast with one? And if I couldn't wield other weapons properly why carry them around with me and increase my weight in battle? A shield could be useful but the bonus itself was pure trash. Sighing, I distributed my attribute points equally between endurance and intelligence, which resulted in both my HP and MP to increase to 150. I needed all the life I could get to level up and reach Daystreak without another death.

And as much MP as possible to attack my enemies. If I didn't have any plans in Falan, I would just abandon this character immediately to play something more enjoyable than this annoying class. But since I had no real choice, I was bound to play this demonic trap a bit longer.
