Description: [Tiny little rabbit]
Remark: [Run, you fool! Cuteness that will kill you, kya~]
Yea, it was time to run. But since magicans weren't known for their speed, I may be unable to outrun it. Because no matter how cute it hoppeled, it was still at least five levels higher than me, if not more. And I didn't know anything about this kind of monster. So either way, running or fighting would result in highly certain death.
Any of my decisions would result in my death. Why should I panic over an already decided outcome? I sat back down and looked at the remaining pastries. A third of my inventory worth of sweets was still left on a few plates around me. My bottom was still resting on the picnic blanket. Should I try to pet the rabbit's fur? The fluffiness of a high leveled monster must be no joke!
And after another scuttle the rabbit was less than one meter away. It's cute, large eyes were a tad confused, maybe not used to prey that would wait for its demise. I just shrugged and picked up a strawberry tart. Worrying made me a bit hungry again. But as I smelled the sweet scent of cream and strawberries, a notification popped up.
[You are still full. The disturbingly sweet scent of those sugar bombs causes you to retch. If you proceed to eat, maybe you'll start to barf.]
How sweet of the game to give me a warning. Maybe it thought I would taint the pasture of the clearing with my vomit. The last time I did not stop after eating a hell of a mountain of food and made quite a scene. If this was a manga and you would see my past, you could see a rainbow coloured isle in the green woods. It would seem a little impressive if censored.
I didn't eat the strawberry tart. Not because I was considerate of the game but because I still haven't let my ambition to pet the rabbit go. Stronger than me? Who cares? Fiercer than me? It's a rabbit. Ferocity of small mammals knows no boundaries! Did you know that rabbits eat their babies sometimes if they are stressed out? Now imagine what would happen to me if I threw up on this cute rabbit?
It would jiggle my innards before eating me, I assume.
I readied myself for the pain that would follow when the rabbit would rip me apart. Closing my eyes, I waited for my doom.
After a second I opened my eyes only to see a beguiling bundle of fur in front of me. Eating sweets and cake. Fully ignoring me as it cleared the remains off the plates. Too starstruck to react, I just observed the animal. I still couldn't process this, even as I felt a tickling sensation on my hand. The rabbit ate the strawberry tart left in my hands and the green fur touching my skin felt both heavenly and ticklish. I giggled and watched the purple tongue licking the last traces of cream off my fingers. Now it was my time to die.
But it was no bad deal. At least, I could watch a rabbit eat cake. And believe me if I told you, there might be nothing as sweet! Only eating cake by yourself could compare.
This picnic was quite enjoyable though sadly already reaching its end. Dark eyes met mine. A silent understanding between prey and predator.
I smiled. And then the rabbit collapsed!
"Rabbit?!" I shouted, worried. Yeah, I know it was dumb to be concerned for your possible killer, but I had no hard feelings towards it. This was just the life of the game and its very nature. That, however, never included the rabbit's death.
Violently trebling, foam appearing from its mouth, the rabbit let out a laboured breath. The beautiful, beady eyes found mine and then turned glassy as the body stopped moving.
I was too shocked to register what just happened to ask why. As the notification of the game appeared, I gasped in exasperation. I caused its death? How?

Wait,...WHAT?! Chocolate killed the cutie?!
[You uncovered one of the secret weaknesses of [apprentice guardian of the forest], [chocolate]. Congratulations!]
Seriously, game, I know you like your damn notifications, but why do they have to sound so sarcastic? I cursed the game inwardly and then looked at the still pulsating notification of the rabbit's death. It was like the life energy of the now dead living being was coursing through the translucent rectangle in front of me. I killed it. Unintentionally, but still, I caused its death. The name suggested that the rabbit wasn't mature at all. I was to blame for the baby rabbit's death.
[You chose [Yes]. Check out your rewards!]
In this world I could feel and live through the cruel truth again and again. Be prey and devoured. Or be predator and devour others. This was the reality of Falan. And the reality of my world. And in both of them, I was prey. I would always be devoured by others and on the brink of death and existence. So why struggle? Why even try to stand up and claim those rewards?
Because I wanted to rise and avenge myself for being born without the skills and resources? To save myself from my addiction and the life I lived at the edge of society?
No. In my world, revenge didn't matter as long as I lived. My heart was beating and my body was fine. So why not plan for the following days to come by using every method possible?
With a command of my thoughts, I opened the mini-animation of a treasure chest on the last notification panel. With a small firework exploding out of the chest, three rewards appeared: And believe me or not, they sparkled like a pile of gold and jewelry! I am rich!
