Chapter 2 - Meeting the league

(Part one of the main story, there will eventually be offshoot chapters that will have nothing to do with the main story.  Hope you enjoy the chaos.)

The sound of voices seemed to bounce around my head making me wince, unfortunately I couldn't move due to being tied to a chair.  Why was I tied to a chair...oh that's right I got caught snooping outside of a supposedly deralict bar that I noticed people coming in and out of.

Curse my usual luck, I had gotten to the alley looking for an alternate way in, since it was unwise to simply walk through the front door.  My source had suggested the bar as a possible location for the league of villains.  I hadn't intended to actually meet any of them just observe from afar.

So much for that idea, looking up I saw several people who I had noticed coming in and out of the bar over the last few weeks. The blonde high school girl, hot Frankenstein, lizard man, and comic book antihero to name a few, the only one I knew the name of stood at the front of the group.

Tomura Shigaraki their supposed leader, the hand hiding his features though the blood red eyes seemed to burn into me. Despite that I couldn't look away.

"So we'll start with the easy questions who are you and why were you sneaking around behind the alley?" His soft gravelly voice showed no hint of his thoughts.

"My name is Emi Umi and I'm a reporter for the Rising Sun Times, a miserable little tabloid that publishes utter garbage.  However, I don't have much of a choice they were the only ones who would hire a quirkless nobody like me. So if you're going to kill me just do it quickly, no one will miss me." The truth of the situation suddenly made me feel depressed as I finally looked away.

"Why would we kill you, your death wouldn't really do much for our cause, it would be a waste of time and energy. But since you've been to our base we can't just let you go either. Kurogiri put her in a windowless room till we can find out the truth about this, Emi Umi."

I looked up surprised, finally seeing the smoke guy from the news.

"As you wish Tomura Shigaraki."

The next thing I know I'm surrounded by black smoke and then land on the floor of a dark room, no longer tied up but still just as trapped.

"What the hell...just happened."

It took ten minutes of exploring the new room to discover the light switch, not that it revealed the door, walls as far as the eye could see.  There was a lumpy bed in the corner a single bulb in the center of the room and an old desk layered in dust in the opposite corner of the room from the bed.

I found some loose leaf paper in the desk and a couple of broken crayons, better than nothing I decided.

Dear paper I found in this desk,

I am alive though I'm not sure why or for how long, I have found the league of villains.  Instead of reducing me to ashes I have been put in a room with no exits.  Shall I ever see the light of day? I know not, I can only hope for liberation or death.

I felt tired beyond words and went to lay on the lumpy mattress falling quickly to sleep. The sensation of fingers wrapping around my neck awoke me with a start.

Looking up I saw Shigaraki hovering over me his long fingers cold against my skin causing me to shiver.

"Is this a joke to you Umi, there are no public records of you beyond two years ago and then nothing since.  Who the hell are you." His gravelly voice sounded almost angry as he growled close to my ear.

"I changed my legal name two years ago to my pen name, before that it was Yuna Lang, though I doubt you'll have much luck finding anything on public records.  Maybe my record in the foster system and the hospital visits from when my myriad of foster siblings decided to use me as target practice with their quirks."  I was grumpy first at being rudely awakened then the accusation in his voice.

"Most like me don't make much of an impact in the world full of powerful people, heroes, villains, whatever you want to call them. All hypocrites."  I watched Shigaraki feeling my heartbeat quicken at the memories that flashed through my mind, triggered by his touch.

"I can feel your pulse race Umi yet you didn't seem afraid of me killing you before, what's changed I wonder." He had gotten even closer those red eyes looking into mine.

"Still don't care if I die, the reason I'm afraid isn't the threat of death.  It's more for the fact that you are a Male and you're touching me.  So either kill me or stop touching me.  Please..." I felt my voice go soft at the please looking away blinking back the tears.

I felt him remove the hand as I allowed myself to curl up not looking in his direction he disappeared in the cloud of smoke leaving me alone to relive the past crying myself to sleep once again.

I woke up thirsty and hungry instantly I smelled beef ramen seeing a tray beside the bed I almost attacked it nearly burning my mouth with the steaming food, beside it, I saw a sealed bottle of water, which also was quickly consumed.

Time meant little to me, my phone was taken from me meaning I had no idea the day or time. Hours after the food, a smoky pillar appeared against one wall the voice speaking out of it obviously Kurogiri.

"You can reach a bathroom through this portal there you can relieve yourself and clean up.  Make no moves to escape or you will find yourself in this room once again."  He  went silent.

Ah what the hell do I have to lose, plus I really have to pee. I walked towards the portal and found myself in a surprisingly clean bathroom, all the toiletries available.

I did everything I needed to do as quickly as possible just in case there was a timeline.  I discovered the clothing that looked familiar, they were mine...but how...I tried not to think about it as I got dressed.  I felt more human now that i had showered.

Glancing at the mirror I observed my Magenta Bob, a celebratory haircut and dye for finally getting a job.  I loved the color it made my blue eyes pop.

I studied my rounder face and fuller figure, my half German ancestry obvious in the cupid bow mouth and golden hued skin, though pale now from limited sunlight, still a dusting of freckles lay on my nose and forehead, remnant of summertime job searching.

A knock came from behind me, turning I finally noticed the door. Hesitant I cracked it open to see blonde high school girl grinning at me with teeth that looked really sharp.

"Himiko Toga, it's so nice to have another girl around here, we're going to be best friends I can tell already!"

At least she seemed nice as she reached into the bathroom and yanking me out. Then she headed down a hallway stopping in front of door giggling.

"This will be your room, Kurogiri got the essentials from your apartment, there wasn't much to be honest, you must be a minimalist."

Toga pushed open the door revealing what was indeed my futon, dark blue velvet set up as a couch, my coffee table, where I ate most of my meals, and the one thing in the world that meant everything to me.

"Baby, oh how I missed you." I moved quickly into the room scooping up the burgundy colored laptop, it was bulky and many years old, it didnt even connect to the internet anymore but it had every piece of writing I had created since I started writing when I was ten.

"Shigaraki let you have it because it doesn't even connect to the web, what's it good for?" Toga sounded genuinely curious sitting on the futon legs crossed arms resting her head above her knees.

"It is my writing computer, every word I've ever written is stored in here, it's been my faithful companion for almost eight years now. I will sob when he finally dies."  I continued hugging the computer sitting on my futon before glancing at Toga.

"So since I am out of that room does that mean Shigaraki believes me about my story?"

Toga grins putting her head on my shoulder.  "Yep, quirkless writer, graduated with a degree in creative writing and journalism.  Do you really speak four languages?"

"Japanese, English, French, and German. Figure it might come in useful if I want to go international someday."  I glanced at the younger girl still snuggled against me.

Unlike males who make me distinctly uncomfortable Toga's touch didn't bother me, she was like a little sister though we were close in height.

"Shigaraki said as long as you don't try to leave without one of us you can go anywhere you want in the building. I'm mostly in charge of you since we're both girls.  Wanna have a sleepover? Never had one of those before." Toga sat up golden eyes glinting with excitement.

"You know what neither have I, let's do it." I couldn't help the smile that came to my lips at the idea.

This was how my first night officially in the league of villains began.
