Chapter 15 - Rival Chuckles

"Something amusing? What does that even mean!" Ashfire swore, kicking the side of the house.

"The only interesting place I can see is over there," Fluffles pointed over to the tornado in the sky with the giant tentacles coming down from it.

"We could go check, but I don't think we'll find anything," Cynthes pointed out. "A few quests took me there, and I don't remember seeing anything it considered interesting."

"Maybe something is there for the quest," Detrix suggested.

"I haven't noticed a way to reach beyond the city, except the path from the transporter," Doctor0 stated, only seeing a giant bottomless canyon around the town.

"You have to use the fast travel spots since each area has a special design," Cynthes explained, walking through the strange town.

There weren't random NPCs like in Steampunk or Urban. It was empty of NPCs as the only people were players going into different buildings for their quests.

Cynthes led the group to a building with people coming in and out of it. It looked like a giant tube sticking out of the ground, and once the group entered, everyone but Fluffles' party disappeared.

"Oh, is this another one of those special areas like the church?" Fluffles asked.

"Yes, unlike the respawn points used for a single player, fast travel locations are made for party transportation," Cynthes explained.

"I didn't even notice that in the Urban fast travel locations," Fluffles admitted.

"The NPCs act like their using the subway in Urban. That's probably the reason you didn't notice." Detrix added.

"How does fast travel work in an Eldritch world?" Ashfire asked nervously. If travelling through a house required a tentacle, what about fast travel.

"Take us to Muronium!" Cynthes shouted to the sky as a giant tentacle came down and grabbed the party, taking them to the ruins.

"I should have guessed it'd of been another tentacle," Ashfire whined.

When the group arrived, Fluffles noticed the ruins floated and looked like one giant building with strange corridors. Some connected the first floor to the top of another, while others had random pathways bouncing back and forth between two buildings. Only a few sections were on the ground while the rest floated.

"Are each of those tentacles a fast travel point?" Fluffles asked as she looked up at the tornado.

No, they belong to a more hostile god. Think of them as an instant death trap." Cynthes stated, speaking from experience.

"Let's start looking," Fluffles announced eagerly, walking up to one of the entrances. Before she entered, a two-legged pig wearing chainmail walked out, bumping into her. "A fat pig monster!" Fluffles shouted and punched its snout.

"OW, what was that for?" The pig snorted angrily. "You rude little, calling me a fat pig, how'd you like it if I called you a flea-ridden cat."

"But I am a cat," Fluffles retorted, staring at the weird talking pig.

The pig was bright pink and was a bit flabby around the stomach, wearing a white cloth underneath its chainmail with a purple cloak overtop. The creature had green eyes with a voice that sounded like a male but slightly higher pitched and was up to Fluffles' shoulders in height. However, the pig wasn't wearing pants, you couldn't see anything, but the game allowing a pantsless pig was shocking.

"Well, I'm not a pig. My name is Chuckles, and just because I don't have green skin doesn't mean I'm not an orc," Chuckles announced, glaring at Fluffles.

"I don't understand, but okay," Fluffles nods her head.

"Now you're looking down on me!" Chuckles pulls out a scimitar and slashes toward Fluffles.

Fluffles blocks the blade with her claws, "What are you doing?" She tries to kick him away, but the orc extends his other hand, and a magic circle appears, blocking Fluffles' kick.

"Don't underestimate me, kitten," Chuckles smirked as his scimitar started to glow an eerie purple.

"We don't have time for this," Detrix stated as she drew her sword to intervene in the fight, an arrow lands near her foot. Looking up to see who fired at her, Dextrix noticed a blue-haired woman standing in one of the towers.

It wasn't a woman but a fairy with translucent blue wings and hair going down to her back. Just by holding her bow out, another arrow magically formed as she prepared another shot. "I suggest you don't make any unnecessary moves," the fairy warns.

Ashfire ignores the warning and throws up one of her grenades before ducking into the ground. The fairy shakes her head, disappointed at the group's simplicity and uses the skill pinpoint, shooting the grenade in mid air. However, the grenade she threw wasn't a grenade from her skills. Ashfire made a special impulse grenade with a larger shock radius, blasting the fairy back against a wall and everyone else onto their backs.

A demon flew out from the tower, swinging a giant hammer with a spike on the other side, and came down on Fluffles, "I think it's time we crush this pest."

The Demon had three horns coming from its head that twisted back, making it look like a helmet. Half of its face looked like the skin was torn off with wings remnant of a dragon and muscles like a steroid bodybuilder.

"Is that how you want to play?" Fluffles asked, having stopped the hammer with her hand. She had a blazing aura from the orb of flames, and Doctor0 was beside her, giving a boost in strength and defence.

"When everyone is distracted, the silent but deadly blade shall strike," A voice mumbles.

Detrix activated the orb of thunder and charged behind Fluffles, slashing at the air as the mumbling voice lets out a loud shriek, "Assassins need to be silent, not mumbling aloud," Detrix lectures.

A creature of bones wearing a brown cloak jumped back, with only blue eyes visible under the hood. Upon closer inspection, the assassin had skin, but it was like smoke as if your hand could pass right through it.

"A shade, how interesting," Detrix poured holy water on her blade, making it stronger against undead.

A green light washed over the shade, recovering its health as a female-looking tree walked out from behind Chuckles. Her bark was brown, with green moss sprinkled between the cracks and green eyes. Her left arm morphed into a spike as her right arm widened to create a shield.

"A paladin Dryad, an interesting combination," Cynthes complimented, shooting lightning towards the paladin.

Chuckles blocks it, creating another magic circle with his hand, "Not so fast, I won't be letting out at our healer."

"Really? You can go after mine, nothing but needles with her," Fluffles retorted and shrugged.

"Oh, thanks a lot!" Doctor0 sarcastically yelled.

"I'll take you up on that!" The Demon grinned and charged toward Doctor0, but a giant ball of energy intercepted him, knocking him into a wall. "Grr, do you want me to crush you first!" The Demon yells toward Cynthes.

"Interesting group you have," Chuckles comments and smiles. "I guess I should show off a trick of my own," A light blue aura covers the pig as shards of ice shoot towards Fluffles.

The ice quickly melts from Fluffles' aura as she wraps the flames around her claws and slashes at Chuckles. However, the pig creates armour made of ice that protects from Fluffles' attack, only causing light damage and a light melt mark upon the ice. There were easier ways to block the attack, but Chuckles wanted to show a battle between fire and ice would be pointless.

The fairy rushed back to the window and prepared to fire again, but Cynthes started casting spells, keeping the fairy pinned. Seeing an opening, The Demon charged toward Cynthes, but Ashfire intercepted by colliding with him. The Demon planned to steamroll through the puny human, but when he collided with her, an explosion sent both flying back.

"What was that?" The Demon asked, his mind a bit shaky from the explosion.

"I caused myself to explode, and you just happened to be nearby," Ashfire mockingly smiled.

"No sane person does something like that!" The Demon angrily yelled.

"You don't need sanity to win," Ashfire retorted and grinned. "Or else, why would I be winning."

"You're winning? You'll kill yourself before bringing me down!" The Demon roared.

Doctor0 brings out the scalpear and stabs toward the Dryad, but knocks the flimsy-looking weapon away only to have it swing back and scratch the tree woman across the cheek, causing a brown fluid to run down her face. The Dryad stabs forward with her spiked arm but Doctor0 dodges, injecting himself with some buffs to fight better against the paladin.

The group battle was slowly turning into multiple one versus one battles as everyone started focusing on the enemy in front of them. With Chuckles team being more offence and melee focused, having only one ranged support, and Fluffles team having a more diverse skillset, instead of brute strength.
