We sorted things out after a while. What surprised me was the way they suddenly switched their attitudes. I mean, it was during the battle we suddenly ended because Arcana understood from what she was told by Sakurako.
As a reward, I patted Sakurako on the head like a pet. For some reason, she enjoyed it. Maybe it was because before she was a Dragon in nature and now it seems like I tamed the Dragon. We sat down and talked to each other.
'Sorry about that, we're a bit impulsive.'
'Yeah, I could see that.'
There are a couple of things that I want to ask them, but I can already guess that they also have questions. Might as well listen to them first.
'So, again, sorry, but I have a thing to ask about you, Altair.'
'Shoot.'
'You said you were a Demon, didn't you?'
Ah, so they didn't actually ignore that remark I made. I put my cloak on and set it on the right way.
'Yeah, and that's the truth. I don't know how to prove that I'm a Demon, but I guess you just have to take my word for it.'
I didn't mind if they didn't believe that I'm a Demon, but as long as they understand that I'm not a noble or have any intention to attack them, then I'm fine. The two siblings nodded, practically at the same time. Now, I guess that's the only thing they wanted to ask me. It's time for my turn.
'Now I have questions for you two. Firstly, you had horns earlier, but now you don't. You're not human, are you?'
Arcana and Sirius both looked at each other–their expressions looked nervous–they seemed to be deciding something. Sirius, the brother, then spoke next.
'We're...'
He paused. It seemed to be a difficult subject to talk about. I was tempted to say "you don't have to tell me," but that urge went away when I remembered that they tried to kill me. Let's say that them answering my questions is my sign saying that I forgive them. Of course, I think they already know that.
'Oni.'
Oni?! Wait, so there's more than one thing from my world that's in this world?! If it were weapons then I wouldn't look too much but techniques and a race... there's more to this world than things that seem otherworldly.
'Sorry, I don't know what Oni are.'
Sakurako raised her hand and said. Well, that's good because I want to know whether they're similar to the ones in my previous world.
'Oni are creatures who derive from the Demon bloodline. They possess two horns that act as a mana medium, and they're usually cold-blooded. Similar to how we were.'
Two horns and cold-blooded. I guess that they are similar in a few aspects. But still hearing Oni and seeing aikido in this world is surprising. That Zyn being didn't say that things from my world would be in this one. I bet he's sitting comfortably and watching me in amusement.
'So, when your horns were blazing with flames, that's when you were using magic?'
'Right.'
It'd be bad if they were easily destroyable. I doubt they would be if they're that important to the individual.
'Another thing.'
I leaned forward and linked my fingers together.
'That throwing technique you used... What do you call it?'
I asked Sirius. He looked slightly nervous, maybe because of how upfront I was. He looked over at his sister, then back at me.
'Is this about you calling that technique "not from this world?"'
I nodded at him. I diverted my eyes and landed them on his sister. Before he said that some Yellow King guy taught his sister the technique, meaning that he has to be someone who also reincarnated or someone else taught it to the Yellow King. Depending on what the name is, I could get a brief idea of which it is.
'Arcana, who taught you the technique and what did they call it?'
Arcana looked slightly confused.
'My throwing technique? Oh, that one. That was taught to me by the Yellow King. She called the technique–'
The next words which exited her mouth seemed to reverberate through my entire being. It was like I could hear every syllable and see the smooth movement of her mouth.
'–aikido.'
The Yellow King... I need to eventually find her and ask her a couple of things, though with a title like "Yellow King" I think that she's incredibly powerful. I can easily confirm that now.
'Sorry, but I don't know who this "Yellow King" is.'
The siblings gasped in shock and Sakurako looked at me with a serious but surprised stare. W-was I supposed to know who the Yellow King was?
'Alty, do you not know of the Chroma Kings?'
'No...'
She sighed and crossed her arm. A joking expression appeared on her face–she crossed her arms–as she muttered to her, "guess I'll have to enlighten your ignorant self." Sakurako's expression then changed from joking to a neutral one. Her change of mood caught me off guard.
'There are a group of beings in this world who cannot be comprehended by simple logic and levels. Everyone knows of them as the Chroma Kings.'
If they can't be comprehended by simple logic and levels, then they're insanely strong, aren't they?
'There are a total of eight Chroma Kings so far. Each King rules over a section of land within this world. They cannot be involved with other countries' problems, so they're more like the God of the territory since they act more like overseers. I'll tell you the names and titles of each King. Pay attention to make sure that you don't mess with them if you ever cross them, though it's rare to meet one.'
The way she's talking to me is throwing me off. I guess I haven't talked to Sakurako much ever since her evolution into a Dragonewt. Maybe I was too focused on travelling.
'The Red King, Blazing Truth, Myuriel (Rouge)
The Blue King, Cerulean Peace, Vyuris (Bleu)
The Yellow King, Shining Pride, Victoria (Jaune)
The Green King, Viridescent Gale, Zhiros (Vert)
The Pink King, Rose Petals, Arteria (Rosé)
The White King, Blank Existence, Artemis (Blanc)
The Black King, Absolute Darkness, Umbra (Noir)
The Purple King, Lilac Beauty, Kardiac (Violet)
Those are the eight Chroma Kings, so be careful and try not to talk about them in the presence of others.'
I nodded my head. I noticed that she said their colours right after she introduced them, and in French, no less. There were also some names that came originally from my world, like Victoria and Artemis, and words like Umbra, which is a Latin word.
'So, where are you two heading?'
Arcana asked us. Since we've made up now, there isn't any harm in telling them where we're going.
'We're heading for Riel.'
'Oh, coincidence, because we are too. Why don't we travel together?'
'Okay, it'll be more fun that way.'
'No!'
The instant I said that Sakurako let out a loud objection. When I looked at her once more, she looked like she was about to cry. Her cheeks were puffed and tears were in her eyes. Looked slightly cute.
When I was ready to calm her down, Arcana walked closer to Sakurako. She bent her back, while holding her other arm, and let an amazing smile show on her face. It looked pretty. Like fucking pretty.
'Pretty please, Sakurako...'
Sakurako's face lit up when she saw Arcana. She turned her head and crossed her arms once more with a "hmph!" Her face showed that she had already begun considering it.
'W... Why not?'
'Yes! You hear that Altair, Sirius, she's letting us all travel together! Let's set out!'
'Y-yeah!'
Sirius and I let out an exhausted shout in response to Arcana's cheer. Sirius and I both looked at each other and shrugged. I didn't take Arcana as one to be cheerful, but I guess she is. Similar to an ordinary high-school girl.
'You have it hard too, right, Altair?'
'Yeah. I can see it's the same for you.'
'Yeah...'
We both followed lazily from behind. Now, all four of us are heading for Riel.
