Chereads / The Cultivation Tower System / Chapter 12 - The First Step

Chapter 12 - The First Step

Mors after cultivating sits down as he breaths in and out, spitting whatever he has in his mouth left. The disgusting after-taste of meat still lingers in his mouth.

"God damn bear, first he shows off how inexperience I am and now he left me with horrible after taste."

He said to himself as he looks at his hands. As a veteran of war, Mors knows how to fight. While most time he used a rifle and the enemy was a long-distance away. Sometimes he was unlucky enough and need it to fight face to face, plus with the training from the camp.

You could say that Mors was an experienced fighter. So far, his enemies have been arrogant or wounded. He has not faced a real challenge since being teleported to this world, but there is only so much his modern way of fighting can take him. If he wants to be an immortal, he needs to learn how to fight like a cultivator. He needs a place to hone his reflexes, his cold weapon skills, his martial arts, and QI.

As he thinks of this he feels a strong presence spread around the whole forest. The presence while far away was enough to make it a bit tense.

"What…the hell?"

He said out loud as he stood up and started to walk towards the source of the force. With every step he went deeper into the forest, monsters running past him in fear. All ignoring him as he makes way towards the origin of this force. After 5 hours of walking, the pressure gets stronger with each passing step.

He could only keep himself standing by channeling QI to his muscles. As he pushes apart some bushes he arrives at a large dead clearing. The green grass of the forest was nowhere to be seen, the ground a dead gray. The bone of countless beings lingers around the clearing. Behind him was the forest, in front of him the clearing, and behind the clearing a large mountain with an open dark cave. He could see that this is the mountain range that surrounds the forest.

His wide eye soon lands at the large house-size monster sitting in a pile of bones. A white fur monkey with stars surrounding its head. Eyes black as the void. Mors was very familiar with this monster, it is the average boss in the game.

A Celestial Monkey. A strong legendary self reforming monster, what is so peculiar about this monster is that it could still reform itself. It is only at the beginning of its evolution path, this monster and its evolution line made up most of the bosses in the game. Now he is meeting one in his foundation arc, while not rare or concerning. The fact is that he is ranked 6 and the monster is ranked 8. there is no chance in hell he can win right now.

Mors takes a step back, wanting to practice the way cultivators fight. Wanting to cultivate more. Wanting to learn more about martial arts. Wanting to do anything before fighting this boss. But he could not as the monster spoke.

"Young cultivator, you are on the path of earning my master's legacy. But you are still too weak and unprepared. Even If you beat me you will never be able to learn it."

"Right…you guys can talk"

"But I will be generous as you are someone who has made it this far even while being weak. So, I will give you a challenge. Fight this 1000 Bone Servants and improve yourself."

The male monkey said as the bones all around the clearing started to form into humanoid shapes, arms with a sword, blades, spears, and bows as the skeletons started to surround Mors, visible sweat started to appear in his forehead. Legacy? Improve me? 1000 bone servants!?

[New Event]

[The First Step to War has been triggered. The host walks a path of war and battle but is still too weak to fully understand. As such training Is needed it.

Defeat all 1000 Bone Servants

Rewards: +5 to all stats

Reward: 1000 fate points

Reward:???

Failure to do this event will make all active events fail as well. The host will also be unable to reach the warrior stage]

Mors could not help but feel anxious, this was all going by too fast. He just wanted to become an immortal and he was just following the system events! Now he has to fight 1000 rank 7 bone servants and if he fails is the game over?! But as Mors looks at the monkey he stops and started to breathe.

Doing some basic calming meditation, slowly calming down his anxiety as he looks at the fork in the road. Continue or give up. Was it not always like this? Continue living as a cripple or give up. Continue to live with the guilt or give up. Continue to fight or give up. Continue to be a cultivator or give up. Mors has long since gotten his answer to these questions. Ending it, all now does not stop life from being shit, it stops it from ever getting better.

As Mors eyes scan the system shop and see that he can buy elixirs for 5 points, a smile slowly forms on his face. He could do this, he will win this event, he will get whatever this legacy is, he will get all the rewards, and will stand at the top! Mors for the first time in this conversation looks at the monkey in the eyes as he speaks. The anxiety and fear in his body were still there but not as much as before. Now excitement for growth and the rewards pump through his veins.

"I know I am weak, I am unprepared but I won't give up! For I have long since sworn off to never give up! They did not give up and neither will I! This is a second chance, a new life for me! To grow strong and become an unstoppable force of nature! Bring it on monkey! I accept your challenge, I will beat you, and gain your master legacy!"

Mors said, putting in some QI in his voice subconsciously. With sword in hand and his eyes on the skeletons surrounding him, he speaks once again.

"For I have no equal under heaven! Only those stronger and weaker than me!!"
