Chapter 16 - Bone Marrow

As the sun went down and night consume the world, Mors continue to sleep without a problem. Once It was sunrise once again that woke Mors up. Mors slowly sit up; his muscles were screaming in pain.

He felt extremely thirsty and hungry. Looking at the dead body of the monkey, he could not help but salivate. As he slowly stood up, a massive headache assaulted his brain. He has gone without drinking water for 2 days now.

While he can survive for a bit longer, he needs to drink water right now. A human can survive longer without eating than without drinking. Using the trees as support, Mors walks around this area of the forest. Soon the sound of running water enters his ears. With excitement, he walks faster to the water source. Soon in front of his eyes, between the large trees, was a small shallow flowing stream.

He got down on his knees as he started to drink the water from the stream. Running water was safe to drink, normally people will still get sick from it. As modern humans have grown used to drinking clean treated water. But he has not gotten sick in the weeks he has been in this forest.

Concluding that his cultivator body must be stronger against this mortal disease. He drinks a lot of water soon his thirst was quenched. As his eyes look at his bloody hands and body, he could only sigh. He has taken too many wounds from that last battle. Thankfully the pills help close and heal his wounds if not he would have died from blood loss. Mors spend a few more minutes in this stream cleaning his body of the dry blood.

After taking care of his personal hygiene he started to walk back towards the monkey clearing. As he arrives at the pile of broken bones, weapons, and the monkey corpse, Mors smiled a bit. That battle was truly a challenge, if such weak stage battles were like this already, he could only image higher stage battles.

Mors spend the next couple of minutes picking up the skeleton's weapons and cutting up the Celestial Monkey corpse. Thankfully it was still somewhat fresh, but it has started to attract flies. Mors while extremely hungry would not even think of eating the monkey meat, he still had plenty of meat from the wolf and the bear.

Though thinking back to the taste of bear meat, he probably should just throw that garbage away. After cutting up the monkey, he stored its fur, claws, teeth, and bones. As he was cutting up the monkey he found a weird-looking bone.

The bone came from the monkey's right arm, it was thick and big compared to human bones. The bone in his hands did not look weird, it was just a monkey bone. What was special about was the feeling he got from it, it felt holy and divine. Like a part of heaven was inside of this bone. Of course, as a content creator based around The Cultivation Tower, he knew what this bone was.

"Celestial Bone marrow. "

A [Earth] grade treasure that can be gotten from Celestial Monkeys. A very useful drop, in-game it increases the character HP, crit resistance, and made the user's bones stronger. Of course, the real treasure was the Bone Marrow inside of the bone.

While he has never tried or cooked Bone Marrow before. It should be easy to cook, just cut it open and cook the inside. Sounds easy enough. Soon Mors made a small fire as he cut the bone in half, he slowly cooks the two halves on top of the fire. But as the bone cooked, the bone was not heating up at all. A frown appears on Mor's face as he spoke.

"Is the fire too weak?...but how the hell am I supposed to make it stronger?"

Mors thought about that for a bit, as a small idea came into his mind.

"I consume a fire core, if I add my QI to the fire, will get it stronger?"

He throughout loud as Mors grab a stick and place it in the fire. Using the stick, he channels his QI into the fire. Soon the fire grew stronger as the color changed to a light blue. In just two seconds Mors has achieved the max heat of the modern furnace.

Soon the bone started to cook, as the smell of the cook bone marrow enter Mor's nose. He stays like this for a few more minutes, soon he could see that the bone marrow was fully cooked. As he stops channeling his QI, the fire turns back into its normal color.

While Mors was very tempted to pick up the bone and eat the marrow right now. It was probably too hot, as such while waiting for that to cook he started cooking some of the old wolf meat he had in his ring. As the meat cook and its smell spread around the clearing, a soft smile appears on Mor's face. His stomach was happy as well, making loud noises as it demanded to be fed.

Mors happily complied as he started to eat the wolf meat, eating 4 whole pieces before feeling full. This whole progress took 20 minutes, enough time for the bone to cool down. As Mors picks up one of the bone's halves, he places one tip of the bone close to his lips.

Soon he used his finger to push the bone marrow into his mouth. As the bone marrow slowly enter his mouth, he started to chew on it. He shallows the first bone marrow before repeating the process with the second one.

As the bone marrows settle in his stomach, Mors could feel its QI spread around his body without direction. Mors stood up once again as he started to cultivate. Settling this new QI into his bones and other parts of his body. He felt his bones become as solid as stone. It was now harder to break his bones. A smile appears on his face as he heard the system notification.

[Consume Celestial Bone[Earth]. +6 stats]

[Max stat for this stage has been reached. The extra stats will be changed to points.]

[40 points have been earned]

As Mors sees this he could not help but smile more. In the game, once the max stat was reached, any stat he earns will be wasted. At least this system was generous. Now he could get points and make his body stronger.
