Chapter 42 - Seven Heavens Training

Three hours later within the training hall, a disgruntled voice could be heard between the gusts of wind parting with each sword slash.

Myeol Mang was at the center of these gusts, as he had been practicing the Nine Sages Sword technique by himself for the past hour.

Every time he went through the technique, he felt like something was off. As if something or someone was constantly stopping him from moving as he wanted, leading to his footwork or slashes to be slower than they should have been.

"It's still too slow." Myeol Mang muttered to himself as he stopped performing the sword technique and looked down at his hands.

However, just as Myeol Mang was going to practice the technique once more, a familiar voice entered the training hall. A voice of which Myeol Mang wasn't exactly wanting to hear.

"It's slower than you want because your internal energy is fleeting. How could you not tell that your internal energy was nearly depleted?"

"So my internal energy got depleted from the four hours I've been practicing the technique. Why didn't I think about that before?" Myeol Mang asked himself as he looked around the room for the owner of the voice.

"Because you're too focused on performing the technique correctly from the start, that uses up your internal energy a lot faster compared to breaking the technique up into parts and using a minimal amount of energy." The original Myeol Mang replied as his body phased through the training hall doors.

Myeol Mang slid his sword into his sheath and turned to face his master.

"So, are you ready to teach me the Seven Heavens Sword?"

"Of course, but first things first we should replenish that internal energy of yours. Sit down, I will share a portion of my energy with you so we can train right away."

Myeol Mang set his sword down on the ground and sat down in a lotus position with his back toward his master.

After a moment of waiting, Myeol Mang felt the hands of his master touch his back. However, when his master began to restore his dantian, the qi entering his body felt different compared to the qi he felt enter his body in Texas

The qi he felt was rather sinister, however, the sinister feeling faded away within seconds. Leaving Myeol Mang confused as to where it went.

'Now isn't the time to worry about some weird qi, just accept the free internal energy so I can continue training.' Myeol Mang thought, focusing on the qi entering his body and replenishing his dantian.

Within minutes the energy from his master completely filled his dantian, making Myeol Mang feel refreshed as he stood up off the ground.

"Your dantian has been replenished, I take it you're ready to start learning the technique immediately?"

"Yes I am, and just because you replenished my dantian doesn't mean I'm not pissed off at you anymore." Myeol Mang replied, grabbing his sword off the ground and unsheathing it.

"Good, now watch carefully." The original Myeol Mang replied as a True Qi sword formed in his hand.

---

Ten minutes ago, outside the main hall.

Mi Yeon was walking along the path toward the training hall with a disappointed gaze in her eyes.

"Sigh… Why is Myeol Mang back in the training hall? Since he's supposed to be relaxing I might as well go check on him." Mi Yeon muttered to herself as she sped up her pace.

A few minutes later Mi Yeon arrived at the training hall doors, however, she felt something strange disappear from inside the training hall as she was about to open the door.

'Where did that sinister feeling go? I don't sense any other people inside the training hall, so where did that energy come from?'

Mi Yeon slowly opened the training hall doors and peeked inside.

'He's meditating? I guess that's a form of relaxation…'

However, Myeol Mang suddenly stood up off the ground and said something inaudible before picking up his sword off the ground and unsheathing it.

'What is he doing? Is he talking to himself?' Mi Yeon thought to herself as she continued to peek through the training hall door.

Yet despite unsheathing his sword, Myeol Mang stood motionless. Staring off into empty space without relaxing even a single muscle, as if he was carefully watching something only he could see.

A moment later Myeol Mang would position his feet in an elegant stance, holding his sword out in front of him with one arm.

'What is he-'

Swish!

In one fluid motion, Myeol Mang had interconnected twelve swings together in the shape of a circle, leaving behind a trail of dust from the floor as he moved.

"What the hell!?" Mi Yeon exclaimed as she slammed open the training hall doors with her eyes brimming with excitement.

"Mi Yeon? Why are you here?" Myeol Mang asked, confused as to why and how long Mi Yeon had been watching him.

"That doesn't matter! What was that technique you just did?!" Mi Yeon exclaimed, walking hastily toward Myeol Mang.

Myeol Mang paused for a moment, not knowing what he should say to Mi Yeon, as he didn't expect for anyone to witness him learning the technique.

However, his master's voice soon entered his mind.

["Just tell her that it doesn't have a name, and that this technique is why you wanted to learn the sword in the first place."]

"Well? What was that technique Myeol Mang?" Mi Yeon asked once more, stopping in front of Myeol Mang and leaning in closer to his face.

"It doesn't have a name." Myeol Mang replied, taking a step backward.

"Well, if it doesn't have a name how did you learn it?" Mi Yeon asked, stepping closer to Myeol Mang.

"Do you remember why I wanted to learn the sword?"

"Yes, it was because you saw that sword in the past right?"

"Well, that was only the half truth." Myeol Mang replied.

Myeol Mang took a few steps back and readied the Seven Heavens Sword stance.

"The complete truth, is that I saw not only a sword." Myeol Mang spoke softly as he began to use the Seven Heavens Sword's first form.

Swish!

"But also a sword technique with it."

Woosh!

A hue of qi appeared around Myeol Mang's sword as he continued to perform the Seven Heavens Sword technique.

"And over the years I've been trying to find that sword and perfect the technique I saw that day."

Heiiiiik!

Having finished the final step of the Seven Heavens Sword, Myeol Mang turned back to Mi Yeon. Only to find her sitting on the ground with her eyes closed as a light hue of qi manifested around her.
