Chapter 19 - His Armour

She glanced at Rukku again before finally looking at her mother with pleading, her mother who was almost in tears at this point just shook her head sadly while looking. The daughter made an almost inaudible sigh, before looking at Rukku again.

"Remember this scion… My name is Lina. And you better not dare to forget it ever!" With that last sudden yell, she slammed the door hard, leaving the wooden frame shaking for a good few minutes.

Rukku almost mirroring the noise that she had made sighed, then looked back to her mother. "So then Leith maybe we go back to the throne room now, I want to leave this city as quickly as possible." His words did not get much of a reaction from her, though she then walked off back in the same direction that they had just come from. Rukku mentally was frustrated, he only wanted to get stronger and yet it seems just due to his lack of any social skills he was being punished severely.

The two of them quickly enough reached the throne room where everyone looked at them with excited eyes, Rukku did not understand this gaze though. He was only going to talk to her after all, these people…no. That is right they are not people! He did not need to feel guilty or bad at all! These were all just pieces of computer programming! They! Were! Not! People!

His mind finally being calm again. He looked back up at the clan leader. The noble Assala.

"We will leave by first light tomorrow at the latest, though I would much rather that we leave earlier. I will be waiting by the gate and if you are not there…You will not like the consequences." His voice somehow had come out a lot firmer than he thought it would originally. Though he was so cool speaking like that.

Then slightly glancing at the priest, "Take me to the house of the Popellia family that man owes me some new armour." The priest just nodded his head numbly almost looking at him with a hint of fear.

Maybe for this game, it would be better to be feared than loved. The new idea soon came into his head. It did seem a lot easier than being kind and caring to everyone, though he would not be unnecessarily cruel just not nice.

"Follow me then, my Lord." The priest's voice stuttered at the end of his sentence for some reason, Rukku though just noted it down quietly in his mind and walked after him. The next leg of the journey was in complete silence as the group quickly left the slums before entering what appeared to be a most more wealthy district, though the slums did back right up to here, in fact, glancing to the side Rukku smiled a little. The slums are just on the other side of the buildings. It was amazing how the smell did not carry over to this road though.

Walking quicker and quicker onwards past the gazes of many merchants and lesser nobles in their fine clothes, they quickly reached the building that they had been heading towards. It was the largest by far in the street.

The mansion itself was surrounded by a set of walls just above head height, the top of those walls having some sharp-looking metal spikes on top, the gate itself had been left open the metal bar gate making the mansion almost look like a prison though it wasn't that. Right?

Walking up to the building Rukku began to notice as well the sheer number of guards that had surrounded it. There was a squad of ten just the main entrance. There heavy armour and spears looking imposing, the sunlight even reflected of the armour a little as well. Aside from them though Rukku noticed another couple of squads hanging around. Each comprised of ten men but they were more in lighter amour. They were probably no doubt more guards around as well who had been hidden to keep an eye on the building. It seemed like they took security rather highly here.

Reaching the gate itself of the building Rukku was surprised to find the merchant he was looking for was right there at the gate itself! The merchant looked to be just as surprised to see Rukku as well. The two of them did not say anything for a few moments. At the end with the merchant still staring at Rukku gobsmacked.

"So will you hold up your end of the bargain at giving me some of that good armour that you promised me?" The merchant still in his silent tone, just nodded his head dumbly. It seemed like he did not even know what Rukku had said and was just instead of being or well-behaving like he was a slow-minded person.

"So where is it then?" Rukku asked the merchant again, who just turned around and pointed at a smithy that was nearly next door to their house. Rukku just then turned around and walked towards the smithy in question dragging the merchant along with him so that he was not misunderstood and denied the armour that he soon would be getting.

Walking inside the building, he could faintly hear the sound of metal being hammered and smashed. The distant clang almost acted as ambient noise for the customers who were standing around inside of the building itself.

Rukku once inside just ignored the other few people and quickly headed towards where the amour was being displayed. There were many types with some being heavy plate and others light leather. Yet, none of them really appealed to him. He was stronger and faster than most, if anything he wanted a good kind of leather amour.

Then he felt someone tap his shoulder gently. Turning around he found that he was dwarfed in size by the man behind him, the man having a thick leather apron on as well as soot covering his face. "So I hear I am giving you some free armour?"
