Chapter 1 - C - 1 Reincarnation

"Ah, what a hot day, and school starts tomorrow. What should I do today? Should I help some grannies cross the street or give some workers snacks? Hmm, too many choices to pick from. Why don't I just help them one by one? That's it!"

I muttered to myself and looked around, noticing some elderly people trying to cross the road. I walked over to them and helped carry the heavy groceries they had bought.

Should I introduce myself? Well, why not? It's courteous to introduce oneself. My name is Amon Swerte. I'm your average person who helps the community a little. Most of the neighborhood knows me as Angel Amon because I assist with small tasks that should be easy for others. But what can I say? I'm just a good citizen who helps anyone I see.

Today seemed like another normal day—or was it? As usual, I was walking around, helping people left and right. They thanked me for my help, sometimes offering me souvenirs or snacks.

I declined, saying that it was my duty to help them as fellow citizens of this city, which made them appreciate me even more.

Today was supposed to be just another normal day, but a robbery was happening at the bank. I was so close that I couldn't help but take a look. I know, I know, it's a foolish thing to do, but what can I say? Curiosity got the best of me.

As the saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat," but there's an extension to it: "But satisfaction brought it back." My curiosity led to my demise, though not by a gun or a knife.

No, I wasn't killed by any of those. Instead, I was killed by a horse—Horse San. The horse escaped from the trucks escorting it back to the farm.

The horse fell on top of my head, squashing my entire body. It wasn't gory, but I still died because it hit where my heart was, and my spine was broken. I was paralyzed and then stomped by the horse.

It was a painful death, and I might develop a trauma towards horses after this.

As for the robbery, the police successfully stopped the robbers because they were distracted by the horse killing me. Watching me get stomped in pity made them let their guard down. You're wondering, how do I know this? Well, it's pretty simple.

I died, following the same cliché of any fanfic or novel you've read.

I met God, who told me how I died and indirectly saved the bank that had the protagonist in it.

That protagonist is a genius destined to cure most of the deadly diseases in the world.

Apparently, if I hadn't been there, the protagonist would have been killed by those robbers. That means I was just a background character meant to die.

Thankfully, I saved him, albeit indirectly. This earned me unlimited wishes from God. He said that since I was a good person and saved the protagonist, I deserved it. Overjoyed, I wished to end world hunger and make Earth a better place where no wars would happen for many years to come.

Corrupt people went to prison, innocent prisoners were released, and many other acts of goodwill occurred.

Because of this, God placed new limitations on my wishes: they could only apply to myself and no one else. So, I wished for no limitations on my wishes.

This annoyed God, who shouted at me for being too good, saying it shouldn't be possible for someone to be so virtuous.

Well, what can I say? I'm just your friendly neighborhood, good citizen.

"You know what! If you wish for something that's not for yourself, I will revert all your wishes and reincarnate you into the worst world I can imagine. Understand?" God was fuming, his nostrils flaring.

I nodded at him and finally told him my wishes.

"Then, for my first wish, I want to be Tanjiro. By that, I mean I want to be born as Tanjiro, not a merged one but the only Tanjiro, and that's me.

For my second wish, I want a traveling system, specifically one that includes all its functions: a leveling system, shop, inventory, status, and a power that lets me travel around the world. That should do, I think.

Also, I want to share the powers I gain with my family and friends. That's all," I said. God waved his hand.

"What's your appearance to be like? Would you like it to change or remain as it is?" God asked impatiently.

"Just keep it the same. I don't want to change my appearance; it wouldn't do any good," I replied. Besides, it's a hassle.

Wait, I haven't told you that I'm also a lazy person, right? Well, now you know.

God waved his hand again. This time, the space distorted and teleported me somewhere.

Taisho Period, June 14.

In a house belonging to a family of coal burners, a woman was in labor with her husband by her side, gripping her hand tightly.

A midwife was urging the woman to push harder as the baby's head finally appeared.

"Push! Push harder, Kei. You can do it!" said the midwife, as Kei pushed with all her strength.

Moments later, the baby was finally born, and Kei breathed heavily, a happy expression on her face. Her husband, who had been with her the whole time, mirrored her joy.

"You did it, Kei! I am so proud of you," the husband said.

"Hmm, let's see our first baby, Tanjuro," Kei said to her husband, Tanjuro.

"Why isn't this newborn crying? Cry, you sleepyhead." The midwife then spanked the baby's buttocks, and a loud cry was heard.

*1st Pov*

"Who! Who did that to my precious and beautiful buttocks? I shall punish you with this almighty fist of mine," I thought, but all that came out of my mouth were the cries of a baby.

The midwife who held me handed me to the couple.

The woman lying on the bed must be my new mom, and the man next to her must be my new dad.

If I remember correctly, my mother's name is Kei Kamado, and my father's name is Tanjuro Kamado.

"Your name shall be Kamado Tanjiro," Kei, my mom, said gently as she slowly patted my head.

This made me drowsy, and my eyes kept closing until I fell asleep.

"Hmm, where am I? What's that blinding light? It looks like a box." When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was those glowing lights. I 'walked' towards the light, and upon arriving, I finally realized what it was: the system I had wished for.

[System Commencing... Binding to the user, Tanjiro Kamado... Binding successful. Integration complete. Please proceed to the tutorial.]

A voice suddenly sounded in my head.

'Initiate the tutorial,' I mentally commanded, and a new screen appeared.

[The system has five functions: Status, Leveling System, Shop, Inventory, and Traversal Dimension. Command "Status" in your mind to display a new screen.]

I commanded the system to open "Status," and a new screen popped up in front of me.
