Chapter 12 - Chapter 11 - Detained part V ( Head of the Fang house )

Radence Fang POV:

Me and Kala had now been escorted by the servants that greeted us and we arrived at where the head of the Fang family sat. We slowly make our way out onto the balcony that led to a breath-taking scenery, encompassed by beauty and tranquillity of the overlooking scene, a garden composed of a single colour, white. Though there was only a single featured colour on display, in no way did the garden look exactly the same, as each white was composed of different textures as well as shades making an abstract picture.

Overseeing this milky site, a man was sat down sipping tea also seeming white in colour, and placing his also white teacup on a small, white round table with two open seats that occupy spots across from him in a triangular formation. We walked forwards to the man and perform a small courteous bow, with the man's head slowly turning towards us as we did so.

"We have arrived, Head Lialh. Per your request of course, we have come to make our report." I and Kala saying in unison.

The heads eyes peer at us intelligently with their silver mercury glow, calmly soothing the tension that the two of us felt. The man possessed the same crimson hair as me and Kala shared, but deeper in tone, his eyes that mercury silver, his left eyebrow bearing a scar cutting across it but just missing his eye. rather than this making him seem less handsome, it rather added to his otherwise kept appearance, the sharp, chiselled jawline, and a white smile that shone brightly. His build was rather large, only fitting for a man that's 6ft 7inches, and had broad shoulders that looked like bowling balls, making him seem even more intimidating and this was all presently clear even whilst he sat slouched in his seat.

"Please, first sit down." Head Lialh says, his voice soothing and calming, yet powerful and had a sense of it being able to coerce you to do something with a single word.

"Thank you, uncle." I say as I and Kala take our seats opposing Head Lialh. He goes onto take one more sip of his tea and proceeds to position himself towards them rather than outwardly to the garden like he previously was.

"Right then, I know you haven't even been through the first week at the academy, but how have you enjoyed it so far?"

Kala is the first one to speak out, out of the both of us. "I guess it's been okay. In terms of lessons, as you probably heard, our class no longer has a professor, therefore currently unable for us to take any of our lessons."

"Indeed. I did know about your situation without the professor." He then turns to me as he asks his next question. "How about you Ray, made any friends?" Lialh's eyes now sharply peering into mine.

"I have. Just one, but I have." I reply with a firm sense of pride in myself, yet whilst replying I was looking down, unable to keep eye contact with him.

"I see. That is also good then. However, is that person by any chance, Gryph Note?"

Kala and I, hearing that, had both now gone silent, not looking into Lialh's eyes. Lialh then proceeds to let a small and pleasing smile spread across his face and looks towards the garden. "So, it is. Rather unfortunate, seeming as they want him killed."

Hearing that, our eyes shoot open, and I had now stood up in outrage, but before I could let a single word slip, an intense pressure was released, taking away all my breath.

"Calm down and sit down. Nothing is final as of yet. Truth be told, they can't execute him as they don't have any real reason to execute him. Also, if you're questioning the murder of the professor, death was always a part of that duel, therefore no charges are pressed on that front."

He then retracts his pressure that he exuded previously and allows me to speak. I, who was now back in my seat, had been handed a cup of tea from the servants that stood by all our sides, trying to calm the situation. "But why do they want to kill him?" I finally ask.

Lialh then lets out an exasperated sigh as he looks out once more to the garden, his eyes now being clouded with splatters of red, dampening his white world. "You were probably too young to remember him, but there was a great hero, loved by the people, with the last name of Note. Some unfortunate circumstances occurred, and he died. I also got to know Note personally, so it felt especially crushing when I heard the news of his death."

"But why are you telling us this?" asked Kala

"Just listen." Says Lialh and he continues. "Your headmaster also new Note, as close as me, if not closer. Apparently, Kaiser told me that Note had final words for everyone. To end everything and to let the name rest in peace. I don't know exactly what he meant by that, but I assume it was to let his name go free to the world of the dead. To vanish alongisde with him, and to uphold his legacy as a dead legend. The fact that Gryph bears his name is therefore rather painful for not just the headmaster, but also for me."

I then interrupt in a calm voice. "So, you also want him dead?"

"Do I? I don't know. Because I heard that Note also had a son. Not biological. And hearing about Gryph and his incredible power, especially for his age, makes me think that he is that son. If he is, it's even more of a reason to put him to rest. To allow him to return to his father and join him instead of living in solidarity. For reasons that I can't say, if a certain someone realises Gryph's connection later, he will not be able to escape their grasp. That's why we're trying to execute Gryph now. To let him free of his pain, quickly. So, whilst I think killing him now would solve all problems, I won't meddle in his affairs. I will neither assist nor get in the way. I'll allow him to pave his own path."

"So, we can't ask you to put in a word for Gryph to the headmaster?" I continued asking.

"It doesn't seem like that will be necessary. After all, in 3 days' time they will have to release him no matter what authority they have, since they have no testimony from him."

"Okay. At least we know he's safe." Kala sighs.

"Why do you assume that?" Lialh asks.

"Well why wouldn't I? If he is the same person as the one who held all that power and he gave up, that would be stupid."

"Well then, let's move on. With that he smiles at the two of us and Kala and I smile and relax, now sipping their teas and helping themselves to the biscuits laid out on that table.
