Dean had spent his weekend on his bed and occasionally moved if the painkiller effect ended up right in the same time when his little deposit of magical energy had refilled. In that time, he could move around. Orion and Andre were the best, they put up their notes on the table and rewrote it on Dean's notebook.
They felt bad about Dean so they helped him. Today was Monday and both of them just went back to the dormitory. At the same time, Dean was back on his knee due to the painkiller easing up at the same time as he regenerated his magical power.
"Mate, I see you're back on your knee again," Orion said as he helped Dean to stand up from his bed.
"Yeah, one more dosage of painkiller for me and I should be good. At least, I will look stoned instead of passing out."
The painkiller had varied in its strength. The first day would make him go unconscious while the last two days only would make him look stoned. The last dosage that he took was the one that make him go unconscious.
Andre was bringing in a box that was perhaps as big as half of his body. The package was for Dean and Andre wouldn't dare to open it without his permission. So, as a result, Andre brought the package inside.
The package was from Maine, Dean didn't took any guess on who the sender of the package was. The Peacekeeper must have done his part and Dean gladly wanted to open the package. Since the content of the package was legal, there wouldn't be any problem in opening it in front of Andre and Orion.
"Unboxing time, want to do the honor?" Dean offered Andre.
"Sure, what did you buy? An air purifier for Orion's pomade?" Andre chuckled.
"Mate, uncool," Orion commented as he smiled.
"Haha, alright, let's see, where did I put my cutter?" Andre searched his desk for his cutter.
He found the cutter then he cut through the tape sealing that cardboard box. Inside of the cardboard box, there was a cargo pelican case alongside with a ballistic vest. Andre picked up the ballistic vest and gave it to Dean.
"Dude, are you that paranoid?" Andre squinted his eyes.
"Well, being shot hurts," Dean said as he tried the ballistic vest.
The Peacekeeper hadn't forgotten his body's size yet. The ballistic vest fit him perfectly. It was a black concealable ballistic vest that a VIP always wore. It was rated to stop all pistol rounds, even the armor piercing one reliably. The protection level was more than IIIA, but not reliable enough to stop a rifle round.
Orion then pulled the military container out of the box. Even at first glance, Orion had known that the thing contained a weapon at the very least. He then questioned Dean, "Is this thing legal?"
"Yup. It's legally owned by me, want to see the paperworks?" Dean asked.
"No need, thanks. But I do want to see the content." Orion put the case on top of the table and he asked Dean to unlock it. Of course, Dean gladly unlocked it for him. Dean opened the case and the content of the case was revealed.
Needless to say, both Orion and Andre were shocked to see the content of the case. It was not something that a student would usually have, and yet, Dean had an access to the things that he brought. The contents were as follows:
■ Full-Kit NFM THOR Integrated Carrier Body Armor with IVB+ plates
■ Crye Airframe IV Combat Helmet + Ops-Core Multi-Hit Rifle-Rated Ballistic Face Shield
■ ShAK-15 15x70 mm Battle Rifle + Suppressor
■ Flame-Retardant Cold-Resistant Ballistic-Rated IIIA Balaclava
■ Oakley SI III+ Ballistic Goggles
"DUDE, WHO ARE YOU GOING AGAINST WITH?" Orion was more than surprised, to say at least.
Technically speaking, the content of the case was more or less of what a high-threat federal response team would wear, and yet, Dean had access to it. No wonder if Orion was even surprised at the first place.
"Just some emergency stuff I kept for a rainy day," Dean lied.
Truth be told, it was the usual load out that Del always wore when he went scavenging in the ruins minus the helmet. The armor had protected him more than once and he would be glad to have that kind of protection in here when the time came.
The ShAK-15 was another derivative of the ShAK-12 that he used to kill Myra protege. It fired a much bigger cartridge with improved firing power alongside with keeping the 20 round magazine size in it. It was capable of killing basically anything as far as Dean knew. It was like having a full-auto cannon on his hands.
The armor itself was fitted with level IVB+ armor plates made from Slianium Carbide capable of protecting from any rifle round. It was rated to stop a single 10.4x83 mm armor piercing bullet. Basically, a pseudo-juggernaut armor. However, like any overt vest, it was quite bulky and couldn't be hidden.
The helmet was more or less the same with the armor, capable of stopping rifle round, albeit not as good as the armor. The flame retardant balaclava and the goggles were just there as an insurance in case any of them had a flame or ice based spell.
It was not the best armor available at the time, but it would do the job correctly if the need arose. Dean put all of the things back into the case and put it right on the empty spot right on the bottom spot of his wardrobe. It snugged perfectly alongside with M4-EC assault rifle. In the meantime, Orion and Andre still hadn't gotten the hang of things. Especially with the sudden appearance of those things.
"You two look like people that had been struck by thunder."
"Man, I don't know. I just feel odd having such a paranoid friend," Orion commented.
"Then again, we haven't gotten killed in this academy," Andre said.
"I understand if you two are surprised, but still, let's face it, I'm a marked man. This is a necessity," Dean replied.
"I understand," Andre nodded. "We have your backs, mate."
"Yeah, no worries, we ain't going to snitch. In fact, let's find out who shot you that night. It's time for us to return the favor," Orion said.
"Guys… Thanks," Dean smiled.
This was the beginning of a fruitful friendship. Little did Dean know, but Andre and Orion would be more resourceful than he previously thought. This delivery would also change how Dean went to the academy.
