Chapter 18 - Mighty Spatula

Since Chuck hit level 10, he was given another ability.

[Enhanced Spatula]

[When using higher class ingredients, you will find that they are larger and heavier than what you are used to working with. For every 1 point of mana used, you can enhance your spatula's size and the strength needed to wield it by 20%]

Chuck quickly spent his stat points and then decided to use a single man to try it.

Has spatula took on a faint blue glow. Attached to the handle was a 10 inch long and 5-inch-wide strip of metal. The blue glow surrounded the edges of the spatula. It extended 2 inches further and 1 inch wider. He then pressed his free hand on the spatula and felt as if his left arm was a good bit stronger.

The blue glow disappeared after 2 seconds.

'Not bad.' Chuck thought to himself.

He could enhance the spatula and use it as a shield or smack things away. He envisioned himself pumping it full of mana and flipping a charging boar like he would flip a burger. He then noticed that there was still a soft blinking light in his interface.

Coming to his class tab, he found that he was able to select a talent from his skill tree.

"Crumb, when you reached level 10, were you able to pick a talent?"

The goblin who was drinking water nodded and then wiped his mouth. "Crumb picked strength enhance. When I put point in strength, I get two points."

"That's pretty good." Chuck said while Crumb nodded happily.

It was a good choice for the strength-based goblin.

Chuck checked his options but didn't find any that could enhance his stats. But that made sense since he started out with a 10-point multiplier anyway. He then looked at his three options.

[If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen]

[You will receive very high fire resistance]

The first option was a bit situational but would defiantly be handy. And it was strong. Resistances were divided into Low, Medium, High, and Very High. The only thing above that was full immunity. This already gave the highest-level resistance possible.

[Master of Dark Cuisine]

[You can make toxic/ lethal poisons that taste amazing.]

Poison is always good. Not in a restaurant but on a battlefield.

[Healing Chef]

[Your freshly made food can increase health, stamina, and mana regeneration and can give stat buffs. The amounts will be determined by the difficulty of the recipe and the level of ingredients used.]

After thinking about it, Chuck directly removed the second option. The first was good, but he felt that Healing Chef would have a higher potential. Chuck chose the third option.

He would have to start carrying around some good wild ingredients from now on. This would also give him a chance to use his travel cooking station.

After a short rest, the pair headed back upstairs and entered into the second floor.

They came down the long stairway and found a circular open room. Purple balls of fire floated along the ceiling illuminating the place. In the center of the room was a 6-foot tiger made entirely of bones. It gave off the feeling of a boss monster.

As they stepped onto the floor, the tiger lifted its head and looked their way.

*Bang*

A gate dropped behind them, locking them in the room.

Chuck clicked his tongue. This was definitely a boss monster.

Crumb rushed forward without delay, hoping to strike the tiger before it could get up.

"ROARRR!"

The bone tiger let out a mighty bellow and Crumb was thrown backwards by the sound waves. It was a sonic attack. Even Chuck who was much further away was pushed back a step.

Taking his spatula and knife, he charged forward as the beast pounced towards the goblin that was getting to his feet. With no time to spare, he enhanced his Spatula with 10 points of mana. Its size and the strength in his left arm tripled.

*Bam*

Chuck planted his feet but was still pushed back as he slapped the bone tiger. The creature was knocked off course and tumbled to the side, giving Crumb enough time to get back to his feet.

The goblin jumped into the air, his sword covered in green energy came smacking down onto the side of the undead beast.

"Grr."

The tiger growled before it turned its head, snapping its massive jaws towards Crumb.

*Shing*

An arc of red energy crossed the room and dug into the side of its face as the goblin jumped back.

The tiger rose back to his feet and raised a paw before slashing out. Three white arcs flashed towards the pair.

Crumb jumped to the side, but his thigh still took a deep gash. Chuck enhanced his spatula and raised it and slapped at the attack.

*Bong*

The spatula reverberated as Chuck was knocked backwards. What surprised him was that the attack bounced and went hurtling back towards the beast.

The tiger dodged the majority of the attack but was still hit. Its positioning was unfortunate as it landed in front of the pissed off goblin. Crumb's arms swelled as energy poured into its weapon and body.

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

He bashed down on the head of the beast several times, momentarily stunning it.

Chuck dove forwards and started to hack and slash with his spatula and knife.

"ROAARRR!"

The pair was sent tumbling backwards when the beast regained its senses.

As they were both laying on the ground, the tiger leapt into the air and pounced on both of them.

Chuck dumped all of his remaining mana into his spatula. It grew to an enormous size the blocked his vision of the bone tiger.

When the beast landed, Chuck heaved with all his might.

*Whizz* *Bang* *Crash*

The tiger was thrown so fast that it whistled as it flew through the air. It slammed into the side of the wall hard enough to rattle the entire room. It then feel to the ground in a heap of bones.

Crumb leapt up quickly and started smacking the pile of bones until he was sure that it wouldn't get back up again.

The tiger was a level 15 boss and had been defeated. Crumb sat down and bandaged his leg. He had lost half of his health. Chuck lost a quarter but had used all his mana. It would take days for it all to come back. That was unless he returned to the dungeon or found some wild ingredients to make some food.

The took a break for an hour and recovered a few points. They raided the core room but didn't find anything great.

The two slowly made their way back to the entrance while recuperating.

Even though the pair wasn't at full power, they still made their way to the ownerless 5 star dungeon. They didn't rush and took it slow. Bu the time they reached it, 2 and a half hours had passed since fighting the tiger. It was nearing Lunch time and Kyle was only an hour or so away.

They might get lucky and find some fresh ingredients in the dungeon. This was yet another dungeon on the side of a hill. They opened the door and headed in.
